    I’ll be a freshman at umn in the fall and I got into the marching band and I have a feeling I’ll be pulling quite a few sprits across the campus to try to get to places in time. I only live a few minutes from campus so I’m trying to bring only necessities at first for my dorm to save money as I can always easily run home to get something or have my parents bring it if it’s extremely necessary. Thanks for this video! I agree there’s not enough umn stuff out there...

    Thank you so much for all of the interesting tips and insights that you offered in this video! This is super helpful to incoming freshmen like myself. The tip about looking for apartments for next year as early as September was a great heads-up, especially. It's really great to hear from actual UMN students about campus life, classes, and just overall college experiences. Kinda makes the transition to college a lot less stressful haha. Dropped a like and subscribed! :)

    Best decision I ever made was picking the U.. great education and great place to live.. I was always considered smart but rejected that, first time I realized I can hang with all these ppl, multivariable calc (calc iv, yes that exists) everyone else was struggling too and c was an accomplishment, which I wasn't used to.. that grocery part true, I remember riding bus to target supercenter but I could make it happen for $30.. for the partiers, be aware mn has that 3.2 shit.. advice for any1 going there- enjoy it, work and study your ass off bc thats what you're there for.. but have your college experience too.. the twin cities are beautiful so get out and enjoy it when can

    3:35 I went to school in Israel 🇮🇱 last year. First time in a school not within walking distance from home. I packed WAY too much, to avoid needing to ship later on, as inbound shipping taxes in Israel can be as much as 20%. Turns out my school was on the same street as a fruit market, grocery store, paper goods store, toy store, and a family owned shop with everything from toilet seat covers to kitchenware to blades and saws to notebooks to art supplies to diaries and kids toys to watches and umbrellas. There was even an 🏧 outside the store. I could’ve brought my passport and vaccination card and been fine just buying what I needed when I needed in 5 minutes or less.

    How safe is it at the U in ur opinion? How do you handle that?

    • @clearsky5969
      @clearsky5969 3 роки тому +4

      I graduated 7 years ago so maybe this information is not accurate, but I remember things been safe overall although from time to time you would hear of an armed robbery happening on or near the campus at night. Usually these thieves would rob students at gun point in order to steal their cash, phones, laptops, etc. Most of the robberies seemed to happen past midnight, but I remember a few reports which even happened after 9pm which is kind of scary because there are students who may walk to their residence at that time, such as after a long evening class.
      My advice is to never travel alone at night (anytime past 11pm), travel with friends if you can when it is dark outside, think about implementing a buddy system (to avoid like what happened to David Michael Miller).

    Hi,
    I've applied to Carlson School of Management for undergraduate of fall 2021. I intend to major in Supply Chain and Operations Management. But the problem is I'm not good at maths like algebra, geometry, integration, differentiation etc and i have never done calculus. I dont have mathematics in A Levels. Do the faculty teach everything from the basic?? It's been years that i haven't done maths. Please advice me if i need to prepare from now.
    Thanks in advance 😊

    • @SydneyKeiner
      @SydneyKeiner  3 роки тому +1

      We all needed to take either short calculus or calculus one for starters. After that there’s business statistics, finance, and two accounting classes. I’m definitely not a math person either but the professors teach you everything you need to succeed in the courses. Hope that helps! Here’s the general Carlson curriculum requirements: carlsonschool.umn.edu/degrees/undergraduate/academics/curriculum

      To be clear, I haven't had maths since 8th grade. It's been about 6 years that I'm not doing maths. Would the faculty teach me everything(including prerequisites)so that i can study SHORT CALCULUS or i need to have maths in high school?
      Thanks in advance 😊

    Land Grant institution driven to discover ways to keep Black Minnesotans from enrolling. (unless you play football, basketball like a southern college or university). I know from experience. I was born and raised in MN and passionate about teaching. I applied to the College of Education and Human Development. I graduated with a two-year degree from a MN community college with a 3.95 GPA. I went to community college to save money given the ever increasing tuition at a land grant institution.
    I was told that my transcript wasn't as strong as other applicants. For instance, I'd have to take dinosaur science class and take two years of music. I got an "A" in geology, so I'm not sure about why I needed special classes in the history of dinosaurs. I took two years of music with a focus on piano. I'm not a concert pianist, but can read music and play piano well enough. I'm not sure why I need concert level playing skills given that most MN public schools don't have pianos. My interest is teaching Language Arts/Communication Arts, not music.
    The U of M talks out of both sides of their mouth. They claim they want a diverse and inclusive faculty and student body but then don't want to accept Black Minnesotans into their education program. Totally bogus. It hurts so much that my taxes go to the U of M and can't get accepted into CEHD. Land grant institution driven to discover how to keep Black Minnesotans from enrolling and keeping Wisconsin residents who pay lower tuition than Minnesota residents. Good grief.

      Literally none of what you said has to relate to black students. Stop throwing out the victim card and actually self reflect and realize that you weren’t as good as the others. Learn from that instead of throwing a pity party for yourself because that won’t get you very far.

My major and minors are all in different schools within the university and I find myself having a much easier time in my majors than my major a lot of the time. Overall I would say the university is very middle of the road in terms of difficulty
