I think they both serve a good purpose. Revolvers are classic, reliable, simple to use and have really evolved over the years in their weight and size which has made them more enjoyable to carry. While the .22 LR is certainly better than nothing at all, the .22 Magnum is a superior choice. Not just for the increased power, but reliability as well. Both are rimfire rounds, so not as reliable as centerfire like .38 Special. But of the two, the .22 Magnum has been shown to be more reliable than .22 LR. Now Ruger managed to fit 8 rounds of .22 LR in their LCR, but only 6 rounds of .22 Magnum in the same gun. Kind of strange. The Ruger LCR is a great revolver for other calibers, but it comes up short on the .22 for some reason.
There's really not a difference outta that tiny barrel and that's been proven, in fact the magnum is louder, bigger flash, more expensive and harder to find Soo 22lr which are $7.95 for 50rds is most definitely the superior choice between the two, if you're using a longer barrel sure, u could make that argument but we're talking about a barrel that doesn't allow the magnum round to burn enough powder to make a difference
