This is my favorite book i have ever read. The first time when I finished it i turned straight back to the beginning and read it again. 7 times i have read this book. I prefer factual books but something about the gritty macabre world this story feeds my mind is a place i love to visit now and then. I wrote a screen play of it a few years ago and would love to make it into a film. I drew up plans for the wasp factory and considered building it . I may still build it. The screen play i have long ago lost but if money was not a problem i would seriously try to get this made. Not American actors and completely sticking to the book. No famous actors either.
Ive always thought it would be a great idea to make it into a film, live action or animated, this was my first attempt but I am also still really interested in trying to make it a film. Ardman animation studios were planning to make it into a film a few years ago but those plans fell through.
You depicted the atmosphere perfectly! I just finished that book for the 2nd time, and your video made me go back in that weird fictional world. I love The Wasp Factory just as you, and i would love to create my own illustrated cover for that book! I'm glad to see that it touched so many people :D Again, great job!
Thats such a kind thing to say thank you! I made this animation when I was 18 and honestly would love one day to make the Wasp Factory into a full length film or series . Ive lost track of how many times ive read it but im really happy to meet another fan of the story and am touched you like my short film :)
Really great animation, I just finished this book and I absolutely loved it. Especially the ending, which I genuinely didn’t see coming. The book has a lot of dark stuff in it, but the tone is so relaxing and slow
Thank you im really flattered you liked the animation :) and I loved the book for the same reasons! The nature environment its set around almost becomes its own character in the story.
It's an identity genre book so it's more about the protagonist than the plot he's involved in. The plot was nice but the best part about the book is definitely learning about Frank's mind. So unless you've read a full psychological profile on him, you'll be fine. The book is fantastic and I can't recommend it enough.
How come you switch to 'scope-vision' when the pellet gun only had iron sights? And (I'm not 100% on this one) did the phrase 'sometimes I think you should be the on in the hospital instead' actually appear in the book ?
I can't ever go to the beach without thinking of the wasp factory

@@breemaddrellmander7856 is that the same company who make Wallace and grommit ?
@@danwalk2388 Yes it is. They make a lot of stuff, not just stop motion films.
@@breemaddrellmander7856 Do you have a source on this? It sounds interesting but I can't find anything on it.
@@shearman360 My source is from my university lecturer who used to work for Aardman , dont know if its actually documented anywhere online.
gave me the same feeling as when I was reading the book
Thank you so much!
I love how this may look to some one who hasnt read it 😏😏
It conveys differently. My jaw was DROPPED reading the kite part
Yeah it's a fantastic book right :)
@@breemaddrellmander7856 absolutley regret not having read it sooner too
I haven't read it so I was confused but I still loved the feel of it
TOOL and The Wasp Factory? I couldn't have asked for a better combination 🙌 Great short!
Thanks so much! and yeah I think they are a perfect fit too, so grimy but spiritual at the same time.

The sound design in this piece is just excellent!

Just read the book, loved this as much as I loved the book
Aww thank you so much, I adore this book as well and really tired to tell the story as best I could through visuals :)
Same here
I wish I could get behind this, but a combination of Frank having glasses and Angus' bored non-Scottish voice kills it for me.
Fantastic style, really loved this.
You did an awesome job in the bunker scene
Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun trying to make it as surreal as it was written.
Such a disturbing story.
Paul had a grisly end
This is so cool!! 💜
Will you make a part 2?
Ideally Id love to re make it feature length, so I can explore even more of the story.
Where’s the scene with recce getting stung by the wasp
Wrong book I think friend :)
Wasn't he chubby?
Soo cool but I haven't read the book so I'm a bit lost
Aw thank you very much, its a really engaging book, i highly recommend giving it a read at some point :)
@@breemaddrellmander7856 I will, also love the atmosphere of what you did, the animation is really smooth
Impressive!
Which TOOL music video is this?
My favourite book
I haven’t read the book. But I regret looking it’s plot in Wikipedia 🤦🏻♀️
Ooooff yeah you really need to go into this story blind for the best experience but honestly it's still a great read would highly recommend!

True there's no iron sight in the book but visually I really wanted to create a intimate and unsettling first contact between frank and the buck .
reading this book in form. it’s so bad
What don't you like about it?
@@breemaddrellmander7856 It’s fuck!ng sick. Whoever enjoyed it was probably hit in the head.

Hated the book I thought it could have been amazing but missed the mark
Terrible..
Worst animation ever
