Donna Summer's funeral attended by close friends and family

- She was a musical sensation who came to define the disco era, and yesterday afternoon close friends and family said goodbye to Donna Summer at a funeral held in Nashville, Tennessee. Hundreds of people close to the singer, along with well renowned members of the music business such as record producer David Foster, turned up at the Christ Presbyterian Church to say their farewells to the disco legend.
She really didn't need disco, disco needed her!

I went to Donna's Funeral because my Dad played piano for her. And my mom and Donna were really good friend's. Donna held me when i was 2. And i pulled her hair, Because it was curly. Her family is so funny. LOVE YOU DONNA!!!!! RIP:(

They are a very funny, loving family. I used to have long hair and Donna was seated in a bar stool and I was standing next to her and she started to play with my hair so I asked her if I could see her ring. She held up her hand and I held her hand and said, "Take it off so I can see it" and we both cracked up. She told me if I ever cut off my hair to please send it to her. REALLY? She said, "Yes, you have my FedEx number!" Donna, and also Bruce, have the ability to make whoever they are speaking with feel like they are the only person that matters at that moment. Donna, my Mom, and sisters really saved me through a tough period and the next time I saw Donna, she walked across a crowded dressing room and took my arm and pulled me into a corner and looked right into my eyes and said, "How are you"? I started to speak but she interrupted and said, "Don't cry". I said that I wanted to thank her for caring and for loving me enough to share something private with me. She then said, 'Okay, so I did something for you. Now I need something from you." Anything! What do you want? And she said, "a Hug". And I hugged her and she held me like a Mom would and she whispered in my ear, 'Scotty. I love you so much. Now, Carry On."

This lady was truly amazing, loved her voice....
She never got the recognition that she deserved, her voice was so powerful and she shone so brightly but some never realised what a fantastic singer she really was.

Donna was a private person and when she wasn't performing she spent time with her family. Plus she was NOT homophobic! Somebody made that nasty rumor to hurt her professionally. She sued the magazine and got a large settlement. She performed a benefit concert for Gay Men Health Crisis in 1998.

that sweet lady was a gift from God. two memories...my mom used to dance with my brother and i when were little...and we are all white...were living in WV...lol...to "dim all the lights". to this day...it is the song we ALL dance to at weddings and family gatherings. i live in nashville now. i went to church one day and heard an angel singing behind me in the crowd...it was donna. again...God gifted her...and she used it! THANK YOU donna. missed so much.

Your music is as fresh to me today as it was when i danced to your music in clubs way back in Washington DC. The night was never complete until Donna Summer was pumped from every available speaker in the place. It brought the house down as all the queens and kings hit the floor with glow sticks and lights dancing like fluid drenching everyone in its path. We danced and danced until the final song played to end the night. Last Dance. Yes, Donna it is your last dance her on earth. I don't kow what is worng with people. She didn't hate gays and those statementes allegedly she made were proved to be misqoutes from the New York Times. She died with dignity, she didn't want to brag about her aillments to the public. I admire even more for that. She was a lady with class, a thing a most of the new performers have now.
