Oh that turret board assembled is gorgeous! You have made a masterpiece. This amp is beautiful and it looks very well put together. Thanks for sharing this, Mr. Hansen.
I've been building guitars and custom cases just for friends but the electronics really intimidate me. It stops me from building my own. This thing you've built is a work of art. Good Job!
I am sorry that I accidentally deleted the drawings of the cabinet on my website. They should now be in place again, I will try not to clean up so much in the future!
Many thanks for the nice words, I have now built 9 different tube amplifiers, of which 5 are my own design and construction. It has been a dream from my boys years to try to play with electronics. Now I've tried it and now I've sold all my material for tube amplifier manufacturing. So now there are other things to be explored. Here is a link to my page where I describe all my amplifier projects. bolimbo.dk/guitarer/forstaerkere/Tubeamp.php
The guitar in the picture is made by "Bjørn Nielsen", the man who ordered and bought the amplifier from me. I borrowed the picture from him. In addition to playing guitar, he is also a skilled photographer. :-)
I must have missed something! All them knobs! My amp would be simple. One volume control, one Bass control, one treble control. That admiral record player amp is more my style. 73
Thank you so much for posting this. Your handiwork is impressive. So, on the panel prints...you just printed onto a transparency? Is there a program which can be downloaded for the layout on these? What would be needed for a longer print (chassis)? Thank you for your time...
Hi! thanks for the nice words. I use the AutoCAD application because it draws and prints in the 1: 1 aspect ratio. It is an expensive program used for construction drawing. I think maybe that you can download a test program for AutoCAD I can not find bigger clear label sheets than A4, so I have to split the print into 2 and then collect it at approx. middle. I'm not professional but amateur so I'm doing what I think best!
Beautiful - nice sound and a gorgeous cabinet. Always wondered why more of us don't take that route. really nice job. can you point us to where you found the best schematic for the amplifier itself?
The first 4 amplifiers I made were a Fender Champ / Kalamaso, Marshall 18 watts and 2 Marshall 1930 Popular. The following 5 are my own design and construction, I have designed and calculated my own schematic and made my own layout. But here is a link to my web page where all descriptions and construction processes can be seen. bolimbo.dk/guitarer/forstaerkere/Tubeamp.php

It is very difficult to say, and compared to the expense Chinese can make it for, it may not pay off. If you are going to buy all the parts, transformers, capacitors, tubes, resistors, reverb unit, speakers etc. it could cost between $ 750 - $ 1000, -. Regards Bo Grave Hansen
Hi Bo, Excellent job designing and constructing the amplifier. I like that you chose to use unconventional tubes in the design. Would it be possible for you to explain how the control panels were made? I see you printed on some kind of transparency, but how did you get the information to the printer? Was there some particular software used? Thanks, Tom

If you have no experience in building tube amps, then I would advise you to start with something simple. I'm going to double-down on Ash's recommendation. The 5F1 is an easier circuit to build and it is so gratifying- loads of tone in that amp! And the mods...It is a great blank canvas for mods in that there is not a lot of stuff in the way, and you will learn a ton about how these things work. On a personal note, after getting my feet wet with a few successful projects, I was hoping that I could build amps instead of buying them. Nope- I do both now because I cannot seem to get enough. I’m looking at starting an amp build from scratch as well. I’m a total beginner with that kind of stuff though. Any advice for getting started?

I started with a simple 5 watts amplifier.

Awesome thank you!
The fender champ 5f1 is a really good build to start with, its simple and there's plenty of mods out there to really make it your own.
