    Awesome video Eric! Been a long minute since you posted, glad to see you back.
    I got into straights, exclusively from your channel. Other channels were not as informative and lacked your charisma.
    Zertone - learned to shave and hone my razor; always have a toothy sharpness to them, requires stropping while shaving to keep the edge up; not to mention their is a "tinny" smell from the razor.
    Gold dollar - its a better shave, then a zertone.
    Dove solingen - WOW! There's no turning back! I suppose, one has to use and experience subpar razors before truly appreciating a fine one.
    Thank you for putting your heart into everything you do, I appreciate it.

    Hey Eric I sent in a comment just a bit ago and I meant to mention ILR I just wanted to say I have one of their 3x8 Premium Hones and absolutely love it I can’t imagine not having that stone for my finish I get superb edges with it it truly is a great finishing stone, I also have one of the 3” limited edition navy/boa strops and buddy let me tell you with 6+ months of use it just gets better and better I had a good strop before I bought this one and now I have an awesome strop, one more thing I want to add concerning Imperia La Roccia they truly are a great company to do business with I’ve spoken with Doug several times he’s truly a good man I won’t hesitate to do business with them the gear they offer is top notch it really is and I can attest to that first hand I really enjoyed the video Doug put together can’t wait to see the next one he does… ok that’s two windy comments I’ve made I’ll stop now, I don’t comment often but when I do I make up for when I don’t Lol Have a Great Day!

    Hi Eric! Thank you so much for putting this video out. As a strop-maker and artisan myself, I enjoyed watching the workshop part - I’ve been working with leather for several months now. And it’s truly an eye-opener to be able to see some of the machines used in ILR’s processes. Definitely gave me some ideas for my own in the future. But otherwise, I’m happy to see you’re still enjoying your shaves and all things straight razor related!;)

    Great video! Really nice to see ILR. I currently have two of their strops and a stone that I got based on your videos and am a huge fan of their products so it's a real treat to see one made and the workshop.
    I got started watching your videos when I was running medical supplies to the Pacific northwest during the lockdown. I pulled into a truckstop for the night and the shelves were bare of anything to shave with accept a strait razor. I watched a quick video on how to use and what proceeded was kind of a train wreck. I finally found your videos and that was the ticket. I learned to shave and about how to care for the gear and got hooked on it. I now own 6 razors and only shave with a strait razor. Obviously I don't want to be in the contest give away as I already have some but I just wanted to say that when it comes to learning about how to shave your videos are the best place for someone to learn and this video is no exception. The products that you have shown on your channel and your recommendations have been excellent high quality, affordable and perfect for shavers at all levels. Thank you so much for your contribution to the shaving community and helping so many of us learn how to shave.

    Hi Eric...I like AIWS because you gave me the confidence to embrace the journey...shaving with a SR! I learned much from watching your channel since 2019 because of the close-up and multi camera. I now have a few SR and although I can't shave with them daily but when I do...I followed your style 80%. I tried to honed like you but the stones I have are not up to standard. I yearned for an ILR stone and strop for a long time but their shipping ia just too high to my place. Anyway, love watching your video, take care, keep safe and please do continue...Happy Thanksgiving!

    Great video, I switched to 1.50 reading glasses to help me shave. That way I don't have to work with the Bi-focal glasses to shave. I came up with this idea while driving a big truck. I am considering buying one of those premium strops... black/green...

    • @AdventuresInWetShaving

      Great question Mansoreaa! ;) May I ask what does your honing progression looks like (i.e. 1k, 3k, 8k, 12k, and stropping)? Let me know and I'll be able to help more.

      @@AdventuresInWetShaving Usually I start 1- norton 1k, ( about 50 circles and 30 stroke)2- norton 4 k same tactic , 3- norton 8k with about 25-30 strokes, 4- finally I finishes with naniwa 12 k , 5- strop by wood with oxide 6- clean leather .

    • @AdventuresInWetShaving
      @AdventuresInWetShaving  2 роки тому +2

      Mansoreaa when you are coming off of your Norton 1K does the edge try to dig into your wet thumbnail from the kneel to the toe (i.e. is the bevel properly set or not)? From your Norton 4k to 8k, and your Naniwa 12k you are trying to remove the scratch pattern from the previous stones. Then when finishing with your Naniwa 12k you can lighten up the pressure. Next, do not do step 5 go straight to the smooth clean leather. Followed by the tree-topping hair test (cutting hair halfway up the hair) or the hanging hair test if your straight razor passes this test you're straight razor is shave-ready. Please let me know how you get along, and let me know if you have any other questions.
      Step 5 would be a great way to prolong your straight razor's edge between honing. Have a good day my friend! :) #Heart

    ?Hello, I got an ILR belt from English leather and I was very upset, it is very stiff, not smooth and not plastic like a regular jeans belt, It cannot even be compared with Japanese belts, What can be done to make it soft and smooth?

    • @AdventuresInWetShaving
      @AdventuresInWetShaving  2 роки тому +1

      Great question Yuri! ;) Your ILR English Bridle strop/belt should have a smooth side of the leather and a suede side, and it should be stiff to keep it flat. You could use something like Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP Leather Conditioner Natural Oil Beeswax Formula to make it softer. I have also used my homemade Razor Wax which will do the same thing. Before every use, I will rub my hand on the strop/belt real good to warm it up as well. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and let me know how you get along.
