Your channel epitomizes why UA-cam has become what I watch the most. The quality of your videos is simply outstanding and is better than most things I have seen on the Travel Channel and that’s in no small part due to your made for voiceover voice. Thank you so much for your brilliant content and I am doing my best to recommend you to everyone I know.
Yes I have cruised on Queen Victoria and Elizabeth on Queen Victoria you could have a cream tea in the buffet you had all the same as the queen's room but it was self-service and no posh mugs plates and cutlery and I ate mine outside in the sun and I loved the verandah
I used to work on the QM2 2007-2010 and afterwards the QE 2010-2016. I was incharge of the Afternoon and Gala teatime. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Cunard. Miss everyone
Disappointed that you did not include the Grills. I know they are not open to everyone but we have sailed in both Queen and Princess and would do it again. Worth the extra expense, in my opinion.
I was on the original Queen Mary back in 1959 I was only 11 and had a fantastic time even though we hit the tail end of a hurricane two days out, out of 200 passengers there were only 70 odd of us that were not sea sick which made it even more fun as we got to mingle with the 1st class passengers.
We sailed from Vancouver to NYC on the Queen Elizabeth on a 24 night journey via Panama back in July-Aug this year, we absolutely loved it! While in New Jersey we saw the Queen Mary come and go on her trans Atlantic run and we decided we have to sail on her as well. Thanks for this video Im tempted to book, Cunard wants us back, Im getting fabulous brochures and email offers now. I have a much better understanding of their system as well and can see the price drops at certain times and the bonus offers. We will do it when the timing is right, thanks to Micky Arison and his watching and seeing the buzz from the Titanic movie, he decided to build the worlds greatest true Ocean Liner we can enjoy such a voyage.

What a wonderful video. I have worked on the QM2 whilst she was in Hamburg in drydock a few years ago. Cleaned the stage curtains in the main theatre and also the ones where you showed afternoon tea was taking place. Have to say the food for us was not quite as delicious looking as served on a cruise so we used to eat out in Hamburg most evenings. Your video bought back good memories when I was working on her. Thankyou for a great video.
Thanks for watching and sharing your memories with us. We love it when there's a connection between the viewer and our little films. So glad it brought back good memories. :)
Can’t believe I’ve only just found you and have to agree with others in that you have THE most mellifluous voice. I’m loving your vlogs - booked QM2 and Queen Elizabeth for next year as well as Seven Seas Splendor - as the kids say YOLO! Not tried Azamara yet but will definitely do so after seeing your fantastic trips!
A really superbly done video. The music is just perfect and your voice and narration also simply spot on. The way you selected and edited all the shots together was equally superb. It really made me desperately want to take a cruise aboard her.
Very nice, detailed video. Thank you for panning slowly on the menus so we could read the detail. Hope you do another video that shows the entertainment and what a sea day would look like. Thought about booking a cruise but not sure if we'd be bored.
Donna Manitu Thanks Donna. We love slow panning the menus because all too often, people who do these types of video end to whizz over things far too quickly. Lingering so you get a good look is always what we try and do. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a sea day on this trip otherwise we’d have covered it. Also, the entertainment wasn’t fully covered because the trip was short too. We do have our final video in this series covering the ‘experience’ of sailing on the QM2 and that’ll be out soon, so don’t forget to subscribe and you’ll see it!
Loved the dramatic music at the start and the humorous dialogue throughout. The Carinthia lounge looked a place we would enjoy too. Spotted Gavin and Luke too having afternoon tea! Loved this video!
I had so much fun eating on my crossing. Everything was good. I started off trying to eat healthy, but quickly gave that up. And it was a wise decision! It was delicious. I loved this video. Makes me want to go back! I will say, if you have an early dinner time, eat lightly at afternoon tea, it tends to be quite heavy and can be a meal in and of itself. I did not do this and I found myself I’ll later in the evening because I had overstuffed myself with all of the delicious food. Worth eating!
Charming video. Cleverly narrated. What might have been very helpful is the in-suite dining menu. And a review of the quality of the meals served in your room.
Charles Hamilton Thanks for your comment Charles and yes, we would agree with you. This was only a three night cruise though and so getting every single dining option covered would’ve been impossible without ordering food and wasting it, which we definitely wouldn’t do. I’m sorry we didn’t cover the in-suite dining though because it’s a very popular choice.
Hey guys, after watching the excellent jeb Brooks video on QM2 this got recommended, 4 years on excellent stuff, very useful video for next week when we head onboard, perfect timing. Thanks for sharing ( well thanks for sharing 4 years ago…)
A great and very informative video Sir. I like the way you present the information with the added light humour. Top Class. We have just funny enough completed our first Cunard Cruise travelling on the Queen Victoria in a Club Balcony Cabin last week. I have to say the experience was first class, the food was simply stunning and the afternoon tea was an experience all on its own, Just amazing. The Steak House was also well worth the extra cover charge. We will most certainly do another Cunard Cruise soon.
Thanks for your kind words, Paul. Much appreciated. Thank you also for watching. We hope you consider subscribing to our little channel if you haven’t done so already. 👍🙂
Thanks for a great video. We are booked for our 3rd. Transatlantic in May 2022 in Britannia Club. Crossing to or from Europe is always better when you start or end on the QM2. Cheers
Yeah, never cruise with Carnival, my parents usually cruise with Princess, Disney or Norwegian, unfortunately my lil sis who lives in Miami persuaded our parents for a Caribbean Carnival Cruise... They weren't impressed nor did they enjoy the ship, lesson learned😣
Took the New England Canada trip twice Tea Time is amazing go twenty minutes before so you can sit where you want to. Great tea and fine snacks. Small sandwiches and deserts. They also have a small cafe which you can have a one person portion Chocolate Fondue, this you pay for.
We are due to sail to New York in May 2019. We first went on QM2 in 2008. The Captain then was Christopher Rynd, in 2011 he became Commodore of the Cunard fleet, we saw him on the Victoria in 2016 and in November 2018 he retired. All the Cunard Captains are brilliant, but the tall one with the white beard will be missed. He just looked like a sea Captain should!
I can tell you actually went on a cruise. Everyone who takes a cruise complains about gaining weight! 😂 This makes me wonder, do some people take a very short diet before going on the cruise?
Great presentation. Great humours narrative. Should I visit the speciality dining restaurant, I might just go ahead and ask for advice on the right knife, too.

Thanks Canary! Yes, I totally agree that while some of these ships serve up near Michelin quality cuisine, it doesn't come close to that which our other halves can rustle up given five minutes, half an onion, an egg and a bag of mixed leaves. (have I done enough there)? ;) OTBC!
The narrator mentioned the Carinthia lounge and I wonder if it was named after the Cunard ship which sailed the transatlantic route as the Queen Mary retired. I was lucky (and old) enough to have sailed to the USA on the original Queen Elizabeth and sailed back to the UK on the Carinthia.
@@TheCarnivalguy Haha! My reply could've been SO MUCH MORE risqué, but I pulled back - this is a family friendly channel you know! 😂Thanks for watching. We hope you subscribe and leave slightly less hilarious comments in the future!
This is good stuff. Thanks! I'm considering a long 99 day cruise this coming winter on QM2. Was troubled by fixed dining requirement. Very unlikely that stablemates can remain interesting for such a long cruise. I'll have to investigate how much more expensive it is to have flexible seatings.
You don't HAVE to do fixed dining every night Peter. Perhaps book the speciality restaurant one night, and eat at the 'pop up' speciality dining venues they have every so often. Britannia Club is extra, but you do get anytime dining with that in the MDR. :)
Cunard now offers flexible seating in the main Brittania dining room. However, do note that even if you choose fixed seating, the QM2 offers a variety of table sizes, mostly two-tops, meaning you don't necessarily have to have anyone at your table other than your immediate party.
This is such a nice video. I have horrible ideas of what cruises are like from those loud commercials and always said I would never go on one. This is lovely though.
Thank you for your kind words Cynthia. We try and make our videos a little more relaxing to watch. there's lots of loud stuff on UA-cam and we're trying to redress the balance a bit :)
I found this video way late, but I'm planning a round-trip Atlantic crossing on this ship around July 2021. The food looks absolutely amazing, and I'll probably gain around fifteen pounds.
I'd eat in all the restaurants 3 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That's 9 meals a day. Then throw in afternoon tea hey and room service! Oh and the pub food too just to round it off.
Don't know where to begin With the food on the QE2 GET. IN. TRADING BEFORE. YOU GO ON THE CRUISE. IN SOME FOR A 5-STAR HOTEL OR. 4STSR HOTEL. AS. I. AM MANCHESTER. LAD THE. MIDLAND HOTEL HE'S A GOOD PLACE TO GET TRAINING. EVEN IF. IS JUST. ONCE. A. WEEK THAT WILL DO FOR. GEOFF STOCKPORT CHESHIRE. FRIDAY 21. AUGUST. 2020
As a solo traveller, I love the Britannia lunches and dinners where I sit at a large table and have the same people to speak to every night, but different people every lunchtime. But at breakfast I am completely unsociable (possibly because of the night before) and just want to quietly have my fruit juice, cereal, toast and coffee. So Cunard scrapping the trays in the Lido/Kings Court is a real pain. First, I get the glass of orange juice and the cereal and cutlery, which is all I can carry in one trip, and make my unsteady way for what seems like half a mile, avoiding people with strange senses of direction, trying to find an empty seat without spilling anything. Then when I go back for the toast and coffee, the seat is immediately taken by someone else! I wish I'd known of the Cafe Carinthia option when I was on QM2 two years ago. I was disappointed to see the Verandah has become a steak house. Is that the case on QE as well? I'm travelling on her in three weeks and was going to treat myself to a fancy French meal.
Thanks for watching and your well considered comment. :) I agree, scrapping the trays is very inconvenient and I'm not sure why they did it - health/infection spread reasons? Economics? And I'm sorry to say, I believe all the Verandahs are being converted to steak houses. We're with you on this, we much preferred the fine dining of the old style Verandah/Todd English.
We are traveling to the Caribbean in November and it is 12 days. This will be my first cruise ever!! Thank you for your videos! Really helps. Just a quick question...does the room service cost or is it inluded? I also would like to dine at the steak house and that is an upcharge right?
11.40 'we both struggled to finish our 8oz fillet steak'?... Sacrilege! That should be made a criminal offence, to waste good fillet steak. Off with your head, sir!
Thank for making your videos and for the info. We will be sailing on the QM2 opting for the second sitting at the Brittania restaurant. Might need to fill up on the afternoon tea though as it's a late seating.
Thanks again! Yes, if you're on second sitting you might need afternoon tea or a visit to the Kings Court at around 5pm. That's what we did! Please consider subscribing as I've got more QM2 videos to come soon. Have a great voyage! :D
We eventually sailed on QM2 to Norway in May 2022. Our original cruise as mentioned above, which was a round trip to Hamburg in 2020, was cancelled due to covid and lockdowns. We had booked twice to go on the round trips around South West England after that which got cancelled again due to covid. Then tried our luck with the Nowegian fjords cruise, which was successful. The food, service and everything on board was fantastic when we eventually sailed with her, except the key cards didn't work at first. Afternoon tea in the Kings Court after we got back from excursions was brilliant and well needed, and I thought was better than the Queens room one, even though it was good too. I thoroughly recommend the QM2. Thank you so much for this video. It really helped.
Informative and relaxing video. Thanks. As you begin with breakfast room service, it's a pity you did not give us a glimpse of this restricted menu. Otherwise, good coverage within your chosen focus.
kjh789az Thank you for your comment. You’re right, we didn’t cover the room service menus in enough detail. The problem was we only had three mornings on this short voyage so covering everything was incredibly difficult. We didn’t want to order food just to film it because that would’ve been a dreadful waste. 🙂
Unfortunately we didn't have access to those dining areas on this occasion. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Please consider subscribing (if you haven't done so already) as we have a LOT more brilliant travel content coming up!
Hehe. Indeed! Oh, and THANK YOU SO MUCH Bob for all your wonderful comments on our videos. We so appreciate them and are very happy you seem to be enjoying going through our back catalogue. Thanks for your tremendous support! :D
@@visitwithus I am seeking your opinion. Not a trick question. there is always compromise. What is your opinion with all your experience? One way to look at it, if you have the opportunity to do it all over again, which would you choose and why.
I remember years ago going to the, I think, Golden Lion Pub and asking for a glass of wine. They asked what glass size? "Normal, Standard or regular". What? They sound like synonyms! So the next trip I took "girlfriend of the year" back there waiting to enjoy the laugh. They had changed the names. Rats!!!
The Chef's Galley wasn't an option when we sailed on her, which is why it isn't included but I'm confused - surely if it was a standard every day option, we'd have noticed? Perhaps you could expand on where it is etc. Thank you for watching and getting us scratching our heads lol! :)
@@visitwithus You have to know it's there. It is not even on the deck plans. Unless it was removed in the last six months, it is still there. It's a small room, just behind the D staircase on 7. They have healthy stuff for breakfast, burgers for lunch, and pizza, salad and pasta in the evening.
I have crossed on this ship 3 times, it is mainly geared towards British Seniors, it is very basic and has very few activities when it comes to recreation.
One reason I enjoy sailing on the Oceania Cruiseline is the speciality restaurants: steakhouse, Asian, and Italian. I wish the Cunard had more. I know they have speciality nights where they offer Indian or Thai, it's just not the same. If I paid for the Queen's Grill I would be disappointed for sure
@@GlobalAdventurer probably the Kings Court was meant, and some particularly virulent autocorrupt attack changed it. Note that KC does not have trays, just plates.

I normally eat around 8:30, so that dining choice is perfect for me.
Looks absolutely fabulous!
It is! Thanks for watching Eric. 😀
So well produced, bravo.
Thank you. ☺️
This guy knows his stuff!!!
Cheers! :D
Beautiful 4k video and informative.
Many many thanks sir. Much appreciated. :)
I found this video way late, but I'm planning a round-trip Atlantic crossing on this ship around July 2021. The food looks absolutely amazing, and I'll probably gain around fifteen pounds.
Haha! Thanks for watching Tony. Yes, take incredibly stretchy clothes lol! :D
I'm sailing in June and I'm sure that I will be a few pounds heavier by the end of my cruise.
I do plan to use the gym and track though.
Love a few laps round the promenade deck on the QM2 👍
Have a great cruise 🚢
i just wanted to ask if you know if a children’s menu is available?
Lovely video! I’m currently in the process of convincing my parents and my sister to try out a trip on this beautiful ship so hopefully this will help
Thank you! I hope you manage to convince them. It is one of the most stunning ships in the world. :)

Did you have a good trip? :)
I love the dramatic vibe! Might make my videos more dramatic haha 😁

Great video, loved this.
Thank you Janine. We appreciate you watching. :)
I am looking forward to our first voyage on QM2 in July. I think I will be huge when we return
Haha! You may find that to be true. Hope you have a lovely time and thank you for watching. :)

Great video guys! Truly amazing. New subscriber here.
Thanks so much for subbing J&S! We're very grateful you've joined us. :D
I'd eat in all the restaurants 3 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That's 9 meals a day. Then throw in afternoon tea hey and room service! Oh and the pub food too just to round it off.
Haha! That would be a great challenge to film! I wouldn't want to be your room steward though lol.
Haha, hehe!
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching 👍
I love that afternoon tea. Long queue but worth it
Yes, definitely worth it. :)

We're with you on this, we much preferred the fine dining of the old style Verandah/Todd English.
oh dear.
I'm just wondering does QM2 still cruise from London to New York?
Yes, from Southampton, which is about 60 miles south of London. :)
@@visitwithus thank you.
We are traveling to the Caribbean in November and it is 12 days. This will be my first cruise ever!! Thank you for your videos! Really helps. Just a quick question...does the room service cost or is it inluded? I also would like to dine at the steak house and that is an upcharge right?
room service is free!! they do charge in the steak house.
Oh wow the glory of the queen mary 2 aww makes me cry
She's a beauty, ain't she? Thank you for watching. I hope you've subscribed. :)
11.40 'we both struggled to finish our 8oz fillet steak'?...
Sacrilege! That should be made a criminal offence, to waste good fillet steak.
Off with your head, sir!
Ha!!!!
He did not say "we failed to finish the steak", merely "struggled to finish" -- something very different!
@@smvanwers6300 impressive reading comprehension skills, sir 😉
Just wanted to add that when we sailed the late dining was more flexible.
see you again here in singapore next year my Queen.
What about the Grills, Princess and Queens? I always preferred them.
Unfortunately we didn't have access to those dining areas on this occasion. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Please consider subscribing (if you haven't done so already) as we have a LOT more brilliant travel content coming up!
The "100 Club" -- Yum and Yum.

@@gratefultube It certainly does sir. We REALLY appreciate it. Thank you. 😊
Thank you. Delightful!
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching! :)
with all your experience, which cruise will you recommend for best food and service and best value?
Oh gosh! that's the hardest question of them all! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. ☺
@@visitwithus I am seeking your opinion. Not a trick question. there is always compromise. What is your opinion with all your experience? One way to look at it, if you have the opportunity to do it all over again, which would you choose and why.
OMG! When did they add the Godiva lounge? Ugh! 🤤🤤🤤🤤I would probably ask for a glass of milk, and a glass of water to wash all that down.
Chocolate overload 🍫 🍫🍫
Thanks for watching 👍
Great video! But QM2 is not the only ship that serves afternoon tea. Princess does.
Thanks for watching 👍
lol love the commentary. oh and yes ive subscribed ..Not because you said too but because i have a brain and wanted too.
Haha! Thank you Sarah! :D
Rats!!!
😆😆😆
Thanks for watching 👍
Like Queen Mary I, the joke remains the same: God save King George! Thank you for a lovely presentation.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Anna. :)
You did not even mention Chef's Galley! We often eat lunch or dinner in there. They have hamburgers and fries at lunch and pasta and pizza at night.
They have healthy stuff for breakfast, burgers for lunch, and pizza, salad and pasta in the
evening.
@@Linda-bj3cf Hmm, we definitely didn't see this. We'll certainly look out for it in future cruises, thanks! :D
Darlingg, the grills!
The grills!!
They wouldn't let me in lol! Next time, I'll do a full Grills dining guide just for you! :D
I have crossed on this ship 3 times, it is mainly geared towards British Seniors, it is very basic and has very few activities when it comes to recreation.
It's a ocean liner not a cruise ship
One reason I enjoy sailing on the Oceania Cruiseline is the speciality restaurants: steakhouse, Asian, and Italian. I wish the Cunard had more. I know they have speciality nights where they offer Indian or Thai, it's just not the same. If I paid for the Queen's Grill I would be disappointed for sure
Thanks for watching and commenting. Oceania are certainly renown for their cuisine and hopefully one day we'll try them! :D
Is the boardwalk cafe the only location on this ship where you can eat outside?
There are some tables at the aft pool to take food from the horizon court if you wanted to 👍
@@visitwithus Thank you for answering my question!
@@visitwithus Where is the horizon court on Queen Mary 2?
@@GlobalAdventurer probably the Kings Court was meant, and some particularly virulent autocorrupt attack changed it. Note that KC does not have trays, just plates.
