As an over 50 white belt coming with about 18 months of training I’ve enjoyed your vids. Thanks for the content.
That’s great to hear! Starting over 50 is tough!
Nice roll. You gave him a real challenge. I wonder if there is a way to make that north south triangle even tighter? I've seen you get it quite a few times without the finish. I wonder if there was a chance to get his left arm in there as well?
Yes I need more experimentation!
Looking strong
Thank you. I wish I felt it. Ha
Eddie’s a fun roll. He’s very strong and not spazzy but can really control you if he gets to a dominant spot.
Word!
And incredibly handsome
@@edanguiano6096 Haha. Indeed Eddy!
I wish I knew what you meant by passing with the arm under the leg and grabbing the wrist. Are you talking about the far wrist? My go to pass on the ground is an under the leg pass i learned it from Roy Harris. It’s not as effective in no gi but it can still work.
Believe he means near side (same side). I think you can do this to negate them framing on you to keep distance.
It’s hard to say definitively from just watching a video, but he seemed kinda mad walking away after the north south triangle attack.
He was probably slightly annoyed. Ha
Im a new white belt in my late 20s. Ive done around 12-15 classes now. What do you recommend I do to ensure I am constantly improving my skills while avoiding injuries? I go twice per week
Learn about making strong frames and small movements. Look for big problems you may be having during your rolls and research with UA-cam videos.
Why not start from standing? Even to just practice pulling guard.
I do sometimes. Why is that your central focus?
@@Jitsover50 I was just wondering. I used to always start seated which helped me practice guard retention and sweeps but then recently started from standing more even to just pull guard and realized how much I had to practice pulling guard in to a guard that I used to practice starting from.
@@felixthea I hear ya. I started my 16 years ago so I have had plenty of practice pulling guard. At this point I just don't think the risk of injury when starting from standing is worth it.
Being over 50 myself I rarely start from standing, too much potential for injury. I have many times before but as you get older injury prevention becomes a main focus. Can't train if you have a blasted knee.
@@bujindork There funny thing is even when I explain this to young people they shrug it off. Get injured anyway. Then come back and start wrestling again. Taking down a skilled resisting opponent. Especially when they are younger, bigger or stronger is super dangerous. I would much prefer to pull guard and sweep into a dominant position.
It’s hard to tell from the videos and you may not be but you always look very stiff in your rolls. As though you’re very tense.
Quite the opposite. It goes against my entire ethos. If I were stiff and tense I would gas out. As I’ve explained numerous times. It seems you are trying to insult me but I don’t know why. Either way thanks for watching
I apologise if it seems I’m trying to insult you, I am not at all. It was simply an observation.
No he doesn't? I'm only a blue belt but he looks pretty controlled and precise to me.
