Hope you and hubby are still active and doing well. In case you didn't read, last year my beloved Wes passed away. It's not been the same without him, but I am getting on with my life. Take care.

I only have the Janome 900CPX. I've had it for almost a year, and I ended up shoving it to the back of the table and ignoring it all that time. I tried following the books, no luck. Everything I did looked awful! Waste of money. Then I watched a couple of videos (including yours) on how one actually operates, and the settings, and when I went to try again - VOILA! It actually worked! Thank you!

I really appreciate that you demonstrated the removal technique 3 times very slowly. I'm about to sew 3 knit maternity tops for my DIL who is expecting in Oct and I mainly offered to make these to get better acquainted with my cover stitch - I have the Janome 900 CP. These are the best videos for cover stitch techniques out there. I hadn't thought of basting first or trimming after. I can see where those steps remove the swear words from sewing!

Glenda thank You so much, this has been invaluable to me ! I just received my Janome cover pro 2000 CPX and due to pandemic restrictions, I am unable to have in person lessons. This is so helpful! I didn't Know what to do with the looper thread after threading it in the last hole . Your video is the only one I could find (after watching several threading videos) that says to leave it hanging on the inside about 4 inches and then close the cover. I'm Looking forward to watching the next one in the series!

RE: Hemming a narrow tube - I turn the tube (leg in this case) inside out, press up the hem, then, working on the inside of the tube (right side of fabric), sew the cover stitch. I have to sew a little slower, but I like the results better. Love your videos! Lots of great info & well produced. Thanks so much

Glenda, you're the best! Great ideas. I have been avoiding the purchase of a cover stitch machine for a few years. Two years ago, I started my professional alterations business, and I thought, initially, that I could get by without a coverstitch machine. Boy, was I wrong. I should have gotten one right away--the heming is much more professional looking and a time saver, too. My serger can do only so much.
I don't know yet which brand I will purchase, but your advice is well at the top of my list. I guess it all depends on what one's needs are...you know, am I going to use the machine just for heming or venture out into other things as well.
    Keep the videos coming! Thanks

You could do the hem of the leggings by turning them inside out after doing the side seam - by turning them inside out you can stitch all the way round on the right side of the fabric, just holding the excess out of the way, so just as easy as sewing on the flat piece.

question for you: how do you make sure that the raw edge of the hem is not "short" or "long" so the fabric is not included in the hem or there is extra fabric to cut off....I am guessing this would happen a lot with knits and even silky type fabrics???

You can pre-baste or you could use a fusible web like Stitch Witchery to hold the hem up before Cover Stitching.
