Where was this commercial filmed? I would imagine in Toronto, simply because Vancouver normally doesn't get sunlight, but that would be a ridiculous assumption of mine.
It's definitely Vancouver, at 0:14 you can see the street sign says Hamilton Street, that's Downtown Vancouver. When he gets off the bus at 0:22 (he's changed from the 14 Hastings to the 29 Elliot) it looks like the stop at East 49th and Elliot Street. The house is in Fraserview, probably near the golf course (a lot of those 1960s bungalows are still around). @@nerkoids
Man took the bus home from work and his wife had a beer for him. I miss the old days. Today he needs a Mercedes and still cant get a beer at the door. 😒
Yep..there was nothing like hoppin off the old bus..gettin home..suckin back twelve 50's and throwin the old lady around the house after she got on your nerves
Imagine a commercial like this playing on TV today?... so normal with relatively low sexual content.. how things have changed.... 50 in king cans just appeared on the shelf in Quebec... yeeeeaaa!
best domestic beer out there even today and im a young guy from ontario....not some old father from quebec i hope one day people will realise this beats blue and canadian hands down
Yikes, the Hastings bus?? Did you get some fetinal to go with that 50 when you where at the Vancouver down town east side? Better get a tetnus shot just in case
Good Day, Answer to fizbin321...yes we did have beer in cans in the 60's etc. They were large steel cans...kinda like a soup can today, only smooth walled. Had a pull-tab...
Wow, back when middle-aged WORKING men (WITH HOMES even) were in beer commercials! That started to change in the late 1980's, when beer companies decided to throw caution to the winds and target their real market -- KIDS ("gotta hook 'em when they're young") -- and use young, "active" and dubiously aged models in their ads.

@@dartagnanlevrai I don't know, am I understanding you correctly? Are you saying that an ad about coming home from work and sucking a beer wouldn't appeal equally to a francophone and an anglophone? :D
I love how they depict happy family life...hug the wife, kiss the kids, etc. Somehow I doubt very much that Mr. Smith will give a rat's ass about any of those things after downing those fine Canadian brewskis. More than likely he'll be yelling at his wife after he's caught hitting on the cute neighbor...they should have done a follow-up. I remember this commercial very well. I used to laugh my ass off each time it aired :)
Those were the days.
That’s my dad at the end , pouring the beer with the blue shirt 😆 he says he remembers he poured the beer too slowly and the director gave him shit
Cool bragging rights story!

Who was the main actor? I really do like this commercial.
This was definitely him then ! He moved to Vancouver from the uk in the 50’s , definitely lines up with how he looked in the 70’s
Man, my old lady never passes me a cold beer when I get home from work.
There's nothing like diving onto the 14 Hastings after a hard day at the office to crank back a few 50s!!!
Man took the bus home from work and his wife had a beer for him. I miss the old days. Today he needs a Mercedes and still cant get a beer at the door. 😒
That dude severely outkicked his coverage.

If you could make a commercial for heaven. This would be it.
im enjoying a nice cold 50 while i watch this, cant beat a cold 50 on a hot summers day with the boys!
my old man used to slam these back 24/7

Oh those horrible early 70's when a single income could buy you that at 35 hours a week ...
Bring back the stubby, longnecks are a weapon..... No one ever got hit or sliced open with a stubby, unless it was thrown!!
Cheers
He just can't wait to get home and start drinking immediately.
Comin' home... to 50...
I don't blame him, lol.....
there is so much going on in this ad....I love it....I can not stop laughing.
Drink enough of it and you'll never see 50! :D
boy this commercial just keeps on going, doesn't it?
best domestic beer out there even today
and im a young guy from ontario....not some old father from quebec
i hope one day people will realise this beats blue and canadian hands down
He only comes home for the beer. Let's hope he never tries... Molson Golden... That'll wreck his home...

i love this beer ! old

It can't be Vancouver, there's like... sunshine...
@defaultuser404 Note that it's BC Hydro not Translink... old times
The 14 and 29 routes are still running too.
As far as I know they do... its an old mans beer
Ugh! What happened to "Take five for Fifty ale"?
0:14 lol, hastings...I would need a few 50s after seeing that despair.
Wasn't as bad back in the early 70s, as it is now.
first beer I tried as a child it was a different time
Love and miss the stubbies!
Good Day,

there is nothing like a good labatt and a big bucket of kentucky fried chicken. and then BURRRRP

And then Frank woke up . . .
man I'm getting thirsty and the beer store's closed :(
Utopia, simply utopia.....
hey labatt - bring back the stubby.
@mauriat1967 almost everywhere in america in the 70's. XD
My dad managed to get one, though...
He twisted the cap on the stubby bottle. That's impossible. Stubby bottles were never twist open. you had to use the bottle opener.
T'as raison, Ils boivent de la kokanee
In the 70's, back when the white male still had some dignity
White males NEVER had dignity, Pepe.
no he didnt twist the cap ,,he had a bottle opener
@TheLloydRizla01
Hey ! He could go shopping or drive around on one of our beatiful highways. Or mowe the lawn or paint his driveway!
Ahhh... Labatt's 50. The only beer that tastes exactly the same when it's warm as it does when it's cold.
Thats Vancouver... On bois pas la 50 au CB... Like WTF?
Where can I find a woman like that!!!!????
Ou le Canadian (Laurentide).
How else is the poor guy supposed to have sex with his wife?
@thecat029
To then wake up at 1:00 am and drag myself to bed
or "church key" as they called them!
@quaxk so did my dad....lol
I admitted I lied
fake! Women in 73 ust to decaped the beer, than give it to the owner.
It's a dirty sassy liquor... so sassy!
I like "50"
U dont have to BE 50 to drink it!! lol
EH
Okay so I lied!!! hahahaha
you need glasses
la 50 est amere
Le pire, s'est que j'ai réussi à mettre la main sur une de ces bouteille elle est pleine
ouff j ai vu mieux comme annonce loll
