There are a coupla district advantages to spinning reels. First is line gets to the bottom quicker. Easier for line to just fall off a spool than to rotate one. Second is superior retrieve speed. The same gear ratio is faster overall on a spinning reel because the diameter of the spool is larger. Oh, and a bonus, having the guides under the rod offers less friction. Especially straight under the boat. I'm 57 and been guiding on the west coast most of my life. Unless I'm trolling or fly fishing, there will be a spinning rod in my hand every time! This includes large halibut. You're a wise man to not fall into the "traditional" trap.
Beautiful sand tile, all times are so delicious great job, those trigger fish are awesome we use to go on a charter boat out of Empire Louisiana, called the Early Bird the captain would tell us not to bring lunch we would catch some of those trigger fish the captain would cook while we fished he would grill those trigger fish and make shrimp and oyster jambalaya so good a great time tks Ron god bless you and family.
Another great video CMR. Just wanted to say thank you for including your audience in the giveaway. Can't wait to see your big videos coming out. Tight lines my friend
Great video CMR & PYT! Lots of great variety of catching going on today. Always great to see you and Sara having an awesome day together. Thanks for sharing & keep smiling!
Ron im going to do the vudu shrimp in a freshwater pond just for you .... When i was at this pond we caught large mouth bass all day.... So ill let you know ...... I wish i had a go pro i would video it and give you the footage .... Maybe you can start a new thing ..... Take subscribers videos and showcase on channel
I was the same way with reels until I started free lining for grouper off the piers and I learned to love it. You get right handed conventional reels cause all the controls are on that side. If your boat fishing I don't see why you would need one if your not comfortable or like them.
Love watching the two of you Sarah is so sweet. Such awesome content and wish I lived a little closer to the coast but I'm on the lake Pontchartrain and it's not true salt but close. I'd love to be put in your winners wheel of surprises if possible. Thanks as always for sharing and God Bless. Later my Gators.
@@CameramanRon sorry my jokes don't always work in comments Ron. You don't have a contact email on your channel I have found. I'd email you. You ought to come up to Ohio for the walleye and white bass runs. Monster bluegill up here too.
I'm hoping to get down to the Big Bend (Alligator Point/Bald Point/ Carrabelle) this Fall. Haven't been down since 2018 and that was a quick trip due to the Hurricane. Love your videos. So glad the PYB goes with you and enjoys the trip. P.S. how does one enter to win?
CMR here’s the challenge you Daniel Houston should do when you are back to the farm. Top water bait only in Daniel and DeeJay’s pond ie first bass, largest bass and whose fish danced the most for the bait. Great charter great fishing the best part is your ever lasting memories with Sarah Have a great weekend
Very good video. No offense intended with what I am about to write. I could tell before it happened a few times, that you were going to be broken off before it happened.. A couple of times, you were horsing the fish in so fast, that I believe it put too much strain on the line while the fish was 100% in a fighting mode. Nonetheless, you caught some quality fish. Plus what do I know? I wasn't there and it could have been one dozen other reasons for the break off.
I'm a righty but ALL my level wind conventional reels are "left handed" models. I honestly don't understand why right handed people like right handed conventionals. It makes no sense to me. The casting versions means after you cast you have to switch hands to reel. Buy a lefty, it'll change your opinion about them.
Watching again to show support for Ron and his family
We miss you CMR! God bless Sarah and the boys 🙏
Amazing to be able to watch thank you and God bless you all Middleton family

Hey Ron, I think you meant "they're". As in "they are"
👍
Ron I am right handed but I use a left handed retrieve, cast with the right retrieve with left, you don't have to switch hands

Great bonus video. Thank you.
Thank you!!
CMR You should try a left side conventional reel. Tight lines.
That Gulf trip was nice...you enjoyed it !
It was a perfect day out there!!
Great video👍👍. As gor PYTs trigger fish... All i can say is it can be amazing some the strange ways that you land a fish sometimes

Can’t get over how calm those seas in the gulf are. Last time I went off shore out of SC I got sooo sick.
It was ridiculously calm for real!
Yeah the Atlantic Coast is much crazier! Especially around the inlets!
CMR what a great video. PYT flossing fish teeth is awesome. God Bless and l love yall 💕💕💕
Great show thank you guys. Have a great day
Thank you for watching!!
i have caught some decent bass on the vudu shrimp.
Does your buddy do charters out of Pensacola? Looks like a great spot
You got the Matt tail and eye disease issue. But all your grunting reminds me why I use short 5' fiberglass rods offshore.
I’m not sure what Matt tail eye is
@@CameramanRon Matt's tail and eye disease. Almost every fish he catches has the tail too close to the eye. 😂

Voodoo shrimp are killer on missouri small mouth early in the spring hook me up non of the local tackle stores carry’s them I have to order them
I’ve always wondered if freshwater fish would hit them. I felt like they resemble a crawfish enough to get a strike.
@@CameramanRon they will smash the voodoo shrimp when they won’t touch a soft craw of any make
Get a left handed conventional reel. I'm the same as you. I prefer muscling the rod with my right hand and reeling with the left.
Great content guys!
Looks like a memorable fishing trip!
Fun to watch!!😀😃
Great video as always.
love watching CMR and PYT. love it when she out-fishes CMR,
We sincerely appreciate you watching, and she pretty much outfished me everytime!

Hay CMR!! Get some heavier line ! Thanks for the grin 😄
I figured 40 would have been fine but I guess not.
Great video
Hi Ron, Which reel did you use for the snapper catches? Thanks Bro.
I’m pretty sure it was a pen fierce 3 6000. That was actually one of the captains rods and I have no idea what the conventional setup was.
Awesome part 2 to that offshore trip with Captain Ryan. How do I sign up for the swag bag?? 🤔 Keep lines tight.

Nope it’s power pro.
@Cameraman Ron that's crazy. With that being said depending on your guides you might have a chip or Crack.
@Cameraman Ron also tell the wife she needs straighten up that stance lol
Does Riching the fish mean, “unplanned catch and release”😂
