@@chpman2013 Theyve used Whelen Cencom's for years. The new cars from now on, will have a stand alone variant instead of the one what was integrated with the MDT. The new variant doesnt have the ond CHP tones so they just used a generic tone that is in thw sirens programming
The pushbar lights seemed to be synced to the lightbar (passenger side flashes at the same time, then driver side) on the older chargers.... and this car seems to be synced at first, but then when he turns on the siren (which starts mid pitch), it's no longer synced.
My son would totally agree with you sir - Here in New Hampshire our State Police Vehicle's are either All Blue Light's or Blue/White Light's in the front & Red/Blue Light's in the back & the same thing goes for the unmarked vehicle's too.
It's the Whelen Cencom Core. Not only have they changed sirens, but they've changed computers and radios, too. Siren is really "meh", not quite as cool or distinctive as their custom Whelen siren...but it'll have to do, for now.
@@mountedpatrolman what would've been nice is if the WSSC30 Wail and Yelp tones were added to that long list of tones...but I think they went with the Core for it's other features (such as having the outer edges of the lightbar be turned off when you open the doors, having the Hi-Lo tone with a recorded evacuation warning, and more).
@@chpman2013 They are likely already in the list, there are a ton of euro sirens in there. I havent looked in Whelen command lately, but it would not be an issue to have them add those tones, especially at the request of a large agency like CHP. I currently run the Mechanical "Q" siren on my manual button.

Core has even more options like vehicle to vehicle synchronization, DVI patterns, remote updates, analytics, live tracking and a few other cool things that are still not out yet.
Yea, it’s California highway units use Back n’ fourth patterns. Then of’ course, Every law enforcement unit in California needs Steady burn due to Police impersonation.

@@jadendemarre83 California Vehicle Code Sec. 25252 steady burn requirements have nothing to do with police impersonation...it's a requirement for all authorized emergency vehicles and has been the case for 50+ years. It's just a wacky Californian thing.
Yea, California Highway Patrol switched sirens due to few parts on the other ones to manufacture. They use the Epsilon siren now. It’s sad to not hear those things go off anymore. The Epsilon though is one of the most popular so, a lot of companies switched to those including Las Angeles Fire Department and LA COUNTY fire.
@@CWFLAEMOFC Its not sapphire. Only Carbide/Cantrol/Core can control the flash patterns of the individual light heads. Sapphire only activates the internal flasher of the light.
I’m going to miss the old siren but at-least I like the Whelen Default tone so it wont be too bad Ps the reason I say default tones instead of epsilon is because they use smart systems that are fully programmable whilst the epsilon is discontinued and not programable like the whelen core or sapphire
The siren was turned off while traveling through the residential neighborhood. It was activated when the driver approached the intersection where it would be beneficial.
What is wrong with this cars light package. Comes up to intersection everything turned off. Gets thru the intersection and the rear red light and 1 little blue pod on the left is flashing. Messed up looking unit.

The whelen epsilon is a good siren but the OG chp siren needs to stay on at least some of the units

Didn't really have a name, it was just a custom siren for them...although I think it derived from the WSSC30 siren.
They are not changing the siren, just on the newer purchased vehicles they are putting them on.

The Core has almost 50 different programmable siren tones, whoever set them up probably didn't know how to select the right tones.
