    After reading several comments, I am wondering if Danny is becoming the latest Florida tourist attraction. He could buy an old depot to set up an HQ with a restaurant. Have the local train group put in a small model train. Have a theater to run vids. Sell popcorn, merch.

    I can't thank you enough for doing what you do and sharing it with us. I don't have the capability to do what you do so I appreciate your bringing the trains to me! You take stunning footage of them. Excellent drone work! Very beautiful.
    The overpass made me think about one of my earliest childhood memories of spotting a train going over the highway driving in the car with my parents. Once spotted, I kept looking for them.

      I've lived in my town for 25 years and the paranoia has invaded. I used to sit half way down a dead end road and watched freight trains on 3 parallel tracks but the Town built a water treatment plant next to the rails and the folks at the plant don't like people parked nearby whether you are taking pictures or not. Until last fall there were no signs stating "No Parking" here, there or anywhere or any other signage but despite this more and more police come by to find out why I'm watching trains. After my last traffic "Stop" last July they had big red signs installed at the entrance to the dead end that have no trespassing and trespassers will be arrested posted. I worked doing fire and EMS for 20 years and I'm a Life member of the town's rescue squad but that doesn't mean to much anymore. Paranoia, sheeeesh!

      nw24153ns wow, that’s really unfortunate to hear. Whenever I feel that there’s a risk of getting talked to by the police, I just remember that what I was doing was perfectly legal, and as long as I didn’t trespass I should be okay. I have nothing against the police, in fact I’m totally for them. But for some reason when it comes to filming trains, I just get the feeling that they never understand why we do it

When I'm watching other railfan videos and I see rails converge or diverge and I wonder what line is that, who owns/owned it, etc., Danny answers those questions before I even ask. 5:50 Watching those coal cars go by reminded me of the early 1980s when I worked in administration at the old General Portland Cement plant on Krome Avenue about two miles south of Tamiami Trail. We got our raw materials by rail, which included coal, clay, and kaolin. Each of our two kilns burned 10 tons of coal an hour so we got regular shipments of coal. Anyway, we had a car tipper and a car shaker as well as two small yard engines to move cars. It was always fun to watch the tipper turn those clay and kaolin cars.
    They used the car shaker mostly on the coal cars, and man it shook the hell out of those cars. It was lowered onto the car and sat on the edges of the car. The hit the switch and shook the car, then moved it along the car over the next hopper and shook.

    Those Amtrak engineers and their precision horn blowing is quite unique and classy to me as making a statement of the trains they run. And good advise as when to travel if someone like myself is to venture down that way in the winter from the northeastern parts here. Thanks again mister and always look forward to your presentations sir....

    • @amtrak706
      @amtrak706 4 роки тому +2

      Todd Brown It’s not a difference in engineers, it’s a difference in equipment. Amtrak’s P42s have a unique dual-value setup with a two-stage horn button that makes a very recognizable precision half-blast sound if the button is half-pressed. Modern freight locomotives just have a single stage solenoid, so freight engineers can’t really do half-blast. Back in the day, though, all locomotives had manual horn valves that allowed each engineer his own style of blowing the horn.
