Flooded House Museum | Before and After Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans

  • In New Orleans, a house once taken by Hurricane Katrina has been repurposed into a museum for people to see what the aftermath of the storm would have looked like. Artists reconstructed two rooms into a livable space then “Katrina-fied” them and made them viewable from the outside. In this video taken over several months, I show you the before, during, and after.

That's really disturbing. What you didn't mention, and which I found really unsettling, is that this was a densely packed neighbourhood before and now there are hardly any homes at all. Clearly despite the repairs people didn't want to return to live with the wall looming over them...

This was filmed over several months and was an amazing experience to watch these artists hard at work. I’m very grateful for the opportunity! Check the links in the description for the organization that put this together, and for the artist that’s in the video.

Yeah, I’m sure it’s on peoples minds while living there. But, those walls have certainly been super beefed up. Hopefully something like this won’t happen again.

Honestly the artist downplays the destruction, I’m positive that it was much worst than that. Also you can’t duplicate the smell of the mold and the waste everywhere. But he does do a fantastic job. It something that no one should ever have to go thru. Damn you, Army Corp of Engineers

I shared this video to this page and fully gave you the credit for it. I was in Biloxi on the ms Gulf Coast during Katrina so in most places we more dealt with empty foundations and piles of debris unless you we're going a little further in land or it was a larger structure mainly because we were facing the Gulf of Mexico and it came in like a giant Fist and pulverized everything and then sucked it back out to the gulf it truly looks like an atomic bomb had went off also to this day I can still remember the putrid smell of death which was the worst part and will always be ingrained in our memories of that Dreadful storm and hopefully we never see the likes of again and may all the people that lost their lives including our friends and loved ones in Mississippi and Louisiana rest in peace!

You have been tried by twelve good men and true, not of your peers but as high above you as heaven is of hell, and they have said you are guilty. Time will pass and seasons will come and go. Spring with its wavin' green grass and heaps of sweet-smellin' flowers on every hill and in every dale. Then sultry Summer, with her shimmerin' heat-waves on the baked horizon. And Fall, with her yeller harvest moon and the hills growin' brown and golden under a sinkin' sun. And finally Winter, with its bitin', whinin' wind, and all the land will be mantled with snow. But you won't be here to see any of 'em; not by a damn sight, because it's the order of this court that you be took to the nearest tree and hanged by the neck til you're dead, dead, dead, you olive-colored son of a billy goat!
