- This Tower Still Sucks. BTD6 / Bloons TD 6 - one of the most underused towers and for good reason is this 3rd tier dartling gun that has barely gotten any buffs since release. Despite that, can we salvage a 2 million pops challenge with it?

And seeing the 42.0 update notes, I can confirm that this tower still sucks.
Also for those curious, an eclipse update: ended up driving several hours away from the clouds and ended up with a great view of the show :)

I saw it from my backyard, off Lake Ontario. it was beautiful
I remember when dartling came out, laser cannon was worse than hydra rocket pods in basically every way

Edit: Also, it may be better for single targets than hydra rocket pods, but if you need a single target damager, you get sniper. Or tack. Or druid. Or anything else
Even if this is true (which it is) let’s be real, hydra rocket pods suck too, and people only use it to get MAD in boss events

Dartling came out with btd5 dulex. Lot of people HATE nk for btd5 dulex. One of worst mistakes they made.

Laser Cannon needs a big buff-lacks the usefuleness for its price.
My thought is maybe a damage boost?
even if only by 1 layer
One more layer plus lead popping should make it better.
give it lead and bunch more pierce.
The best thing about it is being 1 step closer to plasma cannon
It's just so completely outclassed by the other Tier 3 Dartlings. It really feels like a stepping stone to Plasma Accelerator rather than its own thing.
I think the same thing is true for the other tier 3 dartlings too tbh. They are all pretty bad and the t4/t5s are what you are buying the tower for every time.

In its debut in BTD5 (and to some extent BTD4), this tower was MUCH better suited to its duties. The Bloontonium upgrade made Leads a non-issue, and the high pierce was noticeable. I used it similar to Spike-Pult, as a horde thinner along straightaways.

honestly laser cannon should have lead popping to make it worth it, cuz the only NEW property is to pop frozen bloons, and it can no longer pop purples?
It's an archaic damage type that was not helped by the introduction of purple bloons at all. Frozen bloons being too hard to pop just doesn't happen nearly as much as say, like BTD2 or something
@lotion5238 honestly i agree. if NK wanted to keep it so it can't pop lead, why not a price decrease? IIRC, laser cannon is around 3k, which for not being able to pop leads is a lil steep.. though it still wouldn't help it much
I never forget this tower because i always wonder "WHEN CAN I GET THE NEXT UPGRADE????!!"
WDYM. There's only 4 upgrades in top path dartling. I do find that plasma accelerator is a bit expensive at 14650$ tho.
@@witherschat with as much support as the laser cannon was getting, plasma is not only precise as a pinpoint but has higher popping prowess, plus it can pop leads without support. I will agree that $14650 is pretty steep at first though.

With all the weaknesses it has, it should definitely be a lot cheaper. You already need to spend a ton of extra cash on support to make up for all of its weaknesses, so it makes sense to make it cheaper to accommodate for that.
Hey isab, I’m not sure if you read UA-cam comments but I had an interesting series thought… what if you test if the lvl 1 and 100 paragons are as powerful as all three 5-5-5 at the same time.. like you have just the non cross pathed towers with no buffs for lvl 1 paragon then max buffs for lvl 100… that’d be so cool!
I think the 5th tiers are definitely weaker, but since they can be buffed maybe god buffed 5th tiers can compete with them

Who remembers btd5 dulex? When spamming the map with ray of dooms was OP as crap. Better than the t3 sun super.
I wish they kept the style of the laser cannon bolts from btd5. That’s all the buff it needs

Dartling tier 3s are very lacking except for maybe HRP, but even then just go for rocket storm which is a great ability and for not that much more of an investment. Buckshot is bad but BADS is one of the best mid game carries in CHIMPS so buckshot being weak is kind of a way to balance a very strong t4
Yeah laser cannon is pretty similar to laser blasts on super you get it for plasma
Something I think sounds like a cool idea is giving it extra damage to anything that isn’t a blimp or ceramic, alongside a large pierce buff. I feel like this would make it a great upgrade for specifically bloons, and nothing else. Could make it one of the most specialized towers in the game, while also being pretty strong
normal bloons are a non-problem

I think this is interesting. Watching SJB's patch notes updates, I like how he explained that the update was a mainly "damage over time" patch update. With all of the buffs to things like hot shots and lead to gold, blah blah blah. I was just confused to how the laser cannon wasn't buffed since I feel like it can really use it because of laser shot is a damage over time attack. Anyhow, loved the video, keep up the amazing work; I'm glad you got to see the eclipse ^^
I feel like they could double the laser cannon's pierce and it would still be just okay, lol. Like it's just outclassed by hydra rocket pods in every possible way, there's no reason you pick it except for the upgrades that come later.
14:38 I really dislike how glue prioritization affects Glue Storm in so many convoluted ways that it makes mixing glues very annoying to play with.
Still pretty decent for a tier 3 tower to make it through chimps as the main damage regardless. Just tried myself, but I used the 420 dartling on logs, cos I'm not that good. It was rough, but got there. Was hoping to get the RoD, but fell about 20k short when the super ceramics came at 81. Had been coasting basically by itself until that point, but it hit the wall hard and needed support towers.
Yo the nerf to 5-0-0 farm is crazy; 100k -> 115k 😭

i used laser cannon today in contested territory. needed moab popping that wouldn't always pop bloons for rubber to gold bloon trap combo to grind money for boss. CT makes towers more useful due to the limitations. too bad CT is so, so, so grindy. hope the next gamemode has a rework to the rewards...

I normally pair Laser cannon path with the dartling with Hydra rocket path to help laser cannon
I got one of these the other day. Saved up enough to have it before the first leads, only to find out that the LASER CANNON cant pop leads. I hate it so much.
Battles 2 got a buff where the lasershock effects lead and can pop them. And it has 2 base pierce but that would be too broken in btd6. But lead popping is necessary
Isab do you think you would do more maxed buffed hero tests now that the sub paragon buffs heroes?

Should have a faster fire rate along with lead popping. Faster fire rate references the Plasma Accelerator being one continuous beam

would it be possible to do a 2m pops with a village? ik buffed p expertise can beat chimps but would you be able to make that save up without other towers stealing too many pops? could be a cool vid

Laser cannon needs to go back up to 13 pierce and larger projectiles like it was in BTD5 at minimum to be worth using

Why do both glues sometime affect the bloon? At 17:50 you can see ceramics that have both glues yellow and purple glue on them.
i think one of the cheapest 2mpc towers is the 203 ace that thing is like maybe 5k and its not even that hard to pull off since it buffs so well
straight up, if they just gave laser cannon ability to pop lead again I think would be good

cursed idea: a very long map and get 2mpc with a 0-0-0 glue gunner, eventually a discount village if it can get the fire
In theory you could have gone with striker jones instead of geraldo. He would give extra pierce, and his stun could be useful in a pinch.
I kinda wish they changed the price to like 1k-2k so it would be a somewhat spammable tower or a cheap stepping stone to the further upgrades of the path.
I don't get why this tower doesn't have lead popping. Anything fire themed and a heated boomerang can pop leads, why not powerful laser beams?

To be fair, you did make a (non-super) T3 and expect it to handle lategame rounds. It's not really a surprise it struggled.
The change they made in battles 2 allowing it to pop lead really gave it the ability to be good.
For a pierce focused tower, laser cannon lacks the necessary pierce to deal with Bloons for it's cost. And no lead popping makes it even worse. It has no niche relevant to it anymore =/

I've seen ya double discount many times, but never triple discount. why is that? I thought it was because ya couldn't, but when I re-read the path, it says it stacks with 2 other, and I've tested it and got 3 discounts on a tower. I was just wondering
It's a price --> worth ratio, it's not worth it for the cost it takes to 3 disc a few towers. And besides, sometimes you lack the space since the village is so massive. It's generally not worth it in 90% of the cases
If you do a ninja 2mp would Geraldo or obyn be better? It is the only tower that I think would be debatable. Also has a total transformation 2mp been done?

I'm noticing a trend where specifically laser weapons suck. Laser blasts on super is horrible and laser cannon on dartling is bad too.
Bloons is so funny to me cause tell anyone “monkey with a laser machine gun” and they’d think it’d be amazing then in reality it’s just… that…

Realistically, if the dartling gunner is not tier 5, it's underpowered or overly expensive. Tier 5s are also super expensive, but at least they get the job done.

NK should honestly just buff 3-x-x dartling price, by something like a thousand, and increase 4-x-x dartling price by a couple hundred to compensate.
