R. Strauss Violin Concerto in D minor I. Allegro 0:30 II. Lento, ma non troppo 15:38 III. Rondo. Presto 21:45 Enco: E. Yasye Violin Sanata No.5 Mvt.1 33:25
Richard Strauss is one of my favourite composer, so i love his poems symphonics. I didnt know this concerto. But its clear that is an elaborated work and that its neccesary to be an highest artist to play it. So, congratulations to her and to orquestra.❤
For me it's up there with Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Brahms & Tchaikovsky. But nobody is listening or taking the risk to actually perform it. It's all about money!
This concerto is reminiscent of the concertos of Vieuxtemps. It is seldom played in public and is a far cry from his famous tone poems. Strauss wrote it when he was 18 years old (1882.) According to one critic of the time, this piece had the potential of surpassing Max Bruch's first concerto in popularity but, of course, that never happened. It was first recorded in 1976.
What a concerto!!! Encore, encore, that should be played all over the world. So sadly neglected but just listen to the audience!! Yet look who conducts..... A genius.
Alena!!! Wow. You play like a great force of nature. So powerful and sometimes delicate. You amaze me. You are the greatest violinist of our generation

Absolutely stellar playing, and nice to hear this rarely played concerto. Although an early work it is very beautiful, and she plays it with such passion and commitment.
She might be a good player and I love her phrasing but in this performance she wasn’t clean and her intonation it’s doubtful and feel more like she didn’t have enough time to get the piece ready at this point that she didn’t even memorize it.
I think that's harsh Andy. Comparison live performances are rare as this work is ridiculously neglected. But you should trust Paavo Jarvi that he wouldn't let such a thing as you mention happen. Just listen to the audience reaction. That's entirely because he didn't.
One more thing, if you actually watch the performance, she hardly looks at the the music whilst she plays. She know's what's she's playing. Refrain from unjust criticism in the future, or are you a professional music critic who knows nothing, as nearly all of them do?
No wonder, with three little kids she's taking care of. Almost all soloists make a few intonation mistakes which are inevitable in live performances (humans aren't robots, after all). And you cannot compare her with male soloists who can afford practicing 10 hours a day with no need to care for loved ones.

An under-rated concerto, a great performance, and a beautiful lady!
A very early work by the master of the orchestra . Highly neglected and underrated . A wonderful performance here.

She is a fantastic violinist. I'm looking forward to seeing her in Seoul, Korea in May 2025.
