Another tip is when you pull the trailer out, stop at the edge of the water and let the water drain off the trailer and dont drag all that water up the ramp. Only takes a couple of minutes to pause and let the majority of the water drain off the trailer. This will keep the ice build up closer to the waters edge and not such a problem as the whole ramp iced up.
On the same note, by taking it slow getting the trailer out of the water, not as much water gets swept up onto the ramp. Easier on wheel bearings as well
That is some good advice. I especially like the one about leaving the front hook on the boat when backing it into the water when it’s below freezing. From experience, the bunks are really slick.
Always pull the trailer up where the ass end just gets out the water and let it drain for a few minutes. 90 percent of the water will drain back into the lake or close to it. Leaving just minimal water up the ramp as your driving off.
Another tip to put something in your boat that will fit up in the pee hole on your motor ive had mine freeze up several times and my motor couldnt pee from ice in the hole .but good tips👍
Surely the locals have enough common sense to stop the trailer just at top of water when pulling out and let it run the water out of the trailer tubing and drip off a little and then ease out not to cover the ramp in water. And drip the least amount water possible to help limit ice on the ramp itself. Well I forget common sense is not so common these days . I’m in East Texas where this isn’t a issue and I know this from common sense .

Yes..this helps the next guy big time..let ALL that water drain out...

This is a great tip
Great tips for cold starts. Very important for those of us who fish in Michigan. Lots of cold days.

Great tip, I've had mud wasp plug my cooling water discharge hole with their nests many times.
Good video..But you should have done the take out also as thats just as important as putting her in the water...
I’ll have to do that next!

Oh yeah?

starting the motor when you drop it in would nt make a difference its putting it in gear that would start turning the gears
I just like letting it sit for any water that was in the prop or around the shaft. That way if it was frozen it’ll thaw out and put less stress on it
A boat like that does not have a remote drain plug lol
I hate remote drain plugs haha I like the cheap and easy ones
