Good stuff Andrew. No shame in showing the frustrations we all experience. Deff had plenty of those days! I’ll try and get in on the stream tonight. Thanks for the upload!!
Gas/Propane selector switch is a HUGE issue with these Dual Power Firmans. Mine broke after two uses and was still under warranty. They sent a replacement and now it's broken. There are x3 of these micro switches that are connected to the selector switch and they are a PITA to access. Generator works great so its too bad the smallest link causes it to not be a top rated generator.
Great video!! My wife and I were laughing with you, not at you, of course. I got here because, surprise(!), my selector switch isn’t working. Thanks for the video and the solution!
Thanks for this video! I had the same problem with the fuel selector unable to move to the gas side. Unscrewed it and put it back on and now I can select gas again. Running it now to make sure it's good to go before the big Nor-Easter coming in this weekend.
The poor ol girl has been abused and left with bad gas. Maintenance is a wonderful thing. Good video, that will help a lot of people get things working again.
It’s easier to get to that bolt from the backside with a 6” extension and deep well lol just a tip, the one I have the gasoline fuel solenoid won’t get power when fuel switch is on gas, only ng/lp I don’t know wtf is wrong with this thing
In show biz....Break a leg....well this is small engine repair... I always say Break a pull cord.. supposed to be figure of speach...pshhhh Glad you made it through.
F-Bombs always come out when I work on stuff like this. It's always the simplest little things that make you pull your hair out like dropping a nut or washer down into a bay somewhere or not being able to reach a bolt location that was poorly designed to cause major hassles during maintenance. I do find that these small engines are quite simple and unless the internals of the engine core are completely shot, you can get them running again. No computers to mess with. Just simple carbs, chokes, fuel supply, clean air, spark and starting mechanisms. If those are all good, they usually will run.
Firman has a fuel selector design problem. Here's a fix. The rotating fuel selection knob has a cam built into its rear plastics. When you rotate the fuel selection knob clockwise (towards the gasoline option), this cam pushes the micro switch's lever arm up. BUT, each time you rotate the fuel selection knob clockwise, the cam puts a lot of pressure on the front edge of the lever arm before the lever lifts up. This pressure, in turn, puts a lot of pressure on the long thin mounting screw holding the micro switch in place. The long thin screw soon bends, and the micro switch then rotates. The next time you go to select gasoline, the micro switch’s lever arm actually bites into the oncoming cam, causing the micro switch to severely rotate, and then break at the mounting screw. Game over. This happened to my Firman H08053, twice. (Same issue with H07552). Putting in a new micro switch will only solve the problem temporarily. What is really needed is to securely mount the micro switch to prevent its long, thin mounting screw from ever bending. To accomplish this, I used a small pull tie: 1) I removed the fuel selection knob. 2) I routed the pull tie through the round hole on the frame for the knob (there's room for the knob and the pull tie) and just clockwise of the micro switch’s lever arm so as not to interfere with it. 3) From the rear, I routed the pull tie snugly under the micro switch’s electrical contacts, and pulled everything together, nice and tight. It's a bit tricky, but problem permanently solved. Firman needs to redesign this.
Oh that's got to be aggravating with the switch then the string comes back out. I don't have patience that's why I don't fix stuff Lol. Man that stuff works great cleaning that carb. Well I knew you could fix it. Nice job buddy.
A 1/4" drive ratchet will fit in behind for the hidden bolt. Hang the handle down leaning towards the wheel side. It's a little crooked, but pushing on with your finger will get it out. I came here to see how to disconnect the duel fuel carburetor, but you didn't show that part!
Did you need to fix one of the 3 micro switches under the gas/lp switch? My Firman micro switch broke at the mounting post. Not the over tight LP/gas on/off on the outside of the gen. You have to remove the panel to see the 3 micro switches. Hence, the propane/gas switch would not turn off just like this one. Easy fix but hard see.
Wrench doesn't work either. I figured it out, though. Use a 1/4" ratchet and a swivel and a short 10mm socket. You can give the nut on the back of the air cleaner pan the reach-around.
BROOOOOO THE STORY OF MY LIFE!!!!!!1 TO ME IT HAPPENED RIGHT WHEN THE HEALTH INSPECTOR SHOWED UP. NO POWER = NO RUNNING WATER. IMMEDIATE SHUTDOWN AND MANDATORY RE INSPECTION AT THE MAIN OFFICE. OVER A 1K$ LOSS
I had the same issue with my first Firman. Fuel indicator switch had broken! Lasted me 6 months. Return it got a new one, gave the Firman another chance.. Pulley got loose and now its stuck.. Wont star because it wont crank over!! Lasted 4 months... 😠😠😠😠
Wondering if you have any advice. I have Forman df 7500. It will run for about 7-8 seconds then stop. I can't figure out why to save my life. What do you think? Also how the hell do you remove the spark arrestor?
I now HATE my Furman generator. Pull cord doesn't engage, and you MUST have a working battery or the unit WILL NOT WORK !!! What is the point of an emergency generator that needs a jump start.. Oh WAIT, you can't get to the Battery to jump start it... I HATE FURMAN !!!!
#1 tip: Have patience. 30 seconds later: Just bend it down. F@#$ it. we can reach in here with our F#$%ing 10mm and get the son of a b@#$% off. love it!!
that's why chinese is chinese and japanese is japanese I rather spend few more bucks buy a honda generator one pull and sleep sound for whole night, I meant honda eu2200
Is honda eu2200 heavy than the one he is talking about. We do not want a heavy one. What type of problem you had with honda. We are looking for a generator. Thanks
I just watched this video and I will never watch any more of your videos, I don't watch nothing that has the profanity in it like that, this is terrible
Thanks for the video had that problema with the fuel selector on mine to...
They're kind of a bad design
We just had the same issue with the Dual flip switch. Thank you sir!!!
Oh man... the escalation after just 10 secs after the "have patience" tip had me rolling. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks, will do!

Right bad Gas is the most common issue
It’s easier to get to that bolt from the backside with a 6” extension and deep well lol just a tip, the one I have the gasoline fuel solenoid won’t get power when fuel switch is on gas, only ng/lp I don’t know wtf is wrong with this thing
My hat goes off to you for going through all that hassle, someone give this man a cold beer….
I need a beer lol 🍻
Ive thrown a tool a time or 2 ... its just part of the business. But i find it funny when u get it all back together and running. Great video brother
Right it is all good now and rent a center got it to a good home..... I hope
@@RepairGang thats awesome
Fix...A low 12.5 volt battery resulted in no start. Adding a new 13.5 volt battery engaged the relay on regulator on auto start unit.
Hopefully I'll say the same thing at the end. Subscribed

Right need to have Patience
I believe it’s called Murphy’s Law….something I am very aware of. Lol 🤷♂️
Right just a pain some times the time jump in video is because I had to walk away for a few hours
