How To Set Up A Plate Carrier For Beginners - Vehicle & Home Defense Protection 2020

- In response to all the questions I get on social media with people asking what plate carrier I use and how I have it set up, I'm doing this video. If you are a new plate carrier owner, you may find some value in watching. If you are a seasoned tactical ninja and a master keyboard warrior, this video is most likely not for you.
As stated in the video, I'm just a dude who spent 13 years on the front lines as a full-time police officer. During that time I learned very little. Most of my training came after I left the police force. I did, however, become a certified firearms instructor while a police officer.
For those of you interested in learning more about my plate carrier that is seen in this video, here's a link - bit.ly/2YGsggO

All that bungee cord 😰
Ikr😬😬
Seriously holy crap
Needed and necessary equipment, good stuff here, ordering now!
How do you like the plate carrier? Thank you
I just got a plate carrier for mags at the range. This other stuff is because I can 😅
I love this guy! Not only is this video extremely helpful and informative.... but he's funny as all hell. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed!
To all those who sleep with no pants, but a belt with a holster - I salute you.
Thanks for showing your set up. I'm always looking for the most efficient way to set mine up, lol.
I just want to say that this video is awesome. For someone who doesn't have any experience with plate carriers this video was extremely helpful. I know everyone is different and will need different setups for them but this looks really nice. I will definitely be working towards purchasing one of these sweet rigs. Thanks sir
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the down load, I like the cobra clips.
First time viewer, new sub!! Thanks for the video very informative, gave me a lot to think about starting to set mine up now ever used one before.. Look forward to more videos!
Thanks for the sub!
I'm still getting my stuff set up. High prices and everything being sold out holds me back. At least I have JPC 2.0 carrier and plates. Now I can get the rest over time.
In the meantime go hiking with the plates in a pack
@@rainypath96 Went camping for 3 days by Lake Erie, yea, stuff is heavy. That was without armor kit and fun+ammo. I need to cut my kit to just sleeping bag, water filter, food.
@@almostontimehero5415 Nice, be safe out there. I went into a badly dehydrated state after only 11 miles & 2kft of elevation lugging a measly 40lb rucksack. Had to take a trip to the ER for IV fluids
@@rainypath96 I walked for four hours the fist day, then 2 the next, then two on the last. You take this gear stuff too seriously...
Great video I have a one Tigris plate carrier with a g19 gen 3 sitting under my bed ready to put on aswell as inside my truck ready to go aswell but overall gotta be ready for anything even with a low chance great video !
Personally I like leg rigs for my mags. That might just be me though. I'd have run with it in Afghanistan if the brass hadn't micromanaged our gear. There are some that loop to your belt without adjusting your belt. Most don't but I have seen a couple.
While we were allowed to organize our gear to our liking, we were told to experiment with it. Move things around and find out if it works for you. Train with your setup even if it's just dry firing. One guy's setup might work great for him but poorly for someone else. Only rule is practicality. Do not keep your tourniquet out of reach. Do not put high use items in odd places.
Thumbs up, bro! great Vid. Keep up the good work.
The cobra buckle attachment I'm most interested in. Flipping up my front panel just to on/off my carrier is a pain to do.
I used 3 of the 5.11 rush tier straps (used for backpacks and such). The buckles attach to any molle and worked perfectly (alot cheaper too). Folded over the velcro on one side of the cummerbund.
Great stuff thanks!
Good information. Thanks
Maybe move some gear down to a battle belt to avoid the front of your carrier sticking out so much. Can't get prone if you are laying on a triple stack of mags. Good stuff though!

Yes..nj where the badguys will only have 10. Stay safe sir
Enjoyed your video’s .. couple of questions .. are the Cobra buckles & loops metal or plastic ? If metal are everyone ? If plastic are they a special type of plastic or resin ? Or is there a mix of metal & plastic & which are of each ? Lastly do you plan on making a back placard for civilian good guy or something to that effect . With these riots & civil unrest I’m not police or military but would like them to know I have there back if necessary without being deemed a bad guy .
Plastic (polymer). All of them. No placard on the back for now. It has full molle to attach most anything. And our IFAK is a quick-deploy.
You dont sell thoe mag pouches tho. Do you? Ive searched the entire site
Amazon
Those mage pouches he has are trash
@@samtorres4996 are they? What makes them so bad?
@@FeleseDoesItAll their cheap there's better options out there if you want well made stuff
@@samtorres4996 any recommendations?
Can you make mag pouches with less bungee cords
Yes. We do.
Sorry cobra buckles suck in this use on the side , been there done that . Tubes are the way. ...just my mileage.
The tubes are awesome. Agreed.
More videos like this please! And can you talk about everyday self defense setups for civilians? I’m 18, going to college and I can’t wear America merch in public without getting yelled at and threatened. Thanks!
Oh hell no! You wear that stuff proudly! Don't let the soy boys get you down! There are also plenty of lovely AR t-shirts on the market, I'd wear a few per week just to annoy the snowflakes
Tell em to suck it!
Great for air soft!! But if this is your shtf carrier. You are missing a bit of stuff. And I will say those pouches get snagged on almost everything when you are crawling on you belly. There are a lot of considerations to take in before choosing what works for you.
We have former Navy SEALs and SWAT Officers across the country using this plate carrier. Apparently good enough for them. They are happy and that makes us happy.
221B Tactical just bc seals and swat are using this carrier doesn’t mean they have it set up this way... this is set up for looks not functionality.
@@cliffordaguilar1441 Never said those guys have their plate carriers set up like this. Each person has their own personal preference for set-up. We just said they use this carrier, that's all.
Theres always gonna be a downside to every positive. This plate carrier is Cleary setup for an urban environment. So judging an urban plate carrier for its ability in a non urban situation. He speaks multiple multiple times in this video about this. Your plate carriers will change based on yourself and your situation
Ideally the only plate carrier that isnt gonna snag on anything is no plate carrier. Even bare molle webbing will pick up sticks n shit
Get 10x12 or 11x14?
10x12 you'll be more than ok!
I'd be afraid of getting punched in the chin over and over on the run for the 14" Looks like you guys may have fixed this with the cumberbund. Keep doing what you are doing Suresh. Still waiting for my new one from you guys for the truck. I'm not gonna lie, still doubtful the heat will be helped by the black color or max dri. But your character gives you credibilty, so I took the chance. And yes, i reside in a free state, thank God. 30's all day. 😉 No belt, no bag in truck. Knife in pocket or pants belt. Ar pistol, because it can be loaded in truck. Tourniquet only first aid. Bare necessity as a civ. Fighting to get back where the goodies are kept. Six and hands, brother. Be and stay safe and healthy.
P.S. longer sleeves please. You make me feel like a bitch with those pipes. Lol
@@221btactical Thanks
@@jjustworking Thanks, and lol at sleeves comment. :)
Did you have your shirt painted on 🤔
Don’t ever go prone! Imagine what shooting qual in this set up would feel like
Not real sure about your med kit in the back. Me personally I would want it so I could get to it.
Everyone is different. I can easily reach back there. Some guys can’t. Totally up to the individual.

If the mesh pads don't absorb moisture, how does it stop moisture from getting to the carrier?
If a material that does not absorb sweat is placed between your body and your carrier, how would the sweat make it to the carrier? The mesh allows fresh air to flow in, allowing moisture to escape into the atmosphere.
@@221btactical Because it's mesh... like it has holes in it.
@@jeffkessel2440 Correct, but it's 8mm thick. Sweat doesn't pass through fabrics at accelerated speeds.
221B Tactical ok... show me a video of you pouring water through this mesh and it holding it without water going through it.

Good video; but, not really how to setup plate carrier for beginners.

You didn’t watch the whole video. It’s ok, most people don’t. If you decide to, you’ll CLEARLY see how he says to set up your plate carrier for YOUR specific situation and needs and not everyone needs everything on their plate carrier. Only use what you need. Says it like 10 times in the video.
That punisher logo is so cringe
Badass you mean.
@@melvinplaysgaming4030 Comic books are the opposite of "bad ass"

@@FrontlineArsenal yikes. You're even more cringe.
corey winters nah you’re
No sweat soaks into your plates carrier? Lol- My man.. That ventilation system is nice, but there is No way to keep your carrier dry in the summer if you wear it daily for duty or training.. And double stack rifle mag carriers with a pistol pouch on top of it? "If you cant get prone you're taking one to the dome"!
We suggest you read the reviews from all the people that say that their carrier is 'COMPLETELY DRY" following a long day of training in the heat. They are right on our website for all to read. Tons of reviews on social media as well. If you've never tried or worn the vest, we suggest you do before making ungrounded assumptions. Now, as for the stacked mag pouches, you are 100% correct and that is mentioned in multiple videos.
@@221btactical- First of all, i wasn't being negative about your product whatsoever. I've worn carries for many years and don't see how a mesh liner can keep it dry. Especially, when you are soaking wet from 100°+ heat for 12+ hrs a day and sitting in a rig with your back against the seat. That's all. I haven't ran your gear, but im very untitled to an opinion.
@@mustardman5366 Totally get where you're coming from. Our Founder and CEO is a biochemist who was also a police officer for 13 years. He developed this mesh specifically for this purpose. He too dealt with that "sponge mesh" that was supposed to provide breathability but all it did was soak up the sweat and make you feel gross. This 3D material does not hold moisture and does not compress so it completely keep your vest away from your base layer shirt...even if you're leaning against a wall in 100 degree heat. Will you still sweat? Yes! Will that sweat be able to soak directly into your carrier? No. But once again, don't take our word for it; we could easily be full of BS. Go read the reviews on our site for The Maxx-Dri Vest and read what actual cops and soldiers are saying. There are thousands of testimonials for you read.
lmao if its home defense im gonna be using that weapon not holstering it
snag much?
That's WAY too many mag pouches on that carrier. This is just bad advice. Go watch garand thumb on plate carrier setup.
NOBODY said you NEED to have that many mag pouches. If you actually watch the entire video, he clearly states "add as many mag pouches you need for your specific situation." If you live in a state that only allows 10 round mags, you might HAVE TO carry more mags. There is no "RIGHT WAY" when it comes to something like this. It's all about what YOU need for YOUR specific situation/mission. If you only need two; carry two. If you only need the one in your weapon and you don't "think" you'll need more, then go for it. If you think you're gonna need 60 rounds and you only have 10 round mags due to your state laws, well guess what...you're gonna need to carry 6 mags. Hope this helps.
If you watch from the 5:00 mark, he CLEARLY says the number of mags you need to carry is totally dependent on your specific situation (i.e. where you live, your mission, you necessity, etc.)
if that is even ur plate carrier it sucks
The fact that you even ask that question is troubling. The fact that you can say something "sucks" without ever having even tried it is a testament to your level of maturity. Jesus loves you; that's all that matters. Take care.
221B Tactical your pistol and rifle magazines are obstructed by a huge holster that you don’t need right there or could do better. It makes u slower which is precious time
221B Tactical I’m not trying to be mean. Just painting stuff out and I don’t know how to contact you privately or I would’ve done that
@@wyattCrane487 If you watch the video at the 8:04 mark I clearly state that the pistol holster is something I typically don't utilize. It was only on this vest for a demo/training event which was hosted by a SEAL Team 10 member. That said, although I don't normally have one on my vest, I know many high level operators that do. The main reason they say they do is for when they are on operations in which they are primarily in vehicles. According to them, drawing a pistol from the chest is MUCH easier than drawing it from your hip or drop-leg holster when in a vehicle. During counter vehicle assault training I have tried the chest mounted holster and I can attest that it is MUCH easier and MUCH faster than drawing from a hip or drop holster. These are dudes that are special forces and have 100 times the training and experience that I do, so I respect their opinions and suggestions; that's why I gave it try. But no, a chest holster is not my part of my normal set-up as stated in the video. However, if I was doing something that was going to primarily have me inside a vehicle (e.g. executive protection transport), I would 100% consider having a pistol in a chest holster on my plate carrier. If not my primary pistol, definitely a back-up pistol. Hope that clears things up for you.
Terrible kit setup. Ridiculous amount of chord. Pistol on chest creates an obstruction while retrieving the inner most mags. Just sloppy
You didn't watch the video. Everything you wrote in your comment was addressed in the video....even the reason the pistol holster was even on the carrier I used in this video. Unreal.
@@221btactical I def couldn’t finish the video. So you mean to tell me you knew it wasn’t’t efficient and you thought of posting this video w/ it like that intentionally 🤯
