Although I knew of Coroner's existence I never really heard their music before. Listening to No More Color, so good! Thanks dude, you have got me into several bands already.
Tunnel of Pain stands out so much on No More Color. Just a neat little well constructed package of a piece, it stuck in my head as soon as I heard it and ended up listening to it about 15 times on repeat.
Coroner is one of my all time favorite bands, they have grown on me soo much and im a better guitarist thanks to this band, my favorite album is their debut
Marquis Markies drumming is a part of Coroner not many people discuss, but is also a important part of their sound. He plays with the technicality that’s needed for the music, but also never overplays it. Making up the rhythmic framework so the rest of the band can go crazy over, while keeping in check the more heady aspects of the band with a solid backbone.
Starting off the episode strong with Bludgeon !! I got the chance to talk about them this weekend with Vince of Bludgeon/Hearse/Crucifier, he was the coolest dude to chat with. & apparently we can expect some new Hearse soon !! in the next year or so
That was pretty fast! Of course, I can imagine neither of these episodes needed too much preliminary research. A band like Coroner tends to just forces their songs into the deep crevices of your brain and keeps them there. No More Color was the album that got me into Coroner, and it's kind of my go-to wacky thrash album, so it's nice to hear my Coroner biases be validated to a certain extent. On the subject of wacky, progressive, and insanely influential bands, are you into the early Die Kreuzen stuff? Or even the later stuff (which I personally don't care for)? I know punk/hardcore probably takes 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th fiddle in Jiubland, but that first Die Kreuzen was way more influential to extreme metal bands than it was to their contemporary Midwest punk bands, especially Voivod and maybe even Coroner. Good stuff as per usual!
I actually got into Die Kreuzen because of Voivod. They're definitely cool but I have to listen to them a little more regularly. I actually like a decent amount of old school weirdo punk stuff like Minutemen and Nomeansno when I'm in the mood for it.
I actually like it a lot but I still feel like I'm kind of in the minority on that. My favorite song from it currently is Hyenas of the Aurunci. RFI Ep. 314 was pretty much all about my thoughts on the latest from Arghoslent and Grand Belial's Key, and my stance on those two albums haven't really changed much. I kinda like the new Crucifier more than either of them, but all three are cool.
I do remember people talking a lot of smack on Hornets when that came out, and nowadays people seem to dig that one, so maybe they'll come around to the new one in ten years or so.
@@schmoopen the Hendrix cover is not an improvement, and I don't really have an opinion on 'I want you', the song fucking sucks. The real travesty is how out of place they are on those records, nearly as bad as the cover of sweat leaf at the end of det glemte riket
""It works when they do it" is such a good way to sum up the genius of Coroner.
The simulated Obi strip motif was very classy.
Up to Mental Vortex is definitely flawless! Grin had it's moments.

Their 1995 Compilation original tracks are probably my favorite songs they put out
Love the Black Dynamite clips.

Yup, that and No Need to Be Human are definitely my favorites on the album, probably in my top songs for Coroner overall as well.

That's wild! They just cranked that first full-length out! Then again, they've probably got a big surplus of ideas from the demo days to work with.
Was that Black Dynamite making a guest appearance for this episode? Impressive!! 👍 #48
im begging for a Forest or Rundagor episode🙏
We need a Sadus episode.
No More Colour was mastered by Scott Burns at Morrisound!
Did we get a twofer this week? It kinda seems like it
Mostly cause the last episode and the one before it were kinda late due to unforeseen circumstances but yeah I guess ya did!
You should talk about Nuclear Death.
My brudda would you ever be open to doing a Suhnopfer episode? If not all good but I am curious what your opinion on the band is..

Yo RFI, that new Argohslent been growing on me. It gets better with every re listen. What's your current thoughts on it?

@@radiofreeinnsmouth1337 Argohslent "fans" are just mad that it's not incorrigible bigotry 2.0.

You gonna do Helstar eventually?
Not a related question but
if you have heard Harakiri for the Sky can you tell me your opinion on them?
I LIED
I expect at least 80% of this episode to be on Coroner's penchant for ending albums with terrible cover songs
Sorry fam, too busy talking about the stuff I liked.
They were both better than the originals
