- A pretty cool sight during a night flight over the Gulf of Mexico at 45,000 feet in a Citation X. The tops of the thunderstorms were at 38,000 feet. But what about those strange lights in the distance? What could those be!?
Beautiful video!
Thanks Moga!!
Youre correct that they are StarLink, and some other satellites.
The ISS always thros me off, at first; it moves West to East along the 50th parallel, and I'm always confused for a moment when I see it!
Thank you for the verification! Sounds like you are very skilled at viewing the night sky.
John, Not Sure About those Lights, but here in Upstate N.Y. I've seen some real Odd Stuff in the Night Sky! I saw something not too Long Ago that I believe goes beyond Chain Of Pearls Or the Star Links.......
Very cool, Frank! I would definitely be interested in hearing your story. Feel free to leave a comment!
About 2 years ago I was out at night around 9pm . I have a habit of always Looking Up in the Sky day or night. So it's Night time I always go out at That time to Lock up the Garage and I looked up in the North East sky and see this shape, Like A Triangle of an Immense amount of lights like A Christmas tree full of LED's..... way way up like Satellite altitude.......and Just whisped across the Sky
@frankb518 WOW!! That must have been incredible to see! Amazing. I haven’t seen anything like THAT before!
We saw the same lights in the Canary island.., sometimes 3 lights
Pretty cool!
That was amazing impressive light show, reminds us how small we really are.
Thank you!!
Wow cool, I wondered if it could be ball lightning maybe caused by a sprite? But I’ve just googled it and doesn’t seem possible. If you were lucky enough to glimpse a UFO then that’s awesome. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! The fact that I’ve seen them multiple times make me think that they are satellites. Someone just commented saying that it may be low earth orbit, satellites that are slowly rotating so they appear and disappear. Also, he’s suggested that the bright lights might be attributed to thrusters that they used to stay in orbit.
I would bet they are starlink satellites. I see them a lot between Hawaiian islands and the west coast of US late at night
I think you’re right!
Nice catch
Thanks!
Aliens from another universe. Definitely aliens. 😂
😂 oh yeah. DEFINITELY aliens!! 👽
You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!
Yes!!! I had the exact same thought. Ha ha!
I think it’s the twilight zone brother
Ha ha! It must be!
I’ve seen those lights all the time. The best I can reckon it’s low orbit SpaceX satellites that succumb to gravity, which needs to burn frequently to readjust orbit. I believe the thrusters are what we see.
Oh, that’s awesome. That actually makes complete sense! Especially since they appear and fade away periodically.
What happens when the thrusters run out of fuel? Low earth orbiting satellites (typically) don't require fuel to stay in orbit. Not to mention, their movement is not consistent like low earth orbiting satellites would be. Please forgive my lack of knowledge, I actually want to know how this would be possible on a long term basis?
