YAY it's finally here and Oh man 22 minutes, I was just about to shut it down(church n da mornin!) but you and your FABULOUS locks should keep me awake! YES the color is really nice and poppin on the twist out! HAH your so funny... I can't do any drastic things to my hair until I've actually reached my goal of WL and have swung it around for about a decade! I'm so picky with my hair I haven't even worn a twist out or braid out yet because my slug growing bangs just have too much shrinkage and NO hang time whatsoever! I can see that you're very thorough with everything that you do and that's a fantastic quality...girl I would have pdf'ed it up too, so my hair doesn't get pdf'ed up! Your balayage hair kinda reminds me of the sun kissed aborigines hair, very pretty. Oh my goodness, I'm crackin up, I need a zoom button I couldn't really read that comment but your face said "wackadooooodle!" That's the 3rd wackadoo for you today and all 3 on FB, the 1st man was talking about transferring money to you, the 2nd man was telling you a story about balloon fart trapping both guys were on your Essence post(congrats again!) and now this man, "Oh man", with great popularity come greater weirdos! Great informative video Whitney and thank you for being 100% honest with the coloring cons! I have no plans on dying my hair(I'M TOO PLAIN) but I wouldn't mind rocking a "Whitney Balayage Diva Cut Wig!" I have a sister with color treated hair who's thinking of dyeing it again and I know different people who like to do different things with their hair so I like to be able to share what I've learned with them. Have a great Sunday Whitney and anyone else reading this! Goodnight!

I love that you reiterated that there's damage but it's not the end of the world...even though you've created such a big brand around your hair I think it's so important to show viewers that your hair isn't EVERYTHING. I've colored my hair, big chopped 2 times, and worn my hair in many styles and people always say, "Oh, no!" when I do as if I was cutting off my arm. However my hair is still really healthy and that's what's important. You gave great tips in this video.

I can't tell you how many people I stopped watching cause they keep doing the same old twist out videos. Kudos to you for always going outside of the box!

Whitney, you are the reason I went natural. I first saw one of your videos in February 2012 which interested me. It made me wonder if I could get my hair as pretty as yours. I've had a perm so long that I didn't think I had curls. I made the decision one month later in March to do the big chop. My big chop took everything, I mean everything off. My hair was down to my waistline and I shaved my head ball. I was so out done that I wore wigs for 4 months until my hair grew out enough to do something with. I was really surprised to see the beautiful curls on my head. It has been 2 years and 6 months and I'm loving it. No heat, no sitting under the hairdryer for hours, no all day at the salon. This was the best things I have done. Thank you a million times over for coming into my life and changing the way I think about my hair and life. I watch you vlog and videos on a daily basis. I love, love, love your hair and hair styles videos as well as your videos with your family. May God bless you and your family.

Finally!!! I got my hair cut by Krish, she is awesome, very nice, professional and on time. I did not get the color because I have a lot of gray and i have to touch up every eight weeks. I am 3 years natural and have never seen a stylish in my journey due to the fact that it is very hard to find a stylist that will care for your hair the way you do. My hair is past my shoulders and it's taken a long time to get my hair this length so I was nervous to go to some one that might cut all my hair off, I wanted to get advice on where to go next with my care for my hair. Krish is very detailed, she coiled every curl on my head with flaxseed gel and oil before she cut it. I am so happy I waited to find the right stylist thanks to Whitney.
    Thanks Guys :-)

    Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
    Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
I am not sure if you are a believer in Christ, whoever is reading this, but I just want to spread the word about my Lord and savior. Jesus Christ died upon a cross for our sins and he took a punishment that every sinner deserved, because we all have disobeyed God, when He has always been faithful to us. God is so amazing that He sent His only son to die for us. That is truly love.
Jesus is the only way to eternal life and I just want to encourage you to give your life to Him today. Repent, meaning turn away from your sinful ways and give your life to Him. Ask Him for forgiveness. He is a the wonderful God and loves you so much that he says he will even completely forget your past sins (Isaiah 43:25).
I just want to encourage you to give Jesus a chance because He is the ONLY way to eternal life, and heaven is not the only place to go after you die, hell is real. And you never know when your time will come, so give your life to Him today.
    God bless you all :)

Yes, hell is very real. Life is temporary but hell is eternal. Jesus is the way, truth and the life. There's too much distractions in this world & that is what hindering the blessings God's people are suppose to receive. Traditions of this world are pagan; God never said to participate in them. Also we have to EARN our blessings & favors by actions...we cant expect God to give us this and that; he knows our hearts. Showing him how much we love him & to take a stand for the Lord, even means to die for him like he did for us. Im far from being perfect and no other human is. But we ourselves have to be in decency & in order before him; first is to repent & be baptized in Jesus name. Thanks for sharing!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, for this video! This is the holy grail of salon tips for the natural as far as I'm concerned! PDF?! YES! Brilliant ideas. Ironically your dope looking color and encouragement to take risks with your natural hair is helping me to decide to get a relaxer after six years of being natural. I've been fighting the urge to perm my hair for years now but I'm over it and I just don't care. It's my hair and it will be OK! I def see myself going natural again but at this point in my life a short relaxed style suites me. Love your videos, girl!

  • @Naturallygreerblogspot
    @Naturallygreerblogspot 10 років тому +4

Bravo, this was a good synopsis of your experience. Been toying with the idea but I think I will hold off for now, lol. Just a tip with the Argan oil: heat oil and apply to scalp and hair shaft then wet t-shirt in hot, I mean hot water or just place it in the microwave to heat up and wrap it around the hair. I usually do this in segments and then just place a cap on with a hot t-shirt wrapped around my entire head of hair for about 15-20 mins. This will help it penetrate the follicle to intensify added moisture to the hair especially colored treated hair. Hope this helps.

Love love love your hair. It does look so refreshed. I can't wait for the next generation of naturals to come up. I feel like it won't be such a deeply heavy and personal thing for our girls like it has been for us. It will just be hair not such a self realizing journey as with most of us who have gone through this natural transition. We had to battle so much with not only ourselves but society to come to grips with our hair that we hold on to it and become over protective. I'm glad to see you took the plunge. You set a great example.

Love it! I can just imagine the look of horror on the stylists face when she got that PDF file. I bet she felt like she was about to diffuse a bomb. Ha! Here's the thing, Im sure that as a stylist You want your client to be happy but at the same time you want your client to just let you do your job. I would be really interested to know how stylists feel about seeing natural clients who are really particular and have not been to the salon in a long time, or never. Thats the boat I'm in and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Moisture Tip for colored hair- I learned from a indian friend!!!
Vatika-is a good coconut oil to use but totally no nessary as long as its solid!
I get my hair colored about every 6 months or so. A "coconut bath" for your hair. I leave mine in for 24 hours.( i like head wraps if i have to go some where) your hair ends up awesome and moisturize then add oil twice as much as you normally. Your hair will thank you!!!!!
I love this video, there isn't enough videos on natural dyed hair :)

One thing that works really well on my hair since I've colored it is protein! My hair LOVES a good protein treatment every 2-4 weeks. Maybe that can help combat some of the lost elasticity and help you retain moisture better in the long run. Love the cut and color though and I agree. I've been itching for a change and think I'm going to go for bangs! And like you said, why not... Just go for it!

Your hair looks amazing! This video was definitely an encouraging one. Im 11 months natural, my hair is in that odd middle length stage and I've been really thinking about flat ironing it. I want to see my hair straight, but I do suffer from the over protective thing you were talking about in the beginning of the video. I haven't done it because im afraid the heat will damage my curls. Buttt after watching this I think I might just do it. Not sure if I want to go to a stylist because im really over proactive and I don't trust anyone with my hair but me lol. So ill do it myself. I love your videos, I've been a fan for 2 years. Thanks for all the amazing types and styles

I went to a salon to get my hair braided and my hair wasn't detangled and the stylist was yanking and ripping through my hair! Mind you, I was pregnant at the time and was exhausted and tired of doing my hair! LOL but thinking back, I should have spoke up. Currently, I am searching for a natural hair stylist because I am in desperate need of a healthy trim! I hope I get as lucky as you in finding a patient and knowledgeable stylist because my hair is extremely thick!

I love love love you Whitney! You are one of my top Girl Bosses out there! I was reading a book called "Adulting" by Kelly Williams Brown and it gave me the idea that you could write your own book! You have tons of valuable tips (and not just the awesome hair ones) that could save a life and I know it would be a best seller!!

I'm so happy that you had a positive experience. I must have been scarred by my previous salon experiences because those few clips of you in the chair got my heart rate up; fine-toothed comb for detangling and the fasted diva cut I've ever seen. Other diva cut vids feature stylists who, like yours, define each curl, but then go super slowly and deliberately when cutting. That said, you look great :)

Thank you SO much for this video!!! I've recently accomplished a major goal and my reward for myself is a treat to the salon for a fresh layered cut. I haven't had anyone touch my hair but myself in at least 7 years. (So, I'm a bit nervous.) I'm definitely going to take your advice and provide photos of what I do and do not want. Thanks for that suggestion!!!

My thoughts exactly! The #1 reason I have not gone to get my hair done is because the time and technique it takes to detangle my hair. The only way I would go is if its already detangled because that is an hour long process...just have to find a stylist willing to play along

Your hair is just beautiful. I would really like you to show us how and what you did to get your hair looking like that. I know it's a twist out, but I have tried over and over and just failed all the time. I can't wait to make an appointment with your stylist.
