I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 at age 32, zero family history, active duty in the military! It’s almost been 4 years since then but I’ve never complained because the Navy took good care of me. I’ve never had to worry about any medical bill, if I wasn’t in the military idk how I would have survived. My situation really sucked but I knew I’d always received the care I needed helped me get through my situation.
You are very fortunate! My dad suffered a neck shattering in the military and the fight to receive care was years and horrible. He was not paralyzed so they didn’t think it was a big deal. I have a not so good view of the VA gaslighting him and told to suck it up. Let them live with a shattered neck.

I had Cancer in 2020 I had to have brachy therapy an internal radiation treatment that is just brutal. I needed 3 treatments they were 18,000 dollars per procedure. Kaiser paid for my treatment. I wouldn't be here if not because of that treatment. I shouldn't be a rare case, the coverage should be the standard for everyone. I am heartbroken by the Healthcare system and how they operate.

You just have to actually make regular content about Disney. What happened with Domonique was truly sad she was a pioneer in the community for making sure more Black women who made Disney content were recognized for their talents. Also, they keep making remakes because they make money, sadly enough that is truly the only reason.

RE: Influencing as a job, 34:58 I don't think the conversation is that influencing is not a job at all, but more so that it is an objectively easier job than literally any other traditional profession. The criticism can also come from influencing (not content creation, but influencing) being seen as a valueless job..because they are just selling stuff. Influencing objectively offers less value to society than, say, a cashier, a teacher, a corporate desk worker, etc. Again, the conversation typically surroundings influencing, not content creation.
I truly like your channel Steph. I think you are very good at commentary and very entertaining. I command you for putting yourself out there. I am sure sharing your stories with the world is not easy. We know it leaves the room open for so many feedback and opinions. However, I know some comments come from a good place. From people who are trying to help and elevate the conversation. If people have been thru a situation similar or before you sometimes they can recognise the sign. If you think you are the only one who often gets back luck, or the only one who sees a situation a certain way, or the only one who has so and so happens to her a certain way. It might be because you are different and sometimes knowing what it is or putting a name on it can help you. Some people learned later in life that they were hypersensitive and it made sense for the entire past behaviour. It could be something else for you, but something that alongs the lines will make sense and help you manoeuvre certain situations or relationships. I understand it's annoying but I am sure it will help you to understand the why and to have someone helping you figuring out. As a lot of us had to have this self discovery in order to move differently. All the best
I didn’t know about Luigi’s mom, I knew about his own spinal surgery though. chronic pain is a debilitating thing to live with, and you can’t receive disability for it. I’m lucky to have a husband who cares for me, but so many ppl struggle everyday to get by in agonizing pain, and insurance refuses to take your pain seriously if it’s invisible. Ugh.
I forgot to mention his pain, because the neuropathy had me shook. He was injured because of a surfing accident. But his mom, how did it get that bad? What happened? How? It's so sad.

Jackie being darker skinned is still underprivileged in this respect. She stands to lose very quickly if people begin to view her as the angry black woman (which is the starting perception the public have of black women, particularly darker skinned black women).
I think UA-cam is going to be a difficult transition for Tiktokers. They'll do well with shorts, but they are going to struggle with UA-cam's bread an butter: Quality, long form. TikTok is a microwave meal to UA-cam's daylong, oven cooked homemade meal. I'm starting my UA-cam in 2025 and the best tip I am going to follow is quality over quantity; especially with the potential tiktokers who are going to come with short not-so quality content. Your'e actually on the safer longevity route as well Steph and that is going to be the key to your growth and staying power, while others fizzle(If they don't get hip to it).

I agree. I am an educator and I am horrified by the sexualization of tween girls but even more the HYPER sexualization of Black tween girls. It is our job to protect them and to keep them out of the eye of predators. Obviously we cannot control predators, but we can keep our girls' bodies private. It's also very unhealthy for a teen girl to think that her hyper-sexualized body gives her power when it is actually oppressive. Given that folks have been coming for Blue since she was born, I wonder why Bey doesn't work to shield her more from the public eye/criticism.

It’s a sad reality but hating on others is much more rewarded behavior than being happy for others’ successes or blessings. Truly friendly competition or cheering each other along is seen as weak and soft when it’s actually harder to train yourself to be genuinely happy for others especially when you are struggling yourself. Jealousy and envy are corrosive to the soul but social media is built on a facade and people burn out as quickly as they become hot. It is an assault on the mind and our sense of self because being “real” is only valuable if it comes in a certain package.
It's interesting how the tea length dresses look so much more youthful than the floor length ballgown. There are a lot of styling details that can change someone's overall look.

I love how the two girls spoke about the Jackie situation. Jackie is a pioneer, I used to heavily watch her videos. However, Jackie seems to have been doing THE most in this situation.
Jackie has been in this online space for close to a decade now and throughout that time, she's had to deal with all sorts of racist/colorist/ misogynistic hate so I understand her being sensitive because you can only tolerate so much. I'm glad they owned up to the part they played in the whole debacle because they were definitely being shady towards her.

There is no doubt that Jackie has experienced unfair treatment, racism, and other hateful or disrespectful comments or engagement. To virtue signal to her audience that these were the ppl to go after was not it. Also, there are comments where ppl even support Jackie, who she blocks. Someone congratulated Jackie on her marriage because they saw a last name change on her SM account, and Jackie blocked them. Jackie is a pioneer and in no way should she tolerate disrespect. She should be protected and I can understand why she may be very sensitive and wants to protect her space. However, these women’s jokes did not stem from hatred. Jackie has every right to not like their jokes because you can’t tell someone how to feel about something that that they’re experiencing, but her framing of the women’s character and intent, was wrong and disingenuous.
@@taylormade9748ok, this was a huge misinterpretation. Jackie never said they were colorist. She mentioned how colorism would affect the social perception of her clapping back at them. Which they themselves acknowledged. At the end of the day I don't think she should have responded at all. Keeping them blocked and moving on would have been the best option because in this situation she has the upper hand and it was punching down. In regards to the whole blocked because of the marriage thing; people weren't just saying congrats and moving on. They we're being backhanded with it by saying things like "oh, glad he FINALLY married you congrats girl" or " thought y'all broke up. Congratulations I guess" and getting mad they got blocked. I block people for every and all reasons and I'm not famous so I don't care if she blocked people for whatever reason lol. She has that right.

I think UA-cam is going to be a difficult transition for Tiktokers. They'll do well with shorts, but they are going to struggle with UA-cam's bread an butter: Quality, long form. TikTok is a microwave meal to UA-cam's daylong, oven cooked homemade meal. I'm starting my UA-cam in 2025 and the best tip I am going to follow is quality over quantity; especially with the potential tiktokers who are going to come with short not-so quality content. Your'e actually on the safer longevity route as well Steph and that is going to be the key to your growth and staying power, while others fizzle(If they don't get hip to it).

I agree. I am an educator and I am horrified by the sexualization of tween girls but even more the HYPER sexualization of Black tween girls. It is our job to protect them and to keep them out of the eye of predators. Obviously we cannot control predators, but we can keep our girls' bodies private. It's also very unhealthy for a teen girl to think that her hyper-sexualized body gives her power when it is actually oppressive. Given that folks have been coming for Blue since she was born, I wonder why Bey doesn't work to shield her more from the public eye/criticism.

It’s a sad reality but hating on others is much more rewarded behavior than being happy for others’ successes or blessings. Truly friendly competition or cheering each other along is seen as weak and soft when it’s actually harder to train yourself to be genuinely happy for others especially when you are struggling yourself. Jealousy and envy are corrosive to the soul but social media is built on a facade and people burn out as quickly as they become hot. It is an assault on the mind and our sense of self because being “real” is only valuable if it comes in a certain package.

I love how the two girls spoke about the Jackie situation. Jackie is a pioneer, I used to heavily watch her videos. However, Jackie seems to have been doing THE most in this situation.
Jackie has been in this online space for close to a decade now and throughout that time, she's had to deal with all sorts of racist/colorist/ misogynistic hate so I understand her being sensitive because you can only tolerate so much. I'm glad they owned up to the part they played in the whole debacle because they were definitely being shady towards her.
@ for Jackie to say that these two particular women were inhibiting colorism was unnecessary and plain wrong. There is no doubt that Jackie has experienced unfair treatment, racism, and other hateful or disrespectful comments or engagement. To virtue signal to her audience that these were the ppl to go after was not it. Also, there are comments where ppl even support Jackie, who she blocks. Someone congratulated Jackie on her marriage because they saw a last name change on her SM account, and Jackie blocked them. Jackie is a pioneer and in no way should she tolerate disrespect. She should be protected and I can understand why she may be very sensitive and wants to protect her space. However, these women’s jokes did not stem from hatred. Jackie has every right to not like their jokes because you can’t tell someone how to feel about something that that they’re experiencing, but her framing of the women’s character and intent, was wrong and disingenuous.
She always does the most. She’s the epitome of throwing rocks and hiding hands.

@@taylormade9748ok, this was a huge misinterpretation. Jackie never said they were colorist. She mentioned how colorism would affect the social perception of her clapping back at them. Which they themselves acknowledged. At the end of the day I don't think she should have responded at all. Keeping them blocked and moving on would have been the best option because in this situation she has the upper hand and it was punching down. In regards to the whole blocked because of the marriage thing; people weren't just saying congrats and moving on. They we're being backhanded with it by saying things like "oh, glad he FINALLY married you congrats girl" or " thought y'all broke up. Congratulations I guess" and getting mad they got blocked. I block people for every and all reasons and I'm not famous so I don't care if she blocked people for whatever reason lol. She has that right.

I actually liked Blue Ivy's dress....but the dress and the makeup made her look WAY to grown. She is 12yo....I personally wouldn't want my daughter styled that way, especially with the Diddys and R. Kelly's walking around here

I don't like to speak on children and what they wear, but in the case of Blue Ivy's dress, the dress is beautiful and she looked gorgeous BUT I think the dress over exposes her cleavage and the makeup and nails would be more suited for an older teenager/adult, rather than a preteen, which is what she is right now. She's still a child, let her be a child and dress like a child. She will have all the time in the world to look and act grown.

Nobody is saying blue didnt look beautiful but for the world we live which seems to be turning on its head more and more each day. The things that were considered inappropriate for a child is being filtered out while still complaining about black women being sexualized from a young age. You cant have both! The Jackie Aina thing was so unserious. I have no dog in the fight but after hearing Astoldbykenya’s breakdown on patreon I was in disbelief this was what people were actually upset about it. I watched the two girls from the Super 5’s video and people can say what they want but those two girls are mean-spirited. They can act like they were over the situation but you can’t convince me they weren’t loving it and weren’t dragging it for the engagement.
