If you don't want powerlines running through the Lowlands, perhaps using a local Windmill for the Grinding of flour. Not efficient, but it could look pretty with a Windmill, Grinder, and residential House in a little compound together. Throw in a shrub, a bench, maybe a scarecrow for some rural looks.
I'm sure the lowlanders are very frustated that they are surrounded by all that lovely water but there's no lido they can swim in. Also that platform would look lovely with a pier coming off it, maybe with a carousel on it .
The word you were looking for was agrarian, and the lowlands is looking very agrarian indeed. What if you built some sort of Lord's Manor up on that tall hill near the metal blocks, somehow incorporating the District Center? You could also hide anything that needs some power up there like the mud baths or even the mills. Also, if you wanted to keep the agrarian/primitive theme, you could not give them bots because they don't like technology.
How about popping some blueberry bushes around edges of the stands of trees? mix it up with a few sunflowers/dandelion. Even throw in some them among the trees for a more patchy/broken up look. A little path among the trees with a gazebo (bench/platform/roof), or a single home hidden among the trees on one of the higher edges. The double/triple lodges could be placed in the water by the single platforms for a marshy house effect?
In the lowlands add a small home with a farm on it or next to it, spread through out to give the rural vibe. Then add some small water tanks spread through out the wetlands, or even close to the houses. Then the big storages of the wetlands and other buildings are in a central location like in a rural town.
Ooh, I've been calling this the Riverlands and imagining it has these little patches of houses on platforms throughout the system connected by roads also on platforms, like a fishing village on stilts. Leaving the islands more open and wild, the beavers literally living on the rivers and one main island, farming their spadderdock and cattail . Yeah... That's my two cents 😊
I love how you're building a place called the lowlands, which pretty much is the English translation of the Netherlands/Holland. As they're basically not drowning because of dams/dykes. Have most of the houses on stilts (i.e. amsterdam) and you've built an island out of nothing by sort of pumping sand to one place (the provinces we call Flevoland or even Zeeland). Great work! Love the series, keep it up, I've been looking forward to every new episode😊❤
If you're planning out the tree species for the lowlands it's worth noting that in wet areas with lots of resources, one species of tree dominates the area. You get more variety if the resources are sparse (desert areas) as the different species compete for resources in different ways.
Are you sure about this? Or is that due to human monoculture? Because ive always heard that in old forest and natural growth treespecies are diverse with a healthy undergrowth...
After seeing the neak peekm in the Shorts I wasn't sure what I was going to be seeing LOL, but it's amazing :) love how you've done the water farms :) & great ideas on how to fix the irrigation issues that may happen down the line. :) See you tomorrow!! Thanks again for the Shorts video, just what we needed over the weekend :D :D :D
I'm still hoping to see an ironteeth playthrough, if you're up for it. Loving the map design and all the jokes you two make, it's a lot of fun to watch.
I'd love to see bridges connecting stilted platforms, like in Laketown from the Hobbit. I'm also worried you won't have enough crops to feed your whole population of beavers, so what about having more farm houses throughout the lowlands, as if they're little huts where beavers are living? I agree with some other comments I saw recommending a few sets of windmills attached to grist mills, to support the agrarian vibe. Finally, remember that the only way to have crops not be harvested is to have zero farmhouses in range. If you unmark them for planting near a farmhouse, they will just be harvested and not replaced!
I thought about placing the spadder docks in the middle of the river or in the middle of the river crossings to create some more difference between spadderdocks and cattails, but I can't imagine if it would look so good. In any chase I really love this project, greets from Germany
This is my idea: you should get rid of the upper reservoir and the backup reservoir, let's do a complete loop of the aqueduct that will end in the low land, that way it will flood back in the main stream to the final reservoir. Unfortunately it will nullify the lake of go go Power beavers, but you can use a couple of pumps to bring water to the correct height.
hey Skie, I was thinking that with the bad water you was going to not be able to automatice everything, but good news, you can! the water pumpers can filter
The Lowlands are looking amazing already, and it's only a matter of time before the entire area is awash with vegetation. As for ideas, I'm sad to say that nothing comes to my mind for the Lowlands that you haven't already planned on doing, such as filling in all the narrower waterways with cattails for example. And as a person with a usually creative mind, I almost feel as if I'm letting you down by not having any good ideas here, Skye. So instead, I'll offer the one idea that HAS come to mind while watching this episode. Assuming the main reservoir containing the battery farm is in its final state, why not put a couple temporary forester huts along the length and fill all the empty space up there with trees, making it look as if nature itself had been allowed to reclaim whatever areas hadn't been built upon? This would have a two-fold visual effect that I believe would look amazing up there on Helix Mountain. Firstly, as mentioned, it'd be as if nature has reclaimed whatever it could, the forests being able to finally spread across the entire mountain thanks to it being effectively under permanent irrigation after the beavers' many cycles of hard work. And secondly, having an area that is a deliberate blend of nature and industry would look amazing, especially in such a massively elevated area like Helix Mountain. And to further enhance the natural look, you could plant up not the entire Helix Forest, but rather just the growth-blend areas where you feel they'd look the best. That way, the trees would grow in a natural way to fill the blank spaces. For instance, having a spot of mixed birch and maple that is manually planted so that each type has its own designated direction to spread, but not actually planting up the areas of purely birch or purely maple. What do you think, Skye? An idea with potential, or something that might only work on paper but not in practice? Or something else entirely?
Better late than never , I arrive like a drunken wizard , not precisely when I meant to but as soon as was possible. Are there shrubberies? I was led to believe there would be shrubberies ;)
I know the design for the lowlands is mostly set in stone, but you could try doing something like in Pacifilog town in Pokemon. With islands of platforms connected by bridges instead of just expanding the land.
A little disagreements is fine but if the go go power beavers go to war with the lowlanders all they need to do is to cut their water supply for not paying their water bill also the place would look great if only mangroves were available in this version

Bushes rather than fences for the Lowlands would look extra great and differentiate them from the Highlanders!
or berries
Or dandelions
Unmatched Timberborn content
Thank you! :)
Agreed!

some benches on the low platforms overlooking the water would be a nice touch

Agrarian!! Thank you! :)
You are such an awesome world builder my friend! Your creativity is inspiring. I know it sounds corny but it’s true. Keep it up kind sir!
Thank you so much 😁 .. very appreciated
Since the spatterdock spreads by rhizomes, it might be an idea to add a few randomly placed one a space or two away from the main patches.

how about make a mini lake using water dump, add some cattail or spadderdock. use berriies and dandelions or sunflower for decoration too.

Gotta love this lowland bayou. all that's missing is banjos, gators & Cajun cuisine.
you should dot some wheat around the water edges, then remove the farmhouses. It will look like long water grass growing!
For a short time .. then it will turn yellow :(
You sir are the Bob Ross of spatterdock planting
"I'm not going down that rabbit hole again" - I think we all knew what that meant, Skye 🤣🤣
Same energy:
Liz Thruss: " I am not a quitter!"
Skye Storme: "I will not go down that rabbithole!"
26:22 depending on the type of tree seasonal flooding is good for tree health and very important for for the overall ecosystem.
I feel like you might need to use the dev tool on the water source and bring them up to 1.5x, but you are the God the beavers worship

You should try mods. Different paths. Different fences. You would love it Skye!
So glad i found your channel. Love the timberborn content
i dont know if it works but maybe have some big houses in the water where the opening is above the water line. it may also save you eveporation?
so glad you've continued the series

Use sunflowers, dandelions, berry bushes and sporadic single tiles of wheat to make fields to block trees from spreading. Looks very Pastoral.
Amazing work, engineer and artist 👍

Wie gehts! :)
realistically I think platforms should shade tiles and reduce evaporation in water tiles underneath them by half
Really enjoyed this video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That reservoir system is ingenious
Even if you unplant crops farmers will still harvest them, it’s one way you can clear farm plantings to build paths or whatnot.
Just like the highland beavers have a issue with verticality I think the lowland beavers could have an issue with mechanical power

When worrying about evaporation, just remember that Islands are your friends.
i love the low lands :D my fav so far
Bridges upon bridges upon bridges
Lowlands should get some lido relaxation
Perfect location for an excess of it
hey Skie, I was thinking that with the bad water you was going to not be able to automatice everything, but good news, you can! the water pumpers can filter
a semi agrarian/leisure would work great. so things like a farmers market or large gardens with camping lodges for the other beaver groups to relax
Have you ever used the train mod?
Can be very helpful increasing the hauling efficiency over longer distances.
Great video!
Bamboos have rhyzoms too.
The more you know!
You reduce the evaporation by removing water capacity. You end up with less water reserve than you would if you'd maximize your holding capacity.

Skye, have you looked at the mod for the water beavers? Someone with your... precision.. would do well with that XD
Blueberry patch on the Largest/ Lowest landmass between the two mounds in front of the scaffolding !!
For sparse trees why not try making a field of dandelions with the occasional tree and bushes dotted here and there.
I know the design for the lowlands is mostly set in stone, but you could try doing something like in Pacifilog town in Pokemon. With islands of platforms connected by bridges instead of just expanding the land.
Would building platforms to cover the water reduce evaporation at all?
I’m your next playthrough I’d love to see you do a hunger games with districts.. beaver games 😂
Does covering the water with platforms slow the evaporation?
Great 👍 love it😊
Surviving the Abyss
Play same map with iron teeth
Yeah I've said the same a few times. Even if it's on a different map I'd love to see Skye dealing with the different challenge of the Iron teeth
you can check the year 1287 and all the floodings that occured in southern england 👍
Single houses by themselves in the water
Skye, does the platform coverage affect the water evaporation rate?
I'm tromotised after watching beavers plant spadodock in times 3
Do an island on stilts that has bridges connecting to the rest of the lowlanders
You do have irrigation towers 0.0
Like before you watch!
Could be super nice 🙂with some trains around the map,- or is that a mod ?
It's a mod :)
You should try to make the lowlands look like dynasty china
Welcome back to tim-ber- wait wrong intro
Remember playing frost punk?!
You are going to hate the new update.
😊
🤘
Grats on first ;)

I swear you never play iron teeth, when you do play the bad water update please do ironteeth
whats the difference?
@@squidwardo7074 iron teeth have some different buildings, the iron teeth are more "industrial" while the foxtails are more like nature guys.
Mmm cherry pie
Hi Skye
Hi :)
bro just disapparated
Looks great but not as good your TF2 maps!!!!
