The serial # of my Seiko diver watch which i bought in a garage sale way back in 1992 is 360214 and I'm still using it and it works fine it didn't open yet ever since
I’ve heard many similar stories …. These Seiko watches are seriously underrated and I think it won’t be like this forever …. The popularity of Seiko in western countries is really starting to pick up …. With prices for pieces on good condition noticeably going up …. If you have a nice Seiko, I say keep it :)
WOW!! SUPERINFORMATIONAL!!! I have seen similar codes utilized on food and beverage products, making it quite difficult to determine expiration dates. Often the codes have no logic behind them such as these Seikos have, almost requiring an Enigma codebreaker, or the need to call the manufacturer to break the code.
Great point!, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Prior to 1967 seiko had seven digit codes so any six digit codes are after that.
That’s a damn good observation…!!! Thanks so much for sharing the knowledge! Well noted… 1967 is the cut off….
I think Frankenwatches are a cool way to recylce watches. If some parts still work, why throw away the whole watch?
I soooo agree ….. it’s better than leaving them in a drawer … I also paint old scratched or water damaged dials as well to bring them back to use …. And to a new life ….
@vintagewatchstreet45 exactly!! We live in such a throw away culture, but our resources are limited. We need to take care of things and use things to its full effect.
Absolutely!!!
Well, by the numbers I'm a proud owner of a 1967 27 jewels bell matic JDM. Thanks for the video.
That is awesome! :) Lovely piece indeed !!!
Hi great video, i learned a lot. I have a seiko chronograph 7t32-7a20. S/N 388635. Im guessing it either 83' or 93' im not certain which exact year. Its in all gold tone. Any idea what year and maybe the worth? Thanks in advance
Your machine began production in 1993, so it’s not from 83…. And it is from the first year the machine was produced. To know your value, put your model number into eBay and click on SOLD LISTINGS and you’ll get a touch idea of the going price… but condition always makes a difference in value…. Condition condition condition…..
Thanks for the video, but how do we know the decade? "we know it was made through the seventies" how do we know that? I have a watch which i can narrow down to August 1981 or August 1991. If august 1981 that is 1 month older than i am which is awesome. if 1991 not so thrilling. I can not find the time frame when the model was made and do not know where to look it up. i have done hours and hours of searching.
Good question! You can also search for the machine in your Watch and see when that machine was produced…. What model is your Watch?
I have a Seiko 6139-6002 that my father gave me around 1973/74. The serial number is 340000. Does anyone know what the 0000 means?
It was possibly the first or last Watch produced that month….
Great video - thanks.
Thanks for watching !!! Glad you enjoyed it!!!
Can you explain about Seiko seahorse watch which has 7 digit serial number...
About the date and year..
Please will you...
The first number is the year of the decade it was made in, the 2nd number is the month of that year!
But if you have a seiko watch from the 70's, and it says D after the first number, does it stand for the month of the year that the first number represents?
Yes that’s exactly right !!!!!
Hi my seiko watch
seiko 5 automatic 21 jewels
940176(written straight)
Model 6319-602A(written curve)
Will this be read as 1979 or 1989 April month( 176th watch of that month)
You have to look when the 6319 was produced and narrow it down from that decade ;)
THANKS VERY MUCH 🙏
You are very welcome 🙏
@@vintagewatchstreet45 THANK YOU🌹🙏
Mine serial number is 265535 . Which year this made ??
Probably June 1972…. But you’d have to tell us what model your Watch is to be certain :)
Hello ! I found a seiko 5 online, and I thought of buying it. But it has no country indicated where it was made nor the automatic writing on the dial, is there a chance that its a knockoff ?
Would be best to answer with a picture :)
My Seiko 5 watch.serial no is.5D4442.please tell me date of year
This was made in December … and the 5th year of the decade your model was produced in.
My Seiko s/n is 8O0054 does this equate to the 54th watch made in October 1988 (the first month this watch, a 5H26-7A19, 200m dive watch was produced). I bought it in 1989 🤔
I’m not 100% sure it’s the 54th Watch from that months run, but you’re definitely right about the birth month and year of the timepiece.
So how do you really know if a watch is a franken or original seiko
All of the parts should match the model …. Some models had multiple different dials as well, so some more research is needed sometimes ….
@vintagewatchstreet45 yeah I just bought a watch online and I'm p sure the dial is fake, but the serial number on the case back seems legit from what I can tell. Any advice on that?
my seiko watch serial number is 7S26-01 R0 (A4) made in japan WP can you tell me mate what year was it manufactured I will be so thank full to you
I strongly believe 7s26 is not the serial number. It would very likely be the movement type.
Yes that’s exactly right!
That is your model number …. The other long number with no dashes is the serial number. What is your serial number ?
Can you advise me on my seiko Automatic PADI Monster tuna Serial Nbr 6n2492 with movement 4R36
That would be November…. And the 6th year of the decade your 4R36 was made ;)
@@vintagewatchstreet45 thankyou
You’re welcomed!
My father has a Seiko 5 automatic 17 jewel , what does it mean?
It means the machine has 17 jewels inside the machine, used where motion is happening, to reduce friction… jewels wear slower and have less friction than metal on metal….
I have Seiko 5 model 7009-876A [F] with serial 47429 Please tell me what year and month it is from! thank you
I only know that it was bought from an airport in Libya/Tripoli airport between the years 88'89
July 1974
@@vintagewatchstreet45 i have the same model 7009 876a with 200833. what does that mean? month 0?
That 0 means month 10, so October it was made!

May I ask, what is the 8-digit model number on the caseback? Then I’ll know what decade your model was made in and we can narrow it down. Could be May 77, 87 or 97 or 07 depending on the model you have ….. I’ll await your reply :) …. Lukas
Mine is from April of 1987
Lovely :)
Whay about mine . Its 130068
It depends on your model…. Your model number should be on the back of your Watch… what model do you have?

Do the same rules apply to Lasalle?

Mine the serial number is 003869 what does it mean?

Yes but we need to know the model because then we can know what decade to start with ;) What is you’re model number? It is normally an 8 digit code ….
@@vintagewatchstreet45 6349 520A [A]
@@vintagewatchstreet45 I'm assuming it's 1980's
@@vintagewatchstreet45 what's the value of this watch can you tell me?
In you’re case, the serial number starts with 32, so that’s February 1983 …..
