    oh, this is so interesting, cause it's actually also a chemistry lesson. the reason it works is that the mash has solids and oil, and the solids can absorb the water but oil cannot mix with water, so the addition of water drives the oil out. this is how certain chemicals are purified when they're made; they're made in a polar solvent like water, and are removed with a nonpolar solvent like oil, or vice versa.

    The process seems tedious and forever, but what you get in the end is pure, unadulterated, chemical free peanut oil. Very rewarding and satisfying.

      an alternative might be using a dough hook on a stand mixer, but those can be expensive...

      There's no "chemicals" in the peanut oil you buy at the store. It is made essentially this same way just with machines doing the labor.

      ​@@Toastybees I guess there won't be any added stabilizers. What's really good is that the oil is perfectly fresh. Peanut oil you get at the store has been sitting around for weeks and months. I wonder how different it tastes.

    Interesting! Thanks for sharing this. Grew up in a place where the people used a lot of peanut oil for cooking. Didn’t have a clue that this is one way of extracting the oil. You learn something everyday!

    In india especially south part of Indians use groundnut oil for cooking we get oil from cold press which means traditional way of oil extraction, 16 kilo groundnut gives 7 to 8 liters of oil
