Leonis Small Stones Wire Wrapped Pendant, STEP BY STEP easy Wire Wrapping Tutorial for Mini Pendants

  • Hi everyone! To get you ready for the holiday, here is a quick and beautiful, one-wire frame, mini pendant tutorial! I do this in Gold Fill wire but you can do this wrap in any wire. I show one fully detailed wrap (the Golden Rutile Quartz) then I show 2 quick time versions of it, using a faceted Citrine and an oval Labradorite Cabochon.
    The materials are 20 gauge, square, soft or half-hard wire (I am using Dead soft wire), and any small cabochon between 8mm and 10mm. I use 6 inches of 22g half-round wire for banding but you can also sub with 28 or 26 gauge round weaving wire too.
    Tools are Flush Cutter, Round Nose and/or Bent or Chain Nose pliers. Sandpaper at 800 grit, wet/dry (optional) and a polishing cloth, also optional.
    The wrap is the same in all three pendants but they will look slightly different depending on the size and shape stone you use.
    While I show a faceted Citrine... this particular gem does not have a pointy back side. It's domed like the front, the shape is called Saucer shape. Pointy gemstones do not work well in this wrap. Flat-back gemstones that are round or oval work best.
    The Rutile Quartz Cabochon I'm using is 8mm long x 5mm wide by 4mm deep Oval.
    The Citrine is about 10mm round and Saucer shape.
    The Labradorite is 10mm long x 7mm wide, Oval.
    You can sub with larger 18 gauge wire and a larger stone up to 12mm.
    I hope you love!

    New subscriber and a very happy camper to have found you! Have been a rock hound collecting interesting stones that "call to me" since I learned to walk! Love keeping my "buddies" with me and finally want to learn how to securely wrap them so I can keep a couple around my neck and wherever else on me that I can. Am so excited!

    Very lovely design! There's got to be a way to get the cabs to stay (or stick) to the wire! Maybe a little droplet of super glue if the stone isn't transparent? - I have a little tremor in my hands and I think it might become very frustrating! Nonetheless, I'm still going to try this design. I only have 21g square wire... would that work?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Рік тому +1

      Thank you, TreeSa! Here is a good jewelry glue... it's like super glue, so work with a very small amount, onto a toothpick, then dab onto the back of the stone but it drys in seconds so only when you are ready to set the gem... it might help you. Honey works too... it's a temporary hold but rinses off if it goes wrong... just another idea. Sometimes we only need a little hold until the wire gets over the stone.💕🙏 let me know how it goes. Here is the glue... www.amazon.com/EuroTool-GLU-100-00-New-Glue-Bottle/dp/B0058ECYC0/ref=asc_df_B0058ECYC0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241973987467&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1060903770562271643&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014573&hvtargid=pla-574726448143&psc=1

    This was a tough one! But I did it and hopefully I get better as I do it a few times! But it was good enough to where! What inspires the names that you give them? There beautiful names. Again thank you for your time!

      Regarding the names... they are not all named formally, some are phrases that I put into a few languages that I love, Latin and French, sometimes Greek. Arbor Vitae, is Latin for The Tree of Life, Arbor Amoris, Latin for the Tree of Love... sometimes they come from what I call the frame... Siderails pendant, Platform Pendant... sometimes from the rocks.... My Apatite Pendant uses my blue Apatite stone, Dragons Blood for the stone, Alice's Amethyst etc. I am one of the Ancients, so the names come from my travels through time. I have interest in systems of the past... Single Clarity is the one you should try after Leonis... similar but different, if you did Leonis, you can do Single Clarity without doubt. 🥰💕🙏 sometimes they come from a poem I've written in past.

      It should, but if they get squirly, you might consider adding some banding wraps or even a little weave.

    Do yo have a teardrop gem wire wrapped something like this !❤️

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Рік тому

      I don't, Tish, this wrap is probably best with rounds and ovals, but I will see if I ever set a teardrop in it, I'll try to record that for us. My mind says it can be done, you just need to make one end pointy as you coil around the stone... try it, I think it will work. I might try it today now! :D

    Where do you get your wire?
    How do you keep the square wire from twisting?😊

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  9 місяців тому

      Thanks, Erica, I buy wire at Riogrande.com and regarding the square wire, you just 'manage' it... I show how to get control over the twist in several videos, including this one I think? Thanks again and thanks for watching!

    You did great but for people like me who make the piece as they are watching, don't back up in the middle and switch the design so we get 3/4 the way done and are too short on our wires.
