First, I want to say thank you for sharing. I appreciated your time to explain while recommending products that work. I recently moved to Michigan, and I've noticed all kinds of spiders; many look like wolf spiders. A few in the house, primarily near the windows and doors as well as our basement. The basement and garage have centipedes too (I think that's what it is). I will certainly be ordering the products you recommend because I have not had good luck with the pesticide from Lowes. Even the hot shot (kill on contact) does not work like it claims. Is there a local product I can get from Menards, Ace, Home Depot, etc... that you like or is everything worth buying only found on-line? Thank you for your time.

I'm happy to help end there are many products out there but also you find that a lot of manufacturers share similar ingredients.
Don't be surprised if a bug that you spray doesn't die right away, the active ingredient may take significant time to cause the bug to die. Not too many bugs can survive a direct spray from any pesticide. The days of spring stuff that cause insects to immediately flip over and die or long gone. Most of those products have been removed from market. (Acute neurotoxins)

If you're trying to kill them on contact with a spray he recommends the CB-80 contact aerosol. The link is in the description

Hi I have woodlouse spiders that appear to have arrived with my new furniture. They come out in my kitchen, clothes drawers, and in toy bins. I am raising my grandsons and they need to be safe with low toxicity. What do you advise?

I’m in Wisconsin. Can the diatomaceous earth be used indoors and outdoors? These spiders don’t make webs and hunt at night, and can bite

Spiders walk on tiptoes so they don't pick up a lot of diatomaceous earth when they travel. You might consider some glue traps and some EcoVia or Naturecide for natural options. The trick is to spray the spider directly which isn't necessarily the best solution for people because if you can see the spider before it's a problem, it's not that hard to deal with. I think you're trying to stop the spiders from showing up unexpectedly in different parts of the house and that can be more tricky. Because if you want to control spiders throughout their random path of travel, we start to look at the need for a non repellent insecticide.
Consider "Temprid Ready-To-Spray" aerosol and follow the label instructions carefully. If they came in with your furniture they will run out of food and they will not reproduce. They feed on rollie pollies/ pill bugs out in the yard. If they might be coming in from that, make sure the bottoms of your doors are sealed up tight because a lot of spiders can walk right under the doors of our homes if we don't have doors that seal tight against the threshold.

Further commentary on diatomaceous earth, it can't hurt to try using it along your baseboards and in places where you think the spiders are traveling. Spiders generally do not like to be out in the open especially woodlouse spiders who live near where their prey lives. Their prey likes wet damp locations with rotting vegetation.
