I think you're on to something. The extreme focus on hierarchy. All these rules mean that speaking in a formal context is impossible. You have to use different words. You have to rearrange your words and even your sentences. You have to compound everything. And the writing system is so screwed because of formality. Meanwhile the high status speaker can talk down to you, can compound words less, and puts you last.

My tiny brain cannot understand how anyone could come up with an entire language on their own like this, this is insane, I was just flabbergasted the entire time
This is the geekiest form of dystopian dark-comedy I have witnessed. With every subsequent grammatical table unveiled, I couldn't resist thinking, "I've seen contests where people invent the worst language ever, and those entries were less cursed than this." It wasn't until the video finished that I realized this song (literally) and dance was in fact a submission to the af'mentioned contest.
This is genuinely the best conlang-related video I have seen on UA-cam. I could spend non-chronologically ordered paragraphs talking about the sheer awesomeness of this video, but I just wouldn't know where to start. I will just say, I am *very* much looking forward for more of this. Have my humblest subscription.

I love the way this presents the chicken-or-egg question of language informing culture and culture informing language: the classism and xenophobia of the Anizauko is reflected in O'eaia's complex hierarchical grammar systems, which in turn reinforces said classism and xenophobia. I also like the subtle implication that the Anizauko keep their language bizarrely arcane on purpose, not only to signify a cultural in-group but also for the practical purpose of tricking foreigners still learning the language into becoming servants.

It might not be the single most cursed, but the quality of the conlang itself is very organic (if unnatural) on top of being veeery aesthetically pleasing while still having some outrageously cursed concepts. I personally would put a couple other conlangs higher on the list for genius/cursedness (I LOVED Franco-Enochian, Ŋðiwəŋa, ɲaɲa, Dipalomacy and Droukha, albeit even then I'm casting my vote for less-popular options I still want to see in the top 30), but even without the high-quality layers of gravy it's absolutely a strong contender, and I admit I'd be quite surprised to see it not win.

I spent twenty and a half minutes on the edge of my seat trying to wrap my mind around this nightmarishly hierarchical language on top of worrying for your safety in this dimension, and then out of nowhere comes this Twilight quote. I think that's the hardest I've laughed this month. Talk about a release of tension! But seriously, this is spectacular! You did such a great job! How long did it take you to develop this language? The worldbuilding is top notch, and I can't wait for the next one in the series. The UA-cam Algorithm has blessed me today.

This is REALLY impressive, from the editing to the music to the story to the depth of the language. The layers just kept building and building, and it was awesome to watch, definitely inspiring me!
So basically, the “elevator pitch” of this language is “what if formality rules were pumped up to like a billion?” And the resultant world concept ended up being “what if people were like… so insanely oppressive that every day to day conversation is an immense balancing act where anyone who trips up is sent right to the pits of Hell?”

I could write a comment here going over how I liked everything in this video but it'd be pointless; everything in this video is so perfect that I don't even know what to say. as a conlang, it feels a little kitchen-sink-y (which is fine, that's what like a majority of the submissions are) but nonetheless the way in which it works is still really cool. honestly I think the "speak correctly or you'll get punished" was a little cheesy, but it still worked really well in context.

all of the video leading up to replaying the cyborg command on the phone just to have the cyborg tonal language resolve to music is fucking brilliant AND THE BIRD IS REALLY REALLY CUTE TOO FUCKING MASTERPIECE
i showed someone this video and they said "This scares me. I would say that sentence in O'eaia, but that sounds hard" but then they did translate the sentence "This scares me." it translates to "Laū'omō lanisēkēi takuzhugotīaumana. Karīriaimomā elālau alire." which has the literal translation of "A clock greeted me with refeshments and green curtains. I feel roots calling for sleep." which is amazing the idioms are awful and i love it also this took them like 30 minutes to translate one short sentence

OMG WTF IS THIS THIS IS SO AMAZING Like, there's the whole tired cadance throughout the video which was the foundation of the realism, and then the full explanations of grammar interspersed with lore and story, the language switching into Chinese for the partner in the mission (and providing all-important contrast - i know 200 characters and they look like an oasis of simplicity compared to the complexity of the language presented. This language is worse than ithkuil even if it may be easier - it's needlessly complex and that's what makes it so beautiful, and in some way, horrifying, especially with how fucking up the language can have such dire consequences. 10/10 i loved every second of this video and it's going to be one i rewatch several times to appreciate fully

Got randomly recommended this. And wow I wasn’t expecting such quality! The conlang in and of itself is marvelous. The story being told was conveyed with some pretty good acting that left me genuinely wondering if ZeWei (I assume is the name of the bird character?) would be okay after all was said and done. honestly this is the most impressive submission I have seen so far, weirdly close to what I want to do for next year so I have to be careful not to steal to much subconciously (im def taking the vibrato for my own tone system, haven't even thought about it). Ill be really surprised if this is not among the winners for this year. The execution, the ideas? The compelling story? The music from the translation? Genuinely im so impressed. The verbs gaining meanings from the new formality are such a simple but genius idea. I was a bit skeptical when I watched the first few minutes, but it hooked me in so fast when the action kicked up. Amazing video! I don't know anything about linguistics and the construction of a language, but this video makes the concepts intuitive to me. With my first language being Chinese, I recognized that some of the quirks are similar to Chinese. This conlang takes different weird quirks from languages in our world and takes them to the extreme. As for the video, this is a very well-made video and I love it! The story and world building is intense, you even made music for it, and the editing is smooth and evenly paced, and the visuals are beautiful. I can't imagine the amount of effort needed to make this! I really can't appreciate this video enough! As ZuWei makes their daring escape, narrowly evading the eternal flame, ZuWei's first mission with LagHari Portals is a success! Not sure if the cyborg trees are happy about it though... I can't wait to see more of this series!

And the resultant world concept ended up being “what if people were like… so insanely oppressive that every day to day conversation is an immense balancing act where anyone who trips up is sent right to the pits of Hell?”

as a conlang, it feels a little kitchen-sink-y (which is fine, that's what like a majority of the submissions are) but nonetheless the way in which it works is still really cool. honestly I think the "speak correctly or you'll get punished" was a little cheesy, but it still worked really well in context.

i showed someone this video and they said "This scares me. I would say that sentence in O'eaia, but that sounds hard"
but then they did translate the sentence "This scares me."
it translates to "Laū'omō lanisēkēi takuzhugotīaumana. Karīriaimomā elālau alire."
which has the literal translation of "A clock greeted me with refeshments and green curtains. I feel roots calling for sleep."
which is amazing

Like, there's the whole tired cadance throughout the video which was the foundation of the realism, and then the full explanations of grammar interspersed with lore and story, the language switching into Chinese for the partner in the mission (and providing all-important contrast - i know 200 characters and they look like an oasis of simplicity compared to the complexity of the language presented.
This language is worse than ithkuil even if it may be easier - it's needlessly complex and that's what makes it so beautiful, and in some way, horrifying, especially with how fucking up the language can have such dire consequences.
10/10 i loved every second of this video and it's going to be one i rewatch several times to appreciate fully

Got randomly recommended this. And wow I wasn’t expecting such quality! The conlang in and of itself is marvelous. The story being told was conveyed with some pretty good acting that left me genuinely wondering if ZeWei (I assume is the name of the bird character?) would be okay after all was said and done.

honestly this is the most impressive submission I have seen so far, weirdly close to what I want to do for next year so I have to be careful not to steal to much subconciously (im def taking the vibrato for my own tone system, haven't even thought about it). Ill be really surprised if this is not among the winners for this year. The execution, the ideas? The compelling story? The music from the translation? Genuinely im so impressed. The verbs gaining meanings from the new formality are such a simple but genius idea. I was a bit skeptical when I watched the first few minutes, but it hooked me in so fast when the action kicked up. You 100% have my vote if that wasn't obvious from the overly long gushing comment. Excited to see you continue this series!

Amazing video! I don't know anything about linguistics and the construction of a language, but this video makes the concepts intuitive to me. With my first language being Chinese, I recognized that some of the quirks are similar to Chinese. This conlang takes different weird quirks from languages in our world and takes them to the extreme.
As for the video, this is a very well-made video and I love it! The story and world building is intense, you even made music for it, and the editing is smooth and evenly paced, and the visuals are beautiful. I can't imagine the amount of effort needed to make this! I really can't appreciate this video enough!
As ZuWei makes their daring escape, narrowly evading the eternal flame, ZuWei's first mission with LagHari Portals is a success! Not sure if the cyborg trees are happy about it though...
