- GIANT Hail Destroys Storm Chaser Brandon Copic's Windshield east of Lamar, MO today on April 15th, 2023. Hail the size of baseballs and even softballs struck this vehicle absolutely destroying the windshield. Middle portion of the video has an epic slow motion shot of the hail impacting the video, at the end the video shows how decimated the windshield was once Brandon was able to get out of the core. That’s the most spherical hailstone I’ve ever seen. We got around quarter to golf balls here from a surprisingly wimpy storm on radar. That’s the biggest hail I’ve ever seen in person. But they weren’t nearly as round.
Brandon and others who chase storms. I'd strongly suggest having along a pair of polycarbonate goggles.
Wear them over your glasses when the hail begins. Keep in a protective container until needed. I once survived a brick impact to my car by having glasses on. Hit directly in line with my left eye. Cops were amazed I wasn't killed. Uvex makes some excellent safety goggles.

Our area had hail twice.
The first round is what went through Union, it went over us too, we are just west of Union. Lots of little pea size hail, so we had fun watching it come down.
Then during the break we watched the clouds before the next round of hail, this time they started off bigger, ping pong ball size hail, before they got smaller again.
We even had rotation that started right over us as it went towards Union. It couldn't be seen on radar. It began to produce a small wall cloud with that green developing too, but it wasn't gonna be strong enough to actually produce one, it tried as the clouds swirled (reminded me of cotton candy) and we watched lowering behind it, but the conditions weren't quite right. And someone was honking their horn driving by as this was going on.
Get ready for the weather in the Midwest have fun 😂
After politely asking a few times the storm decided to take slightly more drastic measures to stop being chased....
I see some of the cars out there have a special hail covers over their cars and hangs over the windscreen, protecting from most hail attacks. Not sure why modt chadrrs don't have that

That's some crazy sized hail !! Now on a side note if you put clear packing tape on the inside on your windshield top to bottom,side to side, it will not bust threw like yours did. Second is there anyway possible to build a fence like cage over the windshield that way the hail don't get to your windshield ??

Glad you are safe. Sorry about the windshield. Is there something you can do like pulling over and covering front and back windshields with some sort of something like two or three of those sun shields? Blankets? Maybe something rubbery like front door mats so the hail will really bounce off? I know it might not work well if it was really windy.
I like the idea, but do you want to get out of your vehicle, that provides at least some protection, and potentially get bonked in the head with one of those? If it can destroy a windshield like that, it can destroy your skull. Even small hail hurts to get pelted with, don't recommend being outside even in pea sized hail. But I like the idea of the rubber mats if you can get them on before the hail gets big like this

No, storm chasers should not intentionally core punch, but like so many these days, dude is doing it for the reactions on social media. He doesn't give a shit, he'll make enough money to replace it, or con some viewer into forking over their hard earned money to pay for his brazen stupidity. I've been chasing for over 20 years with the best of the best, biggest names in the community, and every single one of my level headed seasoned chaser friends finds this dude and those like him to be absolute reckless wackers. It's pretty easy most of the time to avoid situations like this, he does this on purpose, and even drives basically into tornados, on purpose.
@@brianmccandlish3019 They're clout chasing famewhores who have let social media prominence cloud their judgement. Their actions are absurdly reckless and one of these days one of them are going to get themselves or worse, someone else killed. It's not an if, it a when. Not to mention the shear level of inability to chase and operate without screaming and cursing at each other is just mind-boggling.
And of course anyone who is tied into the community knows about Brandon's mental health issues he has chosen to put on public display, at one point even posting suicide notes to facebook and sending an entire community of people into a frenzy to try and find him while he just sat back and watched the chaos unfold. He's an attention whore with noted mental and emotional instability.
As for vince, he's just a the complete 'wacker' package.

Plus, I wasn’t able to watch tonight’s chase, but I ran it back. God was definitely on the scene and watching over that man. He couldn’t have been in a worse spot if he tried. Your light bar to warn others, the people, the fire chief, the tire he just ‘happened’ to get out of a ditch that matched a while back, and on and on. And…people don’t believe in God. Go figure! There is ZERO way THAT could have been designed by anyone BUT God! Praise the Lord in heaven in the name of Jesus Christ!! 🙌🙌 You should make that a clip with you pulling up and some of working on the tire, leaving, and you telling what happened. It’s a testimony right there. 🙏🙌
