  • How to check your rifle for leaks. Use OIL to check the seals, NOT WATER as this will cause rusting.

    Another leak point is through the air pressure gauge, through the hole in the side of the gauge, if so, new gauge required.

    How about putting a little bit of “spit” over the end of the barrel to check for any leaks from the firing valve?

    Thanks for the info, would u say if an air arms s400 has a leak, a replacement of all seals (standard with a full service I assume?) would generally resolve the issue? mine had loss pressure down to nothing whilst in storage, initially couldn't get it to fill, but I can if I blast the air in quickly. But it loses pressure overnight now. You referenced the fill valve so I presume that can be something not covered in a service?

      Hi Mark, thank you for your comments. A full service includes the stripdown and replacing of all seals, cleaning and polishing if component parts. Should any other parts need changing that will added to the service charge.

      You will need the tool to remove the fill end cap and know how to get the anti tamper caps out. Once your through that the rest is pretty easy . I have refrained from putting up a full strip guide as i service and repair a wide variety of rifles, if I show how it's done no one will need me lol

    Hi rich my s410 carbine is leaking from the fill valve, i have stripped it down and the domed valve and spring look ok is there not a o ring inside there? should there be or is it the outer rubber seal that seals it please? i know there is two O rings on the outer shaft that the fill connector seals against.. just looks strange just the domed valve spring assisted seating up to the alloy concave bit on the valve housing thanks again Jim

    • @dvschesterfield8615
      @dvschesterfield8615 5 років тому

      Hi Jim. Yes there should be a small o ring on the top of the none return valve, without it the air will just leak out. It's a small o ring, can be bought from" BiggO" Sheffield individually or as part of a full seal kit.

    Hello . s410 carbine 5 5 is the speed of the pellet when it exits the pipe. in ms. thank you in advance

    • @richdvs
      @richdvs  2 роки тому +1

      No, 5.5 relates to the calibre of the pellet, .22 is 5.5mm, .177 is 4.5mm.
      Speed is recorded in Feet Per Second or FPS and should be arround 550 .22 or 770 .177 as a reference

    Just under the mag indexer there is a very small grub screw when I dry fire there is a leak coming from it ! Is this normal ?

    • @richdvs
      @richdvs  3 роки тому

      If you are dry firing your rifle you may get a little blowback from the breech seal into the mag well. The breech seal may need changing or the rifle servicing to make sure its all leak free. Drop me a message to dvschesterfield@gmail.com if you need it doing. Richard

    Hey my friend. I have air leak in my air arms s510 at the air loading port. How to resolve this problem ? I want to show you on photo where exactly it is.

    • @richdvs
      @richdvs  4 роки тому

      If its leaking from the filling adapter, make sure the rifle cylinder is totally empty, use an appropriate size spanner to remove the filling
      End(the silver T lock filling adapter). As you remove it make sure you dont loose the small spring from the none return valve. Remove the seal from none return valve and replace it. Its also advised that the seal between the filling adapter and the cylinder end cap is replaced.

    I have an AA S410 Classic which has a major air leak through the barrel (it blows a balloon up placed on the end of the barrel in minutes). Which seal is leaking and what is involved in replacing it?

    • @richdvs
      @richdvs  6 років тому

      David Parnell
      That would be the exhaust valve, and it's located within the valve body. Essentially the whole rifle needs to be stripped to gain access to it. The air cylinder needs removing, the valve pot and spring, replace the valve and rebuild. If you don't have the experience or the tools please send me a email as I can do this for you.

      Sounds like your transfer port to me. Take the stock off and the 6 bolts under it to remove the barrel. The transfer port has a white washer that might be leaking. Replace it.

    • @richdvs
      @richdvs  6 років тому +2

      Because the air is blowing directly through the barrel it's got to be the firing valve, as it's the only way the air would constantly leak from the air cylinder.
      If it was the transfer port it would only leak when fired. The transfer port seal sits between the valve body and the breech unit, is a black N70s seal and will only show a leak when the rifle is fired.

    Hi rich, can you help me please.. i was firing my s410 carbine and there was a rush of air from the rifle and obviously stopped firing, i tried to refill of my bottle and its just blowing air through barrel full pressure of the divers bottle going through the barrel, rifle worked fine before the Hiss of air escaping.. can you advise please what may be the problem many thanks jim

    • @dvschesterfield8615
      @dvschesterfield8615 5 років тому +1

      Hi Jim, thank you for your comment. Sounds like you ran the rifle below 60 bar as at this pressure the hammer will hold the firing valve open, causing the remaining air to dump. Refilling the rifle from empty: Cock the rifle ensuring the magazine is out and no pellet in in the breech. With the rifle cocked, start filling the rifle. You may find you need to give the rifle a blast of air to reseat the valve, then continue to fill slowly to 190 bar. Disconnect from the fill cylinder and discharge the rifle in a safe direction.
      Let me know how you get on.
      Richard.

    what is the easiest way in your opinion to remove the anti tamper to the power adjuster.
    i'm fitting a reg to my s510 and need to open it.
    cheers

    • @richdvs
      @richdvs  8 років тому

      Firstly thank you for your question.
      I have to ask why you feel the need to fit a regulator to your S510? The air arms S400/500 series are self regulating by means of a brass pot on tbe back of the valve body. You will also have to drill a breather hole in the air cylinder, probably have to drill the transfer port so, ask yourself this.....is it really worth fitting a aftermarket part to a perfect rifle.
      I am sorry to say I can not give advice on how to remove Anti tamper plugs/caps on any rifle but I can however remove them for you.
      Richard.

    • @richdvs

      Ernie Amos it will be the actual firing valve that will be at fault. Requires a full strip down to change it
