The dub is great and all but this is why I fell in love with the sub, just the raw emotion of Ed's voice as he promises he will come back. Chills, every time
If you don’t speak or understand the language at all then all you hear is noise.
its so funny to me that people equate more intense screaming (even when its over the top) as more raw, real emotion. just because the scream is intense doesn't mean it suits the emotion of the scene or is somehow more genuine. its easier to fall into this when you don't really speak the language you're hearing. you don't know how to recognize something as bad acting when you don't understand how people actually speak day to day in whatever language (not that it was bad acting in this particular scene. just an example)
@@gnoogie I see no problem with that. I actually prefer shows that I don't know the language of. Because I can understand the meaning of what they are saying by the subtitles + how they sound. Sometimes I just cringe if it's bad acting and that takes a lot out of a show, but if I can't understand them, it's less common for me to notice bad voice acting.
@@ardel-4964 that's fair, but I think once you're exposed to enough of a language you don't understand, you start picking up on how emotions sound and can start being able to tell what's bad just from tone and pitch rather than actual words. I was very much of your philosophy when I was new ish to anime but after a couple years the bad acting started being more apparent as I was exposed to more and more both good and bad performances
@@gnoogie true, but it's way easier to notice bad acting from a language I know. So I still prefer the language that I do not understand. Plus dubs can mess up a lot, because they have to match the lips so sometimes they miss some things the character said or changed it. But on re watch I don't care what language it is, if the English dub is good I'll watch it in English. If it sucks, japanese it is.

Probably one of my fav episodes, the hope to see that Al can recover his body, and Ed's promise to take him back 😭😭😭
Also Envy didn’t just disguise himself as a military man to kill the kid but also the military man that was publicly opposed to Amestris’s association with Ishval and most Ishvalans trusted him. He later was punished for what Envy did.
Didn't he end up being driven to kill himself too?

Envy in multiple tales is called a green monster which is jealousy imagined as a monster that attacks people. That’s why Envy has that form.
One of the best moments of the series for sure also fun fact of that last scene, in the manga Ed doesn't punch trough the door and makes the promise to Al that was just original from Studio Bones but the author of the manga absolutly LOVED IT.
So many revelations and great moments in these 2 episodes. So many.

My personal favorite episode. Absolutely amazing ending scene when Ed basically overcomes god for a sec to tell his little brother's body that he'll definitely come back for him.

The part 2 of this show (episode 15-26) IS PERFECT. And they put the perfect ending song for this part. I swear they did this on purpose to collect tears 😭
Envy is always a character depicted as someone who is ashamed of their own appearance, therefore they live in disguise, but powerful in their true form.
This arc was amazing!!

The worst thing is, the Soldier he impersonated waa against the military intervention in Ishval, even before the Civil war started, and later got executed for that Crime.

Envy’s ability makes perfect sense, because envy is the desire to have what someone else has. That’s why he can literally steal their likeness, down to their voice.
When you finish this I'd love to see you react to the bloopers from the English version. I know you're watching in Japanese so it might be a bit odd to hear their English VAs but the reel is hilarious.

Agree..fma is actually a series with a super dark theme but she made it fun with jokes and crazy antiques.. perfect blend
Something I've heard is that the scene where Ed talks to Al's body is a bit different than in the manga. Originally, he just said everything he did as he was being dragged through the door. Actively punching the door back open and fighting with everything he has for the chance to say what he needs to say was only added in Brotherhood, though it did get the mangaka's seal of approval after the fact.

Itsna social exsperiment in itself do the ends justify the means and are we bad because our actions or our beleifs irl i fall on actions because thats only way to have a objective ethical standard without becoming anhypocrite or just picking favourites but its fiction so scar makes a good villain a character thats actions are evil but has motive that is understandable and humanised by showing their a person still
I recommend watching this scene in the dub , the voice acting for that scene is incredible
The sub for that scene is definitely better imo since Eds voice is much better in the sub.
No, i think it's pretty much the same level. Then again english is not my 1st language so I always prefer the sub for fmab.

Envly is slightly right peoples beleifs fall on their emotions
As i said on mpethics the ends justify the means arguent actualy falls down to emotion and hypocricy
You beleive in the same ideiology or sympathise with them then your likeoy to acept their crimes but if you disagree with their ideology and end goal them your nit going to feel their means were justified
This makes it a terible and self absorbed view of ethics
not to mention it breaks people down into slaves to be sacrificed for someone elses goal
