I made chicken and noodles last night . I made homemade noodles . No cream of chicken . Favorite meal of my husband’s. We had to put his dog down last night so like a good Oklahoma wife I made his favorite food . He is so sad . Breaks my heart .

I love to make this. But I don't add any thickener. Just make a big pan of hot buttery cornbread to crumble in the bowl....then pour the chicken & "noodles" over it. Mmm...mmm....good! My dad was a baptist minister for over 55 years. We made a lot of friends and met a lot of good cooks too at the churches he pastored. It's like a trip down memory lane for me to sit and look through some of the recipes we've saved up over the years from our church family members. Dad used to always say....."in order to be a member of the baptist church.....ya gotta be a good cook". 😋

I have a couple tips for you,
    1. When pouring chicken broth out of a Tetra Pak, position the spout towards the top and as you pour oxygen will go into the box and pour easier. The position of the spout is opposite of what you would think
    2. When you have a cream soup in a recipe, put the cream soup in your vessel first and gradually add the liquid as you whisk. This will result in a creamy texture without having to chase the chunks.
I love your recipes and can’t wait for each video. Thank you and Melissa for your kindness.

Recently discovered your channel and have enjoyed it since. I'm a former Navy cook and a retired chef w/ 35 years in the galley. I've prepped and cooked everything for everyone; from high ranking officers to celebrities, to sports stars and the homeless... and even British royalty. But this is the food I most enjoy cooking. Home-cooked meals, country recipes, comfort food. My family was originally from the Northeastern Ohio area and the Pennsylvania Dutch region, so good ol' home cooking is in my blood. Thanks for rekindling fond memories of Mom's and Dad's cooking from when I was a kid. Keep up the wonderful videos.

I really appreciate recipes where I don’t have to drain the noodles, cause I m crippled, so when I need noodles cooked, any kind of pasta, I have my neighbor or my daughter drain them for me, I always do the whole bag, divide it up into two portions and freeze it , it quart bags. Some times I get four bags, etc.

You can also put your chicken in a quart size ziploc back, zip it up and massage the chicken from the outside of the back. It shredded inside the bag. If you don't use all the chicken then just keep the extra in the bag. Fridge or freezer. No need to dirty a mixer. 😊

    Hi Lovely People,
Tom you are a great cook...so was my Dad (Miss him very much). I will be definitely making this for hubby and I this weekend. Just wanted to offer a couple notes on adding goodness and taste. You kept using the word "boil" when you cooked your chicken, you should not cook your chicken at a boil, it will toughen the meat, let it cook at a light simmer till done. Also I like to simmer my chicken in chicken broth or bullion with water and add diced celery and diced onions. I know you were making this a marvelous quick and easy meal and my additions add more work and time, but honestly, I have to add onion and celery to anything chicken cooked or cold. Your broth would be enhanced so much. Adding peas and carrots was a great idea, add a bag of frozen mix veggies and it will make a great chowder with that delicious gravy/sauce. So very very extra yummy...
    Love and hugs to both,
    Cookee

Those noodles are awesome, as close to homemade that I've ever found. Your recipe looks very tasty. I would probably add veggies too, and keep my chicken in bite size chunks. But that's just me. I know it would taste delicious either way!!

Thus looks interesting. I grew up with old fashion chicken and noodles. It isn't made anything like yours.
We slow boiled a whole chicken. While it cooked we made home made noodles ( eggs and flour) some people add da l t, I don't; I think it makes them tough. Once chicken is cooked. Remove all the chicken bones and fat. Roll your noodles thin and cut to desired thickness, I do this with a knife. Add them to your broth. Add salt and pepper, to taste. It takes about 20 minutes to cook your noodles. If they are too thin, you can add some of the broth with some flour and use that to thicken to desired thickness. We served them with or over mashed potatoes and served with green beans and yeast rolls. This was often a Sunday afternoon dinner. Yum

Sorry, I left out a step or two. Pick your chicken off the bones and break it up into chunks/shred and add them to the noodles before serving

I make this often. I add some hot sauce (texas pete or cholula) while cooking for the extra kick. Great simple groceries!

I just made your chicken and noodles recipe for dinner for my daughter and I. It was delicious! I added half a bag of mixed vegetables and it was perfect! Generally, I’m not such a good cook, but your recipe was so easy that it turned out just right. Thank you for sharing your dear friend’s recipe. 😊

Effortless and Easy! I subbed out the chicken breast for my Costco rotisserie chicken. That's what I had on hand. I did use my Amish type noodles. It was delicious!!!

In FL, we are finding it difficult to find WIDE noodles. Liked the Amish ones that you used.

I made this for dinner. I made a small change, I used the butter to saute onions and celery. I added frozen peas. Easy to make and yummy to eat.

I make mine in the crockpot. Once the chicken is done, take out & shred & add back to broth. Add those noodlrs(they are the best)and let them cook about 40 minutes. The broth thickens on it's own. So good!
