- Gillows of Lancashire furniture is amongst the finest and certainly the most sought after in the world. Many pieces were shipped to America including this very lovely cabinet. Bought in America by Charlie Wallrock from Wick Antiques and shipped back to England, this particular piece of Gillows history may have been out of the country for almost 200 years! It’s been repatriated to England, where Charlie will carry out some sympathetic restoration before being put on the market for sale. Ironically, its quite likely it may be sold back to America!

Gillows of Lancaster , so iconic since 1730 , it's stunning!
👀👍🏻 Nice1 David
I have a single draw round drum side table by Gillows in my living room. Its stamped Gillows on the draw. Its a perfect for the bronze lamp on it & an occasional wine glass. It sits next to deep red velvet chair in my living room. I bought the Gillows with my father early one morning at Kempton antique market abut 15 years ago, not sure who paid for it but it when it came intro my living room to show my mum it never left. Although both my mum & dad are gone onwards now the table remains. I remember we paid £150 all those years ago & knew we stole it. Today its priceless.
An occasional glass of wine on an occasional table!
How wonderful and what an incredible buy…well done !
👍❤
Charlie shoots! He scores! I'd bet shipping it back cost a pretty penny too. It got there with the glass intact, which is a blinkin' miracle. One guess - UPS, USPS and the Royal Mails have no fingerprints on the packaging anywhere. USPS thinks "Fragile" stamps mean "play footie with this before dropping it out of a plane."
one 20ft container is several thousands to ship and it took him 6 months to fill it with only special pieces!
Beautiful piece of furniture, I would love to own it but I know I couldn't afford it.
You and me both!
Loverly piece. What type of room is it likely to end up in?
I can see it on a grand hallway, library or a drawing room…I’d have it anywhere!
Nice lot , but can only be attributed to "Gillow". There is no correct die-stamp, and no provenance, that can be backed up from the archive via the ES books.
It doesn't need to have the skin repolished. The feet look odd ?
Not sure how David tolerates your constant sniping. I would banish you to the other side of UA-cam! He’s a better man than me.
@@Neil2022 Not everyone is a beginner in the antiques games. It is the comments section , not what you want to read section. Why don't you deal with my specific points? I agree , he is a better Man than you, as I am .....now jog on chump.
