  • During my junior year of high school, I took AP Physics which was hands-down the toughest course I took throughout high school. I managed to get an A in the class (by God's grace) but scored a 1 on the AP exam (lol). I literally doodled on my AP exam booklet for however many hours the exam was. Looking back, I think I struggled so much in the course because my fixed mindset. For years I told myself "science" was most worst subject in school; therefore, I thought I would not do well before I even tried. If I were to retake physics in the present day though, I would definitely alter my former study habits and try to get additional tutoring or join study groups more regularly. I realize that I used physics in figure skating whenever I stepped onto the ice. My issue with AP Physics was that although I could memorize formulas, I struggled to apply what I learned to problem sets. In relation to my walk with Jesus, I realize in parallel that it is so easy for me to memorize Bible verses, attend church services, serve, and go through the motions of what is expected of Christian living. But in a similar way, I could score an "A" in the classroom but my good deeds are considered "filthy rags" in the eyes of God. I can never measure up but thanks be to God that His Son Jesus Christ saved me and is sanctifying me. I don't have to rely on my good works to save me. Jesus said "It is finished".
Ice Princess (2005) is a surprisingly great film with a lot of wisdom to be shared for teens navigating the strange waters of high school and early adulthood. You can watch it on Disney+.
