As someone who only recently got into In Flames in my late 40s , I love being able to digest all of the music in a short period of time, did the same with Trivium and PWD . I think the changes are perhaps people evolving in life , skills and knowledge
People change as years go by. We do. They do. I'm on board with their aggressive 90's tone, and with whatever they do now and everything in between. I respect their changes in life, perspective on music and expression. And I embrace it. If people is on board, cool. If not, also cool. We should just stop hating bands that "change". Bands are made of people, and everyone changes. You can like or not new routes or paths, but if we could only just respect them! Great video, by the way 💯
I'm surprised that The Halo Effect wasn't mentioned, given it consists entirely of former In Flames members and is very much in the melodic death metal vein.
…and the fact that it was basically a very similar lineup to Lunar Strain with Mikael Stanne on vocals, with Jesper, Peter and Daniel reunited. TBF Halo Effect’s EP was one of my most listened to albums last year 🤷♂️
@@ericajade2601 I know, you’re right, it would have made sense to include them but I had to end the video somewhere! Maybe I’ll do a video on The Halo Effect at some point…
Saw them live various times, had 1 cd of 'em of which I liked but somehow their music didn't stick with me personally for long.. I do wish them the very best tho!
I think they grew out of more extreme metal, Friden especially. He was in a more rock band Passenger. I think he would have stuck with that if they got more popular.
@@m1k0sh1_6 I liked that Passenger album. I wish more bands would give up pretending they still are metal and just do what they now do best. Metallica was better as a country band than the hard rock they became, Slipknot would have been better as a hard rock band (Snuff, etc.) than trying to still be metal. You got over it that is fine move on and do what you really want to be doing instead of dialing it in.
man, I've been listening to In Flames for a long time and I'll leave the personal and relationship issues between the current and former members to them. I do think it influenced their output, but that's their business. As much as I'd like to and some often say they fell off at some point, the honest truth is that even back to Whoracle, Colony and some of those earlier albums, I didn't like every track on every album and then again there's tracks I loved so much it made me a fan of theirs. I heard Foregone and I think there's maybe what, one track I was just "meh" on? That's NEVER happened for me with In Flames. I don't give a damn if they don't sound like they once did. That's a given. All I know is Anders has never sounded better to me and I think Bjorn and Chris have some great chemistry. Heck, the whole band seems like they're vibing. I love what I heard and want to hear more from them. Everything else is just details
Mikael didn't leave In Flames he only helped the band in their first album. Mikael he's a founding member of Dark Tranquillity. He was the rhythm guitarist in dark Tranquility. Jesper left In flames because of his alcohoism. That's why he doesn't tour with The Halo Effect.

i got into in flames in high school in the early 2000s. I've never known why the changed their sound... but i just saw them live last year and it stood out how shitty their new music is when they played all newer tracks and then played cloud connected. To me In Flames ended after Soundtrack to your Escape. The albums that follow that were so disappointing. Who was happy about come clarity? you claim this was a thing, but i cant say of one person who honestly hope for that awful album as a good follow up to soundtrack to your escape. Its the most hot topic sound they could have gone with. Fuck this.. inflames suck now!

no nonsense, no bias, just information relayed in a timely, easy to digest fashion. i look forward to every future video sir, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for the support and encouragement!
In Flames changed when Jesper left the band.
The change started with Come Clarity
You cant forget Soilwork! Along with In Flames Soilwork brought that Gothenburg sound to the mainstream US
Great video, subscribed!

Oh man one of these for soilwork in the future?
@@skinnyraptor9111 Would love to! There’s some interesting parallels there!
I love that Chris Broderick is in the band! He was always a HUGE idol to me and still is
I saw Broderick live with Megadeth on the Big 4 tour and he kicked ass! Hopefully I'll catch him with In Flames too.

iirc, they weren't awful either. not my style, but not insulting to witness. curious if they'll ever record that follow-up.

The 90's albums are awesome, but my favorite era has to be Come Clarity / A Sense of Purpose. Perfect blend of heavy, melodic and emotional

I noticed there are a lot of pockets of dead air in the video, are these sections where the auto copywrite system forced you to silence the areas?
