26 passed my bike test first bike ZZR1100 . I'm 53 now and hadn't had a bike in 20 years and have had a 2018 fireblade Sp 25 days . Feels bloody good to be back on a bike .
I guess having to ride the bike and review it 3 times was actually a blessing in disguise. I like the first rides but this review was actually a review. Very clean and well put together. Thanks for posting! Now you got my eye on ZX14s ;)
I daily mine. A red 2013. He mentioned the looks? Color makes a big difference, The best part of this bike is not the power, it is the fact that you make zero compromises for the power. I love this thing.
Good honest review! I own a 2012 ZX14R and wanted to comment because everything you said about this bike is pretty much how I feel about it. The power delivery, the endless pull, the comfort, the agility, the built quality, the reliability are awesome. It's certainly the bike to own.
The Busa is best for high speeds because of it's aerodynamics, stability cornering, ZX-14 is best for comfort and touring, but both make great drag bikes !
I mean I'd say for stability it highly depends on the rider. Pure aerodynamic speaking maybe the busa but if you are a skilled rider the zx14 it wouldnt be much of a difference for keeping the thing stable. Plus with what he said about it being lighter than the busa I'd say zx14 may be better in some cases. But it all depends on the riders preference and skill
I've ridden both Zx1400s (1352 & 1441) owned the R version. When we dyno both there was about 25 horsepower difference between the stockers. With a Brock's exhaust, modified ecu and some tuning the R was about 201 horsepower at rear wheel. I have ridden both at Bonneville while older 1352 is easier to ride fast for me the 1441 is the one you want to go fast. That being said unless you have the self control of a Saint I would not have either bike for the street...you will either lose your license or end up in the hospital . As the computer named the WOPR said in the movie Wargames "wouldn't you prefer a game of chess". I sold my Zx1400R and I am happy playing on something else.
Anthony I am truly happy on your good fortune and wish you continued success. About 25 years ago I found that competing on the track scratched the speed itch enough to slow me down on the street. I was born to ride like my hair was on fire and at 65 I haven't lost all of that feeling so I just stay away from bikes that tempt me. It's not a bike issue but a me problem.
Great Video! My oldest son had a Busa. He had it over one day and said " Hey Dad, Take it for a ride". Normally I would have said no but this time, well, after all, it was a Busa. I didn't even get down the street before I turned it around and brought it back to him. He said, "How do you like it"? He was very proud of it. I told him I had never been on anything so uncomfortable in my life. Oh well! Guess I hurt his feelings! My hat is off to the guys that can ride one all day long. Anyway, he wound up with a ZX-14. Nice bike!
Ive got 3 bikes now- An H2, a Hayabusa and a ZX14r. The H2 is totally ridiculous and with unreal power. The Hayabusa is such a capable weekend tourer that can really move- But... The ZX-14r is the perfect balance of both -Clearly my favorite bike I ever owned
The H2 isn't really a good sports bike. Makes slightly more power then other 1000cc bike, but it also weights way more then the average 1000cc. So it balances out.
6:05-6:19 this is my zx-11's exact thoughts. I have to keep the leash tight but this is so accurate. Rode a 950 cruiser for 8 years and the 90's Era zx-11 blew me away and I'm loving it. Most comfortable sports bike I've ever been on.
My dad had one of these, sold it to a guy, and the guy lost control flew off and hit a pole, post both legs at the knee and his helmet split in half. Lucky he is alive to this day.
I have to say, its a stupid awesome bike. I had one. I miss her a lot. Doesn't really replace a 1000, but its a damn sight better if you plan to do anything over 100 mi. It really does handle quite well.
I ride routinely with several Busa riders and we all have similar basic exhaust/ecu mods. Honestly there is not much of a speed difference in real life. Both bikes are so damn fast it hardly matters. I do think the ZX-14 is a bit more comfortable.
my two favorite bikes of all time : 1) KTM Duke 200 and 2) NINJA zx14. They both have one thing in common: They are so light to handle you can change direction using your eye movement.
Team ZX14. I own the 2008 matte red and black ZX14R and I love it. I have the Brocks alien head system installed. I have ridden the busa countless times but ever since i bought the ZX14R, NOTHING compares. My personal opinion.
They are a safe bike. The engine holds you back. You stop throttle before braking. Also you dont need to tail gate. Its so fast u hold back n just b careful when u make ur move . So its safe. Its mild at low revsitts comfy. N u can mod it.its a great bike.
I've got that bike with 75k on it. Plenty of miles on many other bikes, it corners great and lots of other different bikes work good to. All bikes are fun!
Joel its my first bike. I never sat on a motorcycle till I got my zx14 last October. I took my safety course in April and the zx14 is easier to ride than the 125 Suzuki on was on. Low power mode traction control 3 👌
In regards to your comments about the souped up busa you rode; People think putting a full system exhaust and a tune on a bike will add all this horsepower and make the bike faster. On some bikes maybe a little but today's sport bikes need back pressure to retain low to midrange power that gets muted with the addition of a high flow exhaust. In the end your bike may weigh less and MAY have a slightly higher top speed but the stock bike's midrange will pull on your ass from stoplight to stoplight. A full system and tune with added horsepower does help on the track when you'll be in the higher RPM's and the weight savings is a big bonus when cornering. (If you go full system exhaust you need to also do other things to the bike besides just a tune to get all the benefits out of it which costs even more.) On the street is a different story where acceleration is king. That's why the stock ZX-14 "feels" a lot faster than the aftermarket busa when in truth stock to stock they are pretty close.
Just brought one Saturday 4/27/19...and he is exactly right about the way it handles and the myth of it powerwheeling. Ive only been riding for 8 weeks and that was maybe only twice a week..it was a Hyosung 650 my starter bike..so after 7 weeks i got the Z14 (because one of my nuttier friends coerced me into getting it) and friends and family went NUTS!! "ARE U CRAZY, YOU ARE A BEGINNER, THAT BIKE IS UNFORGIVING, U CANT JUMP FROM A 650 TO A 1200 etc etc...needless to say, yes its way more powerful and faster, but i do not see what all the worries were about...this baby rides and handles so great, i rode it once thru the city and back home on the highway, of course i need more practice but i absolutely had NO problem with handling it...cant wait to jump back on....PS...my Hyosung seems like a scooter now....
Surprised I didnt see any comments about the zx12r, or at least as far as I scrolled down lol. Zx12r was the original busa killer and technololgy on each bike was actually comparable, the zx14 seems to have a slight upperhand in the tech department automatically making it better than the busa. Too bad the 12r production was ended, I owned a 2000 model unrestricted from the factory and full bolt-on/tuned and was a rocket. Would love another one day and to do a small turbo build.
I'm glad you said this bike was like a jet ski because if you wouldn't have said it was like a jet ski I wouldn't have known it was like a jet ski..14:15 hope you get that itch checked out Dan
I have an 08 zx10r and I have a 08 zx14. Both are built. Very fast. My zx14 is an animal I love it. I love it so much I’m buying a 2018 zx14R this Wednesday.
Dan the ZX-14 is my dream bike. It is the closest I can get to a bike that my uncle had until he wrecked and lost his life. He road a older ZX-11R or ZX-12R.
Hey you went by my gfs job on Barrett Pkwy in this video! Idk I wanted to be that guy who said he notice were you ride in videos. Yay! I'm one of those guys now!!! I feel so special!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I have a regular ZX-14 and have a couple of videos on it but my main bike is the new ZX-10RR. Great review. I use my ZX-14 for longer hauls as like you said it is very comfortable.
It’s a damn good bike but deffo not for the inexperienced rider. Try a 600 first if the person MUST have a fast bike , then maybe a 750 or 1000 and after that then obviously the ZZR. Straight onto a 1400 after passing whatever test is just asking for trouble.
First bike is a Ducati Multistrada. Super comfortable and stylish but its a racebike engine for sure. I practiced for weeks if not months on parking lots. Then to the 7 Eleven etc until I can ride just like I should if I owned a smaller "Starter" bike
Hey, shifting is tricky. So get ya a super sport, put it in second gear and you're ready to slide away from a stop all the up to 110, no shifting. What could be more beginner friendly than that?
I have the 2016 zx14r se and you are right about that. The 2016 model is 1441cc and they drop the 1351cc middle of 2015. The Concourt 14 still have the same engine 1351cc until 2015 when Kawasaki change the engine size for the zx14r 1441cc and the cocourt 14 still have 1331cc.
Depending on where about in the country you are, some English people speak and pronounce words normally like many other English speaking countries you know...
I'd take a look at the Concours 1400 before getting the ZX-14. I got to test ride one and it seems every bit as awesome as awesome as a ZX-14, but without chain maintenance, better mirrors, etc. It's my dream commuter.
Had a 2013 with a full yosh, re-flash, dyno shift kit , and a good tunned it did 210 HP and 126 lbs of torques, and yes it’s more impressive than a busa
Who said hayabusa is a fast bike? That bike tops at 312 km/h... Here is a list of bikes that can beat the hayabusa: Suzuki GSX-R1000 320 km/h '17 Honda Fireblade 320 km/h BMW S1000RR 325 km/h (Brutal acceleration on slick mode) Kawasaki ZX10R 315+ km/h ZX14R 320+ km/h H2 320+ km/h And so many.
If i'm not mistaken there was a certain year that busas were fast as fuck but they were so dangerous that they had to be toned down a bit so they don't go as fast anymore (someone correct me if i'm wrong)
The thing about being your size is that you don't look stupid on any bike, me on the other hand at 6'1" and 250 can look pretty laughable, now I'm not really fat, I've been a heavy weight lifter all my adult life @ 220 I'm into single digit body fat %. I had a 09 zx14 and sold it to get a cruiser, boy was that a mistake, not only was it slow, I drug all the chrome off of either lower side from cornering, I also felt unsafe on it. There has been a lot of times I wish I was your size, on the hand no one has ever threatened to kick my ass! lol I used to really screw with the Harley guys by riding in their group (with my zx14 and Busa) when I found them on the road, I would talk to them at red lights too, it was fun... I will get another one of these. Nice review...
Well Dan, you convinced me. I'm selling my 125cc and gettin a zx14
eLaZizY yea same lol
rip
RIP arm sockets xD
eLaZizY pussy, I'm selling my r125 and getting a H2R. Lol
eLaZizY do a wheelie!
Perfect starter bike
Dextrome good start to the end
Dextrome I started on one, best decision I've made concerning bikes. No need to buy a new one.
Its my first bike. I never sat on a motorcycle till i got my zx14 in October last year
lol
Perfect bike starter bike for dying on your first ride 😂😂😂
Dan just wanted to keep riding the bike so he told them his audio didn't work and rode the zx 14 3 times
12:45
A. How powerful it is
2. How fast it is
C. I didn't wanna

The zx14 is better than the Busa in everything, it’s not even a contest between them.
I kill Busa's and Zx14R's on a daily. Excellent review. I love the intro.
650ib show em the H2 ib lol
Playdowstar no
650ib i dont know bro 😂 i remember calling you out on that turbo busa whoopin your ass lmao
Playdowstar Ducati is the best bike out there.
650ib try and go do some smackdowns with dan at the streetspeed717 callout!!! H2 kills all

Now 2 weeks from now we will get a video of dan saying "weve worked out a deal and im trading the zx-10 for the zx-14"
Arne Hurnik trade doesn't mean even trade, he could give his bike and some money.
Cory R hence the "we worked out a deal" part
i checked and i think the bike already sold
Great Video! My oldest son had a Busa. He had it over one day and said " Hey Dad, Take it for a ride". Normally I would have said no but this time, well, after all, it was a Busa. you need to get this bike so that you can stomp street speed 717
R17 Goliath h2 would be better
R17 Goliath. He would race andy. And that would be a joke. The zx10 already beats on the cbr1
Did someone say streetdrive420
Erik Sutter nah, but i did say speedy guy 513.
Fuck a h2, you can a 14 and turbo it for less than you'd pay for a h2 by a significant amount, and be a lot faster
Ive got 3 bikes now- An H2, a Hayabusa and a ZX14r. The H2 is totally ridiculous and with unreal power. The Hayabusa is such a capable weekend tourer that can really move- But... The ZX-14r is the perfect balance of both -Clearly my favorite bike I ever owned

you not kidding, the zx14r is a hell of a bike. I enjoy getting on mine every day

I'm waiting for "NEW BIKE REVEAL" from do it with dan to show up in my notifications
Finally got one. Love this bike. Having owned a Busa before yes this is much faster than the Busa and no vibrations
I think it's safe to say dan purposely sabotaged his GoPro adapter to ride the zx-14 an extra 2 times😂
My dad had one of these, sold it to a guy, and the guy lost control flew off and hit a pole, post both legs at the knee and his helmet split in half. Lucky he is alive to this day.
Bazooka tubes 😂
_ DallasMoto which are 18lbs each. I dropped 35lbs off my bike by going to a single can cf/ti full akrapovic exhaust on my 14r

Team ZX14. I own the 2008 matte red and black ZX14R and I love it. I have the Brocks alien head system installed. I have ridden the busa countless times but ever since i bought the ZX14R, NOTHING compares. My personal opinion.
I go cow tippin on a regular basis
Dan say's he lost the sound, FALSE he just wanted to ride more on this 1400'
They are a safe bike. The engine holds you back. You stop throttle before braking. Also you dont need to tail gate. Its so fast u hold back n just b careful when u make ur move . So its safe. Its mild at low revsitts comfy. N u can mod it.its a great bike.

In Germany its called ZZR 1400
Back in 2010 the s1000rr was the ultimate Busa killer. And the s1000rr was the safest bike I ever owned in 27 years of riding.
Nice review Dan, I have a few bikes, ZX14 is superb 😎
I'm 6 foot 3,and I love my 2013 ZX 14 R.Going to ride it from Canada to Florida this spring.
Sell the zx10 and Buy it!
10:11 "teleport" Had me crying😂😂
the day dan fell in love
This would be a great first bike! Gunna go look at one tomorrow! Thanks Dan!
Would you recommend this as a beginner bike?
Joel yup, after that you can buy something more powerfull. something like a spaceshuttle
Eff-Zee No a F14 Tomcat is a good stepping stone for a even more powerful machine.
Joel its my first bike. I never sat on a motorcycle till I got my zx14 last October. I took my safety course in April and the zx14 is easier to ride than the 125 Suzuki on was on. Low power mode traction control 3 👌
Im guessing youre joking, but no, its a horrible idea for a first bike
In regards to your comments about the souped up busa you rode;
People think putting a full system exhaust and a tune on a bike will add all this horsepower and make the bike faster. I laughed when he said he felt like a pregnant alien
sick intro. as an everyday rider i like lighter bikes but i wouldnt say no to one of these for the weekends
I don't like that massive look of hayabusas and zx14 and other cruiseships.
Yea zx14s are huge as fuck honestly

jacob anderson because who doesn't like a h2?

Had a 2013 with a full yosh, re-flash, dyno shift kit , and a good tunned it did 210 HP and 126 lbs of torques, and yes it’s more impressive than a busa
Guess you could say,
It's on steroids (insert Lenny face )

Who said hayabusa is a fast bike? That bike tops at 312 km/h...
Here is a list of bikes that can beat the hayabusa:
Suzuki GSX-R1000 320 km/h
'17 Honda Fireblade 320 km/h
BMW S1000RR 325 km/h (Brutal acceleration on slick mode)
Kawasaki ZX10R 315+ km/h
ZX14R 320+ km/h
H2 320+ km/h
And so many.
I help anytime have any of us ever gone that fast
If i'm not mistaken there was a certain year that busas were fast as fuck but they were so dangerous that they had to be toned down a bit so they don't go as fast anymore (someone correct me if i'm wrong)
River yea your right every busa since sometime in he 90s has a limiter but one or two years in particular were insanely fast

1 month later: NEW BIKE REVEAL
The thing about being your size is that you don't look stupid on any bike, me on the other hand at 6'1" and 250 can look pretty laughable, now I'm not really fat, I've been a heavy weight lifter all my adult life @ 220 I'm into single digit body fat %.
I had a 09 zx14 and sold it to get a cruiser, boy was that a mistake, not only was it slow, I drug all the chrome off of either lower side from cornering, I also felt unsafe on it.
There has been a lot of times I wish I was your size, on the hand no one has ever threatened to kick my ass! lol
I used to really screw with the Harley guys by riding in their group (with my zx14 and Busa) when I found them on the road, I would talk to them at red lights too, it was fun...
I will get another one of these. Nice review...
Dan reminds me of Rob Dyrdek, anyone else?
Flashtune the Busa. No displacement increase...and don't get jumpy or else! Beauty! Is in the "eyes of the beholder..."
Richard J... Busaman
The zx14 looks way better than the busa imo
