You the man Jim. Picked up the banjo after a few years of playing guitar due to my grandfathers passing. He left me an assortment of things and one of them was a beautiful Denver belle, Alvarez and Remo banjo. After watching your beginner series and picking it up quickly I wanted to learn cripple creek the fast way because it feels to me like I was born to play banjo.
Glad my videos helped.
Hey Jim, I have had the privilege of finding you on my journey trying to learn how to play the banjo. I'm not there yet buy boy I've learned a lot from you. Thank you so much..cheers Bernie from 🇨🇦
It’s been a pleasure helping!
Thanks Jim. I learned to play cripple creek in your beginner class, (thank you so much), and now I am really enjoying this video learning some new embellishments for this fun to play song. You're the best!
Awesome! You can do it!
I learn by watching and this will help a lot especially when I play it over and over
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Jim. I’ve been working on the banjo since March. I’ve played guitar since I was a kid and have had a bottlecap banjo sitting around since the late 80’s. Got inspired to learn It because my FIL wants to learn and I said I would learn it with him. I did your beginner lessons and have learned most of the “learn these next” tunes. Was getting ready to go back and expand on Cripple Creek so this is very timely. Thanks for the efforts to put these together. I really enjoy your teaching style.
Thanks for letting me be a part of your banjo journey 😀
Thank you! I just got a banjo, and I just found you. I’ve been looking at many lessons with different people, yours is the best and easiest to learn!!!! You are a hero to me now!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
I recently just bought my very first banjo. I've always wanted to play guitars and things as a kid and am now just starting my intrument journey with the wonderful sound of the South. Thank you for your amazing videos. They are very well done and extremely beginner friendly! ❤
You can do it!
Really enjoy Mister Jim s training technique..
Glad you enjoy it!
Thank you! Just in time, my mentors directed me to the Scruggs book! Looking forward to walking w you! Got my rolls down 50%:) Your short vids got me started w necked picking.. “no picks”.. then my jam group said “make up my mind and put some picks on”! I had claw-hammered for three years.
Enjoying the journey as a blessing! Some of the mentors have played for 65 years. Hanging w them a much as possible before they leave us! Thanks again for adding to our craft!
Wonderful! Thanks for letting me help!
I'm enjoying learning this! Thank you so much! 🪕
Glad you enjoy it!
Learning so much from you and thank you for showing this version 😊
My pleasure 😊
Great video Jim. You can never have enough Cripple Creek! Also a good warm-up tune when you first pick up the banjo for the day!👍🪕🪕
Thanks ☺️
Sounds great! No time like the present to revisit a classic. Thanks, Jim!

I really enjoyed this video. Wanted to learn cripple a while ago so I looked around until I found banjo in a minute and I learn the simple version, but this video allows me to easily space it up now that I already know the basic parts
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Jim! I learned Cripple Creek in your beginner series, now I'll tackle this one.
You can do it!
My place is close to Cripple Creek VA and we always sang a part of the song as we drove across it as a kid on the way or back from visiting the grandparents. Still do though the grandparents are gone so learning this one is a goal for this beginner.
You can do it 😀
At first I was like "wait just a stinkin' minute this again?", but this includes a lot of little stuff that it sounds like Earl did a lot of. Managed to figure most of it out myself but still learned some new tricks! Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Jim always nice learning new things
You are very welcome
love you man, thanks.
Glad to help
Bought a banjo about 6 months ago ( have picked a few other instruments in the past ) - but have had more fun and leaned more Thanks to you Jim ! Strangely enough, playing the banjo has helped with my arthritis in right hand fingers ( don’t have to hold a bow or pick). I appreciate all you do Sir !
Awesome! Keep me posted on your progress. Post some videos from time to time too.
Great update Jim, much appreciated.
You are very welcome
Jim I am have so much fun with working on this Add on to Cripple Creek so much fun Thank so much.
Glad you enjoy it!
Maybe I’ll get it, this time around! 😊
You can do it!
Thanks!

Hey Jim, thanks to you I have been learning cripple creek and foggy mountain breakdown for two weeks now and i am making good progress. The only thing I notice is my picks make a scraping sound on the strings and I am finding it hard to get rid of that sound.
Keep playing, you’ll sort out the pick noise.
❤
☺️
So this isn't the same cripple Creek though right? The other one is the slow gospel version with lyrics? This is just fast and no lyrics? I've been stuck on this
Gospel? This is Cripple Creek. It’s the only one I know of. There are lyrics, I cover that in a different video.
