All the pushing of Boruto rubbed me the wrong way. They never gave us the gold and silver brothers, the 7 swordmen of the mist, Orochimaru 8 headed hydra, jugo cursed mark 2, etc.
To be fair, the game has boruto in the title but there’s a HUGE lack of boruto characters in the game still. I do agree though Naruto characters should get love too. 4/5 of season pass is otsutsuki characters.
Its literally the only bussines decision that makes sense, all those characters you named are complete nobodies who aren't even characters. Boruto and its characters actually exist naratively and you can create movesets and abilities from the anime and manga instead of a bunch of nobodies with no set moves or fans. The others are just pallete swaps of existing characters like Orochimaru and Jugo who barely has any distinct moves to choose from.

The problem with that mod is there’s no ranked or matchmaking, you have to find people with the mod on discord which means you can’t play someone on your own time. The mod is cool but storm 4 is 8 years old and sluggish to me but that is a good alternative if you want to use connections characters even though it looks like piracy importing them to another game.
We basically got none of the Boruto classmates. They definitely didn't work on this for that long. We didn't even get Shikimaru's son, and he was coded into Storm 4.
Like I'm curious why they keep including him in the title for little payoff too. It's literally the same franchise at this point and it's not like we'll get a pure Boruto game
@patricknicholson1318 If that was true Boruto would have had its own game series by now. It doesn't because Bandai Namco knows Boruto flopped. The Boruto anime only does well in China. Everywhere else TV channels just use Naruto/Naruto Shippuden.
3 was insane with the added kabuto story thing. 4 using anime shots for cutscenes killed my interest in the story completely. Storm 1-3 was legit the best way to experience the story.
Storm 2 and 3 were so good because they actually felt like improvements upon the existing game & formula like a trilogy should. Everything else has just been blatant cash grabs from my personal perspective. Yes, that includes “Connections” Edit: Leader change was cool in Storm 4, but that wasn’t anything groundbreaking to me.

Storm Connections released just under a year ago and still only has 2 of its 5 DLC packs. The "support" is minimal, and the game blatantly falls flat in every area imo

Half of that time was spent waiting for an update to add custom lobbies and fix the game. It’s only been a couple of months now that they’ve been releasing DLC, but that isn’t even the problem. Every pack that they’ve released only has one character. Two packs in a couple of months wouldn’t even be that bad because the packs would USUALLY each have multiple characters.

@@falcedacciaio I never had an issue being great in any of the storms its just a known fact that storm 2 was the worst game in the series as far as online goes due to the fact that everyone spammed jutsu and ultimates. The sub bar introduced in generations was a much-needed change.
This was seriously well done my guy. I honestly thought your channel was much bigger based on the production quality. Also, that Kingdom Hearts reference had me grinning from ear-to-ear. 358/2 is my favourite entry in the series.
For me Naruto Storm Connections it doesn’t feels like a new Storm game at all, they changed only a few buttons commands and nothing more, the fact that they removed Tilts and they put the tilts moves on the second jutsus it's pretty lame, disappointing and lackluster, not to mention that they removed the jutsus selection completely from the beginning of the fight. 🤦🏻♂️ This game feels more like an update DLC than like an actual New Storm Game. But honestly, for me Storm 1 will remain the most Unique one from the series and the closest to the anime itself because of the very dynamic gameplay features, my reasons: Intro of characters before the encounter, unique jutsus that didn't came back to the other Storm games, longer and diverse movesets for almost any character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus, Jutsus Clashes and Wall Fighting... and I can go on and on to state it why Storm 1 gameplay was the most unique one from the Storm Series, just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay features, In my opinion that will be the Perfect Storm game. The First Storm game has the most Unique gameplay features perspective and the particular presentation of the game was so ahead of it's time in my opinion, the only downside of the first Storm game was the very lacking Story Mode Interactions, and from Storm 3 the developers cut and shortned the movesets of characters, that's why I don't agree with their choices. (By the way, my favourite Storm games and I will put them in my personal order will be: 1.Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and Generations. (these have my favourite vibe and charm of the anime itself because of the dynamic gameplay features) 2. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2( for the unique Story and some Unique Boss Battles and let's not forget that Iconic "Calm Before the Storm" OST from the Characters Selection Screen and many more diverse soundtracks) 3. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (Because of the more well-rounded diverse Story Perspective and very epic Boss Battles and also the soundtrack "Outside Konoha" and others soundtracks as well) 4. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (mostly because of the unique option to change/switch between your characters team during the fight, this particular option mechanics should've been already in the game from the very first Storm game in my opinion) 5. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (because of the abused and annoying Counter mechanic) 🤷🏻♂️

So I played and tried liking Naruto to Boruto Shinobi Striker, but something about how It played and the feeling of the world just felt off to me, then I saw the sheer amount of stuff being paywalled with the character training (even Boruto Era Sasuke who Is *literally asked* to be your mentor) and quit shortly after, I then saw Connections, checked If there were other Storm games on Steam and bought the bundle of 1 through 4 on sale and don't Intend on buying Connections after my experience with Shinobi Striker, and I'm a fan of Xenoverse 2

Great Video! 7:45 had me dying lol. In all honesty I have 600 hours on connections and I’m top 30 in the world. The game isn’t bad at all it just needed to be delayed because of all the problems it had at launch like pre patch, no custom lobbies, and rage quits but not only that, the game price is not justifiable. Bandai was able to get away with pricing storm for that amount with content like that back then but people are beginning to realize they want more from a storm game. People call connections a storm dlc or 4.5 but in all honesty if you go by those standards every storm game has been a dlc. Storm 1 is the only unique storm game in the franchise. After Storm 2 every game has the same movesets, same stages, and added new or changed mechanics to make the game feel different. People expected a brand new game that was different from the previous titles due it being 7 years since the last title but connections was only made in almost 1 or 2 years. Storm connections isn’t the problem, people are just sick of Storm. What the people need is a storm reboot. Which is what CC2 was going for in the beginning. Storm connections wasn’t suppose to be the game it is now. A open world storm game was in development at CC2 but it was scrapped and Storm connections was made last minute. There’s proof of dev builds for the game being recorded as early as 2019. The problem is Bandai rushing titles. Storm 4 was rushed, demon slayer was rushed, and also connections. I see the game connections was trying to be. Storm 4 is 8 years old, locked at 30 fps. Storm 4 was still an actively played game and it made BIG numbers over the years so we were in due for an updated storm for the newer generations of consoles. Storm connections does that with slightly better netcode and 60 fps. I also enjoy the game mechanics making the roster more viable compared to Storm 4s and the character customization. Storm connections had the formula to be successful they just should’ve made the game cheaper or free to play and profit from a in game shop where you can buy accessories and dlc characters. Also they should’ve added an online version of the Storm revolution battle royale mode. In my opinion that would’ve saved the game but I believe connections will grow into a good game with consistent updates and be the definitive Storm.
Very comprehensive coverage of the storm series I love it. Just wanted to add a few things: false or misleading advertising and storm 4s voice acting too. Storm 3 had v jump magazine scans for the edo kage and kurama Naruto. For them to just be story mode (or an ultimate jutsu) which felt like a spit in the face, who the fuck releases a magazine scam promoting new characters in a game that are just normal enemies you only fight in the story mode. It's obvious they did this to bait you into thinking they were new characters. Also storm 4 went out of its way to make sure you didn't know about their dumb anime stills until release. Every ad for the game showed only the cut scenes that were animated. Also may be a dub thing but the voice acting for story mode was pretty bad, but one line on particular still sticks with me and I'm not sure if it's because of the translation team being to literal for the voice actor or something. When Madara joins Obito in the story Naruto says and I quote "Weren't you fighting THAT grandma."... That grandma? Bro wtf why wouldn't he say "Grand ma Tsunade" it sounds impersonal and like he doesn't really know who she is. Small gripe but still there were others I felt were off. That one just stands out.
Just an idea. What IF. They make a storm game based off the past. Time of Madara and Hashirama where all the clans were fighting before they established the leaf. Or what Indra did after betraying Hagoromo. Or introduce Toronie and Hamura and the moon/hyuga clan dispute. Since they making original stories now.
That would require a lot of input and direction from kishimoto. And he's already so busy and overworked. Thats not happening. People buy for "naruto". Youll lose sales if you market a game forcused on just past characrers.

It literally is the worst Naruto game out there. If they just would give us these characters as dlc for Storm 4 no one would ever have a problem with the storm series but yeah they did the destroyed this franchise. We need a new Naruto game. A well crafted story mode what covers the entire Naruto saga from Naruto's journeys until Boruto's, interactive story cutszene, player choises and branching paths that can impact the storys outcome, more Boruto Characters, All awakenings like Jugos, Sasuke's Juin Mode, Naruto 1, 2 or 3 Tailed kyubi. More Team ultimate jutsus did you ever think thow shameful it is what we still don't even have a Team Ulti between Jiraiya-Naruto, Naruto-Sakura, Team Yamato, Team Kakashi, Team Taka, Sasuke-Orochimaru and much more. Openworld is the most important thing to make a Naruto game fun to play. Just imagine a real openworld naruto game like (Assassin's creed or The Broken bond) and to be able visiting Konoha, Suna, Land of Waves and the whole Ninja world from Naruto. In a Openworld game we also need many interesting side quests or minigames like catching animals like Narutos first mission, climbing from a tree to a tree, push ups with rock lee and guy or ramen contest (imagine doing all these stuff online with other players). Character customisation and much more. Game developers are just to lazy today.. they just want easy money from fans nothing more. Look how many pupular anime game bandai namco and they "smal" game developmers created like Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed clash, Shinobi Striker, One Justice My hero, Black Clover Quartat knights and and and! But even this, imagine a Openworld One Piece game..Exploring the ocean with noumerous islands and the world one piece world with luffys crew beeing able to cutting trees, fishing, beating monster and cooking like Sanji. Beeing able to play the whole story. Sailing and Ship Management, allowing players to upgrade and customiuze their ship including weaponry, sails, aethetics. Recruting manage the crew and naval combat and of course beeing able to play it with friends too in a online mode. I think every one piece would like a game like this and im sure bandai namco has the money to make a game like this.. they are just to lazy and dont want to put so much energy in games like this.
@@borub.817 companies, especially Japanese companies like Bandai, Shueisha, and Nintendo are old-fahsioned and the only language they speak is money. Making money, cutting corners to save money. That’s what they care about because they're just making licensed merchandise off of brand recognition. You would have to pry the rights from their cold, dead hands to have a game like that made. Even if they did care enough to make the next DBZ Kakarot, that takes time and resources. Even just a cash grab arena fighter takes time and resources, as lazy as they are. All you can really do is hope they're that generous and are doing something good behind the scenes, but I wouldn't expect much from an old-fashioned, greedy Japanese company suckling revenue off of big IP's. They don't like change and have a really counter-prodictive work ethic and mentality. To say the least, they're out of touch and they like it that way. All this isn't to say having ideas is bad, but I wouldn't expect much out of lazy rights holders. To them, games are merch. I'm sure the devs themselves don't get the time or resources to make what they actually want. It's all so poorly-managed.

Every thing I had saw of this game is why I wasn't invested in trying to get it. Even with the news that they would finally add Kurenai Yuhi into the game is nice... until I also see that it seems like the *only* major thing that I can think of that's part of that *pack.* Even compared to the other characters, it's funny that she seems "isolated" from what little I've seen. I'm not against them repeating the rosters, but they *do* need to put in the work for a "Naruto x *BORUTO*" kinda game.
I'm mostly upset that the character's moveset didn't get a facelift, damn near everyone plays the same as before and didn't really bring many interesting characters Like sakumo hatake, third kazekage and other legendary ninja. Not to mention the lack of quality control too. Lacking defense despite everything being more aggressive than ever. Making like 90% of second jutsus the tilt instead of just keeping tilt and just working to make a new jutsu. Oppressive armor, terrible online features and battles. Whack voice acting, lacking boss battles. It just felt so half-assed.
I don't think storm 4 not having free roam for story mode had anything at all to do with constraints. At least not the constraints brought up or implied here. The real constraint they had was the part of the story they were on. The entire story takes place almost exclusively on a single battlefield, so where is the opportunity to add such a free roam to it? Am I gonna just run 20 feet to the next fight? Run another 20 feet to the next fight and so on? Where's the opportunity for any potential side missions if we are in the middle of a long continuous war battle? That part of the story just doesn't work with free roam and adventure mode was clearly their compromise for not being able to do it. Which is another thing, they did still have free roam, so it wasn't that they just couldn't do free roam because of anything like time constraints or outright laziness. The issue with free roam in storm 4 was never anything beyond just what that particular story consisted of.
So if I'm a relatively new-ish Naruto fan (I only just finally finished watching Shippuden a couple months ago), what game should I get? It's hard to tell what the Budokai Tenkaichi 3 of the series is from the outside
We need storm definitive edition which spans from episode one to the finale, with no history mod, everything being a story mod and recreating previous storm games epic moments.

They did add one legacy character, which was kurenai as an DLC, but still missing several others such as a couple of jonin that were in the series, filler characters from the anime, movie characters, 7 ninja swordsmen.... Etc etc... heck for this one I was hoping for at least being able to play borutos classmates but instead we just get extra Boruto costumes for the adults and karma villain members... Also the opening cutscene made me thought wow a new re-vamped story mode with new battle scenes? But nope we get a stupid slide shows... The special story is definitely the best part of the game, but it's a shame the new Uchiha and villain weren't playable.
Naruto to Boruto Shinobi Striker is absolutely the best Naruto game ever made, possibly the best anime game ever made alongside My Hero Ultra Rumble, never have I experienced two games that capture the feeling of what it would be like to actually play the anime better than those, don't sleep on either
Connections honestly was the final straw for me and I no longer look forward to any anime game releases anymore. I have a lot of time in the series and I spend a lot of time learning about/teaching others about the game, so I'll just drop the reasons why I feel like Connections was objectively the worst game in the series. For starters, it doesn't feel like the game has any personality anymore. The series has notoriously underutilized all of the cool mechanics and modes they come up with that could've been put to good use (Custom Ranked, Team Styles, stat boosts for thematic teams, accessories, the progressive dumbing down of awakenings, etc). You just have the bog standard battle mode with no innovation from the previous game beyond changing some stun animations to extend combos and giving us a second jutsu (most of which were just the old tilt attacks from previous games and we no longer have the ability to select which jutsus we want - yet another feature removed from the series). The online mode is incredibly dry and unpleasant, even more so than previous games. You don't even get to select who you fight anymore, you just get put into a match and prior to a recent update you couldn't even back out of the lobby if you know your opponent was laggy or a ragequitter. There's no interesting modes, it's literally just the same old 1v1 mode that we've been playing for years. I kid you not, the most fun I've had with Connections was during the limited time event where you got an insane damage boost for fulfilling random conditions (like, first person to land a grab, first person to jump, etc) and even then, they wouldn't let you play it with a friend. Tournament mode and Endless mode are permanently dead; nobody wants to sit in a laggy lobby watching people fight only to get randomly disconnected when it's finally their turn. The offline mode is absolutely abysmal. The original story was great IMO, but it was also short. History mode was boring. The biggest problem is that the AI is somehow even dumber in this game than it was in previous games. They will just randomly decide to dash away from you multiple times in a row for absolutely no reason. Watch the Obito AI at 20:39 - the moment the match starts, he dashes away 3 times, even though he's literally at the maximum distance. They'll randomly backdash away mid-combo, they won't substitute random attacks, some characters repeatedly use the same attack (Karin's AI will constantly use the dropkick for absolutely no reason). Finally, the game's riddled with bugs. Not only did Xbox not have online play when the game first came out, but since the game is barely changed from STORM 4, almost every bug that was present in STORM 4 returns in Connections. On top of that, the updates that were meant to "improve" online mode by "punishing ragequitters" introduced a new bug that randomly copies your opponent's controls to your save file. Also ragequitters can still get off scott free, so it was mostly for naught. Honestly I had the most fun with this series back with STORM 3 and Revolution, and whilst STORM 4 was probably overall the best game, it's also where I just fell out of love with STORM.
Thanks for the well written reply. I think the people who were the most disappointed by Connections were also the fans who cared the most about the series. I used to play every single release with my close friends from the Ultimate Ninja days up until Storm 4. When Connections came out, the magic just wasn't there. But saying that, I'm sure there are also plenty of fans who loved Connections. Either way, here's to hoping we get a Storm 5 in the future that can live up to the hype.
@@ComboTrigger I don't think we'll see a STORM 5 any time soon, and even if we do, I simply don't think I can convince myself to give it the same chance I did the others. The main problem is that STORM is pigeon-holed into what it is right now, and it's gotten stale. The bog-standard 1v1 fights with no dynamic elements or gimmicks are just so boring now. You mentioned in the video that CC2 doesn't consider STORM to be a competitive game - and I agree that fundamentally STORM is not a competitive game - but so many changes are made for the sake of a competitive scene and it has stripped all of the personality from the series. We lost so much cool stuff in the name of quick, streamlined online matches. No more Jutsu Clashing, no more unique and interesting awakenings, no more fun modes like Custom Ranked or Ninja World Tournament. Everything is tailored towards incredibly fast reaction-based mashfest of unintuitive and unenjoyable tech to find out who can out-dash their opponent. As much as everyone loved being able to swap characters mid-fight, I genuinely believe the tech that has come from leader switching is some of the most unenjoyable stuff to fight against, when your opponent is able to throw projectiles or launch jutsu at you whilst also dashing at you with another character, it's just a mess. I know a lot of the "top tier" players are gonna hate on me for that opinion but it's just how I feel. It just feels like STORM is trying to be a competitive game and it really isn't. It truly feels like CC2 doesn't even consider other modes anymore beyond your typical "1v1 mode" and "1v1 mode but also ranked". Even an optional mode that has some sort of variety or unique flavour would do wonders. Hell, I'd even take a mode that just lets you team up with a friend and they get control over one of the characters on your team (so when you leader switch they control the character instead of you). Just _something_ that isn't this slop of button mashing and jutsu spamming. My Hero: One's Justice had a mode like this but it never saw use because they made it so you couldn't partner up online, you could only play with someone else locally. I got a few friends together on Parsec to try it out and it was a hilarious, unbalanced mess, but we loved it. It was so different to what we usually played that it was a breath of fresh air. Deep down, I'm always rooting for CyberConnect2. I think their games look and sound beautiful, and I genuinely believe they are massive fans of the Naruto series. But as a consumer I just cannot justify supporting the series when it has gone so far downhill. I just watch it from the sidelines now, reminiscing of the times when I'd have full Endless lobbies of my buddies and I trying out random characters for fun. Sorry for the long rant, I just have a lot of love for the series and it sucks that it's gone the way it has.
No worries mate. I appreciate you taking the time to respond and yeah, I can see what you mean. It does feel like CC2 couldn't decide on what Storm wanted to be. They removed the gimmicks like you mentioned to make it more focused, but they didn't put in the work to balance everything to make it more competitively viable.
I would also say that Shinobi Striker isnt successful/live from DLC alone, they also do Buffs/Nerfs of moves and sometimes reworks of jutsu, and not to mention new maps. That and the fact that the fighting and gameplay overall a first to the series (which to be honest a 1v1 fighting game gets boaring pretty fast)
The secret factor in the sasuke vs itachi fight in history mode had this hilarious dub line "Theres no other duo like you and me bro". I do like the game play and how absurd combos work now since how the physics changed with certain attacks but yea the only good content was the unique story mode. History mode worked better on the pretimeskip stuff everything else is a downgrade. They somehow made the sasuke vs naruto final battle slightly harder to S rank. CC2 RELEASE a classic .hack collection with first 4 games and a collection with the psp naruto games. Storm 1s retelling is pretty rough despite the mission stuff being fun.. at least u dont have to unlock the characters in connections. You have to unlock colors and outfits
to be honest this whole video's just told me that bandai namco has never been willingf to give the cc2 team enough time or money to make the games as good as they would like to.
For me Shinobi Strikers is more fun than Storm with its quality and other issues, most of the Jutsus in Shinobi feel somewhat lore accuate to how they would work in show and have very interesting interactions with one another than I dont see happening in storm currently. The only problem I do have with Shinobi is the gacha style system they have for clothing and weapons sometimes which are needed to play in online and stand a chance to with people whove put in the hours to learn the advance movement with animation canceling among other things, I know a bit about how to do it myself but never really got into the mindset of doing it all the time and the training to do it consistently.
Call me weird but I actually like Shinobi Striker for what it is. I really like both movement and artstyle of the game way more than the Storm games and I wish for a single player title with that fidelity. The Storm PC ports were always kind of a meme and CC2 didnt polish them up for Connections to feature more than 60FPS, HDR, higher res models and effects, no upscaling or general polish.. I have no real hopes for the Storm games anymore but I do hope Soleil pours another one out for us. The PSP entries will probably forever remain my favourites and thats that...
They didn’t give us any non cannon characters from any of the Naruto movies to increase the roster and playable characters they took wall running off which is crazy to me because their literally ninjas that can run on walls that shouldn’t have left out. There was no environmental destruction like sparking zero. Like man we need unreal engines they know what they’re doing.
As a Naruto fan who was disappointed in Storm Connections, I would say this was a very well put together overall summary video. As a KH fan, that 358 joke was too good. Automatically subscribed.
Say what you will about the evolution of the series and how it improved and fumbled past 2, I still fully believe Storm 2 is the magnum opus of CC2. It’s just so insanely well crafted throughout the entire game from visuals, to music, to gameplay. They nailed just about everything. And it covers my favorite arcs in Naruto so I may be a bit biased but my god do they absolutely kill it when it comes to key moments. The Jiraiya Vs Pain boss battle is probably my favorite fight in the entire series to date.

Anyone remember the naruto card game and how you'd get cards in the storm cases? Fucked up that Haku and Zabuza were cut from storm 1 but they gave us shiny cards of them BOTH.
Storm 4 had the best battles Storm 3 had the best Storymode Storm Revolution was one of my favorite games, because the tournament even if it didn´t make any sense at all reminded me of Storm 3´s tournament side story and using the rails to divebomb a Rasengan into 3 enemies at once felt really satisfying However I also never played online and basically only had 1 Human Opponent from Ultimate Ninja 3 all the way to Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: My older brother. And my best memories in the games usually came from playing either with (doing the campaigns and switching between battles/segments) or against him. And honestly one of the biggest reasons, besides Connections seeming like a glorified Storm 4 DLC from the trailers, the thought of realistically not playing against him as we´re both adults now, meant I really didn´t have much of an incentive to buy the game at all. And seeing this VIdeo and the reactions from the Community really makes it seem like the proper decision.
Just make a Storm game without the filler fluff, all previous characters, Arenas, Boss fights with Audio unchanged, Add a few Pts and Boruto bosses, Clips instead of Still Images, And all the previous battle modes but online too. Not hard to mess up!
I was thinking towards its release it was gonna basically remake the old games to make them more accurate to the anime. Guess what they did, they took the old games, made them worse and reused the same QTEs like what’s the point of even putting the old games in there if you can clear an arc is like 20 minutes or less. Also what’s with anime games and those Slide Shows now. Old storm games used to have some really amazing cutscenes and now we have those slideshows that someone probably made in 3 minutes.
I get that if they do a "all in one" Naruto Storm game, they don't have much to do after the fact, but holy hell would a complete package of the entire Naruto Story sell like hotcakes. If only the combat was a bit more engaging.
All the pushing of Boruto rubbed me the wrong way. They never gave us the gold and silver brothers, the 7 swordmen of the mist, Orochimaru 8 headed hydra, jugo cursed mark 2, etc.

To be fair, the game has boruto in the title but there’s a HUGE lack of boruto characters in the game still. I do agree though Naruto characters should get love too. 4/5 of season pass is otsutsuki characters.
Its literally the only bussines decision that makes sense, all those characters you named are complete nobodies who aren't even characters.
Boruto and its characters actually exist naratively and you can create movesets and abilities from the anime and manga instead of a bunch of nobodies with no set moves or fans.
The others are just pallete swaps of existing characters like Orochimaru and Jugo who barely has any distinct moves to choose from.

Got storm 4 for dirt cheap on steam, and found a mod called Ninja Storm 4: Evolution that makes Connections irrelevant.

The problem with that mod is there’s no ranked or matchmaking, you have to find people with the mod on discord which means you can’t play someone on your own time. The mod is cool but storm 4 is 8 years old and sluggish to me but that is a good alternative if you want to use connections characters even though it looks like piracy importing them to another game.
We basically got none of the Boruto classmates. They definitely didn't work on this for that long. We didn't even get Shikimaru's son, and he was coded into Storm 4.
Like I'm curious why they keep including him in the title for little payoff too.

Storm 2 and 3 was a historic run, if 4 didn't skimp on story it would've been the best adaptation of shippuden gamers could've asked for.
3 was insane with the added kabuto story thing. 4 using anime shots for cutscenes killed my interest in the story completely. Storm 1-3 was legit the best way to experience the story.

Storm Connections released just under a year ago and still only has 2 of its 5 DLC packs. The "support" is minimal, and the game blatantly falls flat in every area imo

It’s been around half a year. Half of that time was spent waiting for an update to add custom lobbies and fix the game. It’s only been a couple of months now that they’ve been releasing DLC, but that isn’t even the problem. Every pack that they’ve released only has one character. Two packs in a couple of months wouldn’t even be that bad because the packs would USUALLY each have multiple characters.
That Storm 2 character select OST is music to my ears.

For me Naruto Storm Connections it doesn’t feels like a new Storm game at all, they changed only a few buttons commands and nothing more, the fact that they removed Tilts and they put the tilts moves on the second jutsus it's pretty lame, disappointing and lackluster, not to mention that they removed the jutsus selection completely from the beginning of the fight. 🤦🏻♂️ This game feels more like an update DLC than like an actual New Storm Game. But honestly, for me Storm 1 will remain the most Unique one from the series and the closest to the anime itself because of the very dynamic gameplay features, my reasons: Intro of characters before the encounter, unique jutsus that didn't came back to the other Storm games, longer and diverse movesets for almost any character, Awakenings in Storm 1 have also Ultimate Jutsus, Jutsus Clashes and Wall Fighting... and I can go on and on to state it why Storm 1 gameplay was the most unique one from the Storm Series, just try to Imagine Storm 4 gameplay with Storm 1 gameplay features, In my opinion that will be the Perfect Storm game. The First Storm game has the most Unique gameplay features perspective and the particular presentation of the game was so ahead of it's time in my opinion, the only downside of the first Storm game was the very lacking Story Mode Interactions, and from Storm 3 the developers cut and shortned the movesets of characters, that's why I don't agree with their choices. (By the way, my favourite Storm games and I will put them in my personal order will be: 1.Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 and Generations. (these have my favourite vibe and charm of the anime itself because of the dynamic gameplay features)
2. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2( for the unique Story and some Unique Boss Battles and let's not forget that Iconic "Calm Before the Storm" OST from the Characters Selection Screen and many more diverse soundtracks)
3. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (Because of the more well-rounded diverse Story Perspective and very epic Boss Battles and also the soundtrack "Outside Konoha" and others soundtracks as well)
4. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 (mostly because of the unique option to change/switch between your characters team during the fight, this particular option mechanics should've been already in the game from the very first Storm game in my opinion)
5. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution (because of the abused and annoying Counter mechanic) 🤷🏻♂️

So I played and tried liking Naruto to Boruto Shinobi Striker, but something about how It played and the feeling of the world just felt off to me, then I saw the sheer amount of stuff being paywalled with the character training (even Boruto Era Sasuke who Is *literally asked* to be your mentor) and quit shortly after, I then saw Connections, checked If there were other Storm games on Steam and bought the bundle of 1 through 4 on sale and don't Intend on buying Connections after my experience with Shinobi Striker, and I'm a fan of Xenoverse 2

In all honesty I have 600 hours on connections and I’m top 30 in the world. The game isn’t bad at all it just needed to be delayed because of all the problems it had at launch like pre patch, no custom lobbies, and rage quits but not only that, the game price is not justifiable. Bandai was able to get away with pricing storm for that amount with content like that back then but people are beginning to realize they want more from a storm game. People call connections a storm dlc or 4.5 but in all honesty if you go by those standards every storm game has been a dlc. Storm 1 is the only unique storm game in the franchise. After Storm 2 every game has the same movesets, same stages, and added new or changed mechanics to make the game feel different.
People expected a brand new game that was different from the previous titles due it being 7 years since the last title but connections was only made in almost 1 or 2 years. Storm connections isn’t the problem, people are just sick of Storm. What the people need is a storm reboot. Which is what CC2 was going for in the beginning. Storm connections wasn’t suppose to be the game it is now. A open world storm game was in development at CC2 but it was scrapped and Storm connections was made last minute. There’s proof of dev builds for the game being recorded as early as 2019. The problem is Bandai rushing titles. Storm 4 was rushed, demon slayer was rushed, and also connections. I see the game connections was trying to be. Storm 4 is 8 years old, locked at 30 fps. Storm 4 was still an actively played game and it made BIG numbers over the years so we were in due for an updated storm for the newer generations of consoles. Storm connections does that with slightly better netcode and 60 fps. I also enjoy the game mechanics making the roster more viable compared to Storm 4s and the character customization.
Storm connections had the formula to be successful they just should’ve made the game cheaper or free to play and profit from a in game shop where you can buy accessories and dlc characters. Also they should’ve added an online version of the Storm revolution battle royale mode. In my opinion that would’ve saved the game but I believe connections will grow into a good game with consistent updates and be the definitive Storm.

Very comprehensive coverage of the storm series I love it. Just wanted to add a few things: false or misleading advertising and storm 4s voice acting too.
Storm 3 had v jump magazine scans for the edo kage and kurama Naruto. For them to just be story mode (or an ultimate jutsu) which felt like a spit in the face, who the fuck releases a magazine scam promoting new characters in a game that are just normal enemies you only fight in the story mode. It's obvious they did this to bait you into thinking they were new characters.
Also storm 4 went out of its way to make sure you didn't know about their dumb anime stills until release. Every ad for the game showed only the cut scenes that were animated.
Also may be a dub thing but the voice acting for story mode was pretty bad, but one line on particular still sticks with me and I'm not sure if it's because of the translation team being to literal for the voice actor or something. When Madara joins Obito in the story Naruto says and I quote "Weren't you fighting THAT grandma."...
That grandma? Bro wtf why wouldn't he say "Grand ma Tsunade" it sounds impersonal and like he doesn't really know who she is. Small gripe but still there were others I felt were off. That one just stands out.

That would require a lot of input and direction from kishimoto. And he's already so busy and overworked. Thats not happening.

If they just would give us these characters as dlc for Storm 4 no one would ever have a problem with the storm series but yeah they did the destroyed this franchise. We need a new Naruto game. A well crafted story mode what covers the entire Naruto saga from Naruto's journeys until Boruto's, interactive story cutszene, player choises and branching paths that can impact the storys outcome, more Boruto Characters, All awakenings like Jugos, Sasuke's Juin Mode, Naruto 1, 2 or 3 Tailed kyubi. More Team ultimate jutsus did you ever think thow shameful it is what we still don't even have a Team Ulti between Jiraiya-Naruto, Naruto-Sakura, Team Yamato, Team Kakashi, Team Taka, Sasuke-Orochimaru and much more. Openworld is the most important thing to make a Naruto game fun to play. Just imagine a real openworld naruto game like (Assassin's creed or The Broken bond) and to be able visiting Konoha, Suna, Land of Waves and the whole Ninja world from Naruto. In a Openworld game we also need many interesting side quests or minigames like catching animals like Narutos first mission, climbing from a tree to a tree, push ups with rock lee and guy or ramen contest (imagine doing all these stuff online with other players). Character customisation and much more. Game developers are just to lazy today.. they just want easy money from fans nothing more. Look how many pupular anime game bandai namco and they "smal" game developmers created like Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed clash, Shinobi Striker, One Justice My hero, Black Clover Quartat knights and and and! Woud you rate this games more than 6/10?

Just accept the fact that Bandai Namco small companies can't maje any good new game anymore expect some some games like Dbkakarot, the storm series until 4 and pirate warriors 3. But even this, imagine a Openworld One Piece game..Exploring the ocean with noumerous islands and the world one piece world with luffys crew beeing able to cutting trees, fishing, beating monster and cooking like Sanji. Beeing able to play the whole story. Sailing and Ship Management, allowing players to upgrade and customiuze their ship including weaponry, sails, aethetics. Recruting manage the crew and naval combat and of course beeing able to play it with friends too in a online mode. I think every one piece would like a game like this and im sure bandai namco has the money to make a game like this.. they are just to lazy and dont want to put so much energy in games like this.
@@borub.817 companies, especially Japanese companies like Bandai, Shueisha, and Nintendo are old-fahsioned and the only language they speak is money. Making money, cutting corners to save money. That’s what they care about because they're just making licensed merchandise off of brand recognition. You would have to pry the rights from their cold, dead hands to have a game like that made. Even if they did care enough to make the next DBZ Kakarot, that takes time and resources. Even just a cash grab arena fighter takes time and resources, as lazy as they are. All you can really do is hope they're that generous and are doing something good behind the scenes, but I wouldn't expect much from an old-fashioned, greedy Japanese company suckling revenue off of big IP's. They don't like change and have a really counter-prodictive work ethic and mentality. To say the least, they're out of touch and they like it that way. All this isn't to say having ideas is bad, but I wouldn't expect much out of lazy rights holders. To them, games are merch. I'm sure the devs themselves don't get the time or resources to make what they actually want. It's all so poorly-managed.

I don't think enough people listen when they hear that the best way to tell the publisher their product sucks is to not buy it. Indie devs will publish gold for 20 bucks while AAA and big licensed publishers will shill out slop at full price then support it with years upon years of minimal DLC
Every thing I had saw of this game is why I wasn't invested in trying to get it. Even with the news that they would finally add Kurenai Yuhi into the game is nice... until I also see that it seems like the *only* major thing that I can think of that's part of that *pack.* Even compared to the other characters, it's funny that she seems "isolated" from what little I've seen.
I'm not against them repeating the rosters, but they *do* need to put in the work for a "Naruto x *BORUTO*" kinda game.
There were too many good fighting games either out or was coming out for me to ever even consider buying connections. Lol

I'm mostly upset that the character's moveset didn't get a facelift, damn near everyone plays the same as before and didn't really bring many interesting characters Like sakumo hatake, third kazekage and other legendary ninja. Not to mention the lack of quality control too. Lacking defense despite everything being more aggressive than ever. Making like 90% of second jutsus the tilt instead of just keeping tilt and just working to make a new jutsu. Oppressive armor, terrible online features and battles. Whack voice acting, lacking boss battles. It just felt so half-assed.
I don't think storm 4 not having free roam for story mode had anything at all to do with constraints. At least not the constraints brought up or implied here. The real constraint they had was the part of the story they were on. The entire story takes place almost exclusively on a single battlefield, so where is the opportunity to add such a free roam to it? Am I gonna just run 20 feet to the next fight? Run another 20 feet to the next fight and so on? Where's the opportunity for any potential side missions if we are in the middle of a long continuous war battle? That part of the story just doesn't work with free roam and adventure mode was clearly their compromise for not being able to do it. Which is another thing, they did still have free roam, so it wasn't that they just couldn't do free roam because of anything like time constraints or outright laziness. The issue with free roam in storm 4 was never anything beyond just what that particular story consisted of.

They did add one legacy character, which was kurenai as an DLC, but still missing several others such as a couple of jonin that were in the series, filler characters from the anime, movie characters, 7 ninja swordsmen.... Etc etc... heck for this one I was hoping for at least being able to play borutos classmates but instead we just get extra Boruto costumes for the adults and karma villain members...
Also the opening cutscene made me thought wow a new re-vamped story mode with new battle scenes? But nope we get a stupid slide shows...
The special story is definitely the best part of the game, but it's a shame the new Uchiha and villain weren't playable.

Naruto to Boruto Shinobi Striker is absolutely the best Naruto game ever made, possibly the best anime game ever made alongside My Hero Ultra Rumble, never have I experienced two games that capture the feeling of what it would be like to actually play the anime better than those, don't sleep on either
I haven't tried My Hero yet, but yeah Shinobi Striker gives you crazy "this is Naruto" vibes when playing.

Connections honestly was the final straw for me and I no longer look forward to any anime game releases anymore. I have a lot of time in the series and I spend a lot of time learning about/teaching others about the game, so I'll just drop the reasons why I feel like Connections was objectively the worst game in the series.
For starters, it doesn't feel like the game has any personality anymore. The series has notoriously underutilized all of the cool mechanics and modes they come up with that could've been put to good use (Custom Ranked, Team Styles, stat boosts for thematic teams, accessories, the progressive dumbing down of awakenings, etc). You just have the bog standard battle mode with no innovation from the previous game beyond changing some stun animations to extend combos and giving us a second jutsu (most of which were just the old tilt attacks from previous games and we no longer have the ability to select which jutsus we want - yet another feature removed from the series).
The online mode is incredibly dry and unpleasant, even more so than previous games. You don't even get to select who you fight anymore, you just get put into a match and prior to a recent update you couldn't even back out of the lobby if you know your opponent was laggy or a ragequitter. There's no interesting modes, it's literally just the same old 1v1 mode that we've been playing for years. I kid you not, the most fun I've had with Connections was during the limited time event where you got an insane damage boost for fulfilling random conditions (like, first person to land a grab, first person to jump, etc) and even then, they wouldn't let you play it with a friend. Tournament mode and Endless mode are permanently dead; nobody wants to sit in a laggy lobby watching people fight only to get randomly disconnected when it's finally their turn.
The offline mode is absolutely abysmal. The original story was great IMO, but it was also short. History mode was boring. The biggest problem is that the AI is somehow even dumber in this game than it was in previous games. They will just randomly decide to dash away from you multiple times in a row for absolutely no reason. Watch the Obito AI at 20:39 - the moment the match starts, he dashes away 3 times, even though he's literally at the maximum distance. They'll randomly backdash away mid-combo, they won't substitute random attacks, some characters repeatedly use the same attack (Karin's AI will constantly use the dropkick for absolutely no reason).
Finally, the game's riddled with bugs. Not only did Xbox not have online play when the game first came out, but since the game is barely changed from STORM 4, almost every bug that was present in STORM 4 returns in Connections. On top of that, the updates that were meant to "improve" online mode by "punishing ragequitters" introduced a new bug that randomly copies your opponent's controls to your save file. Also ragequitters can still get off scott free, so it was mostly for naught.
Honestly I had the most fun with this series back with STORM 3 and Revolution, and whilst STORM 4 was probably overall the best game, it's also where I just fell out of love with STORM.

I used to play every single release with my close friends from the Ultimate Ninja days up until Storm 4. When Connections came out, the magic just wasn't there. But saying that, I'm sure there are also plenty of fans who loved Connections. Either way, here's to hoping we get a Storm 5 in the future that can live up to the hype.
@@ComboTrigger I don't think we'll see a STORM 5 any time soon, and even if we do, I simply don't think I can convince myself to give it the same chance I did the others.
The main problem is that STORM is pigeon-holed into what it is right now, and it's gotten stale. The bog-standard 1v1 fights with no dynamic elements or gimmicks are just so boring now. You mentioned in the video that CC2 doesn't consider STORM to be a competitive game - and I agree that fundamentally STORM is not a competitive game - but so many changes are made for the sake of a competitive scene and it has stripped all of the personality from the series. We lost so much cool stuff in the name of quick, streamlined online matches. No more Jutsu Clashing, no more unique and interesting awakenings, no more fun modes like Custom Ranked or Ninja World Tournament.
Everything is tailored towards incredibly fast reaction-based mashfest of unintuitive and unenjoyable tech to find out who can out-dash their opponent. As much as everyone loved being able to swap characters mid-fight, I genuinely believe the tech that has come from leader switching is some of the most unenjoyable stuff to fight against, when your opponent is able to throw projectiles or launch jutsu at you whilst also dashing at you with another character, it's just a mess. I know a lot of the "top tier" players are gonna hate on me for that opinion but it's just how I feel. It just feels like STORM is trying to be a competitive game and it really isn't.
It truly feels like CC2 doesn't even consider other modes anymore beyond your typical "1v1 mode" and "1v1 mode but also ranked". Even an optional mode that has some sort of variety or unique flavour would do wonders. Hell, I'd even take a mode that just lets you team up with a friend and they get control over one of the characters on your team (so when you leader switch they control the character instead of you). Just _something_ that isn't this slop of button mashing and jutsu spamming.
My Hero: One's Justice had a mode like this but it never saw use because they made it so you couldn't partner up online, you could only play with someone else locally. I got a few friends together on Parsec to try it out and it was a hilarious, unbalanced mess, but we loved it. It was so different to what we usually played that it was a breath of fresh air.
Deep down, I'm always rooting for CyberConnect2. I think their games look and sound beautiful, and I genuinely believe they are massive fans of the Naruto series. But as a consumer I just cannot justify supporting the series when it has gone so far downhill. I just watch it from the sidelines now, reminiscing of the times when I'd have full Endless lobbies of my buddies and I trying out random characters for fun.
Sorry for the long rant, I just have a lot of love for the series and it sucks that it's gone the way it has.

It does feel like CC2 couldn't decide on what Storm wanted to be. They removed the gimmicks like you mentioned to make it more focused, but they didn't put in the work to balance everything to make it more competitively viable.
I would also say that Shinobi Striker isnt successful/live from DLC alone, they also do Buffs/Nerfs of moves and sometimes reworks of jutsu, and not to mention new maps. That and the fact that the fighting and gameplay overall a first to the series (which to be honest a 1v1 fighting game gets boaring pretty fast)
The secret factor in the sasuke vs itachi fight in history mode had this hilarious dub line "Theres no other duo like you and me bro". I do like the game play and how absurd combos work now since how the physics changed with certain attacks but yea the only good content was the unique story mode.
History mode worked better on the pretimeskip stuff everything else is a downgrade. They somehow made the sasuke vs naruto final battle slightly harder to S rank.

For me Shinobi Strikers is more fun than Storm with its quality and other issues, most of the Jutsus in Shinobi feel somewhat lore accuate to how they would work in show and have very interesting interactions with one another than I dont see happening in storm currently. The only problem I do have with Shinobi is the gacha style system they have for clothing and weapons sometimes which are needed to play in online and stand a chance to with people whove put in the hours to learn the advance movement with animation canceling among other things, I know a bit about how to do it myself but never really got into the mindset of doing it all the time and the training to do it consistently.
Call me weird but I actually like Shinobi Striker for what it is. I really like both movement and artstyle of the game way more than the Storm games and I wish for a single player title with that fidelity. The Storm PC ports were always kind of a meme and CC2 didnt polish them up for Connections to feature more than 60FPS, HDR, higher res models and effects, no upscaling or general polish.. I have no real hopes for the Storm games anymore but I do hope Soleil pours another one out for us. The PSP entries will probably forever remain my favourites and thats that...
They didn’t give us any non cannon characters from any of the Naruto movies to increase the roster and playable characters they took wall running off which is crazy to me because their literally ninjas that can run on walls that shouldn’t have left out. There was no environmental destruction like sparking zero. Like man we need unreal engines they know what they’re doing.
As a Naruto fan who was disappointed in Storm Connections, I would say this was a very well put together overall summary video. As a KH fan, that 358 joke was too good. Automatically subscribed.
Say what you will about the evolution of the series and how it improved and fumbled past 2, I still fully believe Storm 2 is the magnum opus of CC2. It’s just so insanely well crafted throughout the entire game from visuals, to music, to gameplay. They nailed just about everything. And it covers my favorite arcs in Naruto so I may be a bit biased but my god do they absolutely kill it when it comes to key moments. The Jiraiya Vs Pain boss battle is probably my favorite fight in the entire series to date.
Tbh, I have the fondest memories of 2 as well. All the boss fights were bangers plus it had Lars lol

Storm Revolution was one of my favorite games, because the tournament even if it didn´t make any sense at all reminded me of Storm 3´s tournament side story and using the rails to divebomb a Rasengan into 3 enemies at once felt really satisfying
However I also never played online and basically only had 1 Human Opponent from Ultimate Ninja 3 all the way to Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: My older brother. And my best memories in the games usually came from playing either with (doing the campaigns and switching between battles/segments) or against him. And honestly one of the biggest reasons, besides Connections seeming like a glorified Storm 4 DLC from the trailers, the thought of realistically not playing against him as we´re both adults now, meant I really didn´t have much of an incentive to buy the game at all. And seeing this VIdeo and the reactions from the Community really makes it seem like the proper decision.
Just make a Storm game without the filler fluff, all previous characters, Arenas, Boss fights with Audio unchanged, Add a few Pts and Boruto bosses, Clips instead of Still Images, And all the previous battle modes but online too. Not hard to mess up!

I was thinking towards its release it was gonna basically remake the old games to make them more accurate to the anime. Guess what they did, they took the old games, made them worse and reused the same QTEs like what’s the point of even putting the old games in there if you can clear an arc is like 20 minutes or less. Also what’s with anime games and those Slide Shows now. Old storm games used to have some really amazing cutscenes and now we have those slideshows that someone probably made in 3 minutes.
