    With rimfire cartridges, for me, a revolver is the best choice. In a high stress situation revolvers are very forgiving. So what it only holds 8.. If the placement of the first shot is dead on the other 7 are just for backup.

      @Chic 'N' Stu Problem is with .22, you will need those extra shots, as the first or second shot will just make them angry

      @@LA_Commander standards aren’t the end-all resource for what is actually practical. Plenty of people get killed every year by .22lr, and dead is dead- no matter what caliber got you there. Also, FBI standards do not excuse the asinine comment that the first shots would “just make them angry”. If they were on drugs, perhaps-but shot placement should be first and foremost, and will negate any issues with .22 that were just brought up.

    When you need protection, a .22 in your pocket is better then the .45 at home. (Note: The bad guy is not going to scoff and say "That's only a .22" as he stares down the barrel.)

    For years I thought I was an out of touch old dude for liking my revolvers a little more than my auto's. It seems to me that there is a resurgence of revolvers interest with many new models and some old models coming back on the market. Is there a reason for this? I just like their simple operation and dislike those hard to load magazines beyond 5-6 rounds and slides.

    • @9MilRidge
      @9MilRidge  4 роки тому +7

      I think they both serve a good purpose. Revolvers are classic, reliable, simple to use and have really evolved over the years in their weight and size which has made them more enjoyable to carry. Same goes for the semi auto category. Smaller sizes and more dependable choices. I think it kinda boils down to personal preference but I'll always have both.

My Colt Commander, I get three shots, and I can't hold it anymore, Glock 21, I can get about half a clip, 38 snubnose, three shots. My lcp 22 I can go four or five clips, I plan on getting a lcr 22 because it's pretty much all I got left. My son will have to inherit my other larger calibers. While the .22 LR is certainly better than nothing at all, the .22 Magnum is a superior choice. Not just for the increased power, but reliability as well. Both are rimfire rounds, so not as reliable as centerfire like .38 Special. But of the two, the .22 Magnum has been shown to be more reliable than .22 LR. Now Ruger managed to fit 8 rounds of .22 LR in their LCR, but only 6 rounds of .22 Magnum in the same gun. Kind of strange. Better to get a S&W 351 which has 7 rounds of .22 Mangum or the Taurus revolver that has 8 rounds of .22 Magnum. The Ruger LCR is a great revolver for other calibers, but it comes up short on the .22 for some reason.

      There's really not a difference outta that tiny barrel and that's been proven, in fact the magnum is louder, bigger flash, more expensive and harder to find Soo 22lr which are $7.95 for 50rds is most definitely the superior choice between the two, if you're using a longer barrel sure, u could make that argument but we're talking about a barrel that doesn't allow the magnum round to burn enough powder to make a difference

    • @LA_Commander
      @LA_Commander 3 роки тому +1

      @@titaniumtiger3314 Trying to argue that a .22 magnum isn't any better than a .22 lr is the same as guys who try to argue that a .357 magnum isn't any better than a .38 special out of a 2" barrel. The data does not support your argument. The magnum IS more powerful out of the same length barrel, no matter how you shake it. Again, I would not trust my life to either round of .22, it should be "at least" a .38 special or .380 ACP, but if you "must" choose .22, then at least go .22 magnum. And no, bragging about how cheap the ammo is just doesn't make any sense when you are talking about your daily carry gun, the one you will trust your life with. But hey, it's your choice to make. If you think your life is worth $7.95, that's on you. Good luck.
