A review of the 1997 Master Grade RX-78GP01-Fb Gundam "Zephyranthes" Full Burnern from the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory.
Why do I always say "Stardust Memories?" lol Seen the series twice and still mess it up. Eh~ Sounds cooler anyway lol
Yo~ sorry for the wait on this one, but had to do all those re-uploads. Anyway, nice to make a new review, even if the kit is super old. Something tells me a 2.0 is on the way, and this video will be outdated in 2 years (like the Alex review) but whatever~ I just enjoy making videos.
- Production notes -
- This was a HUGE review. Probably the largest to date focusing on a single suit.
- The script was massive. A lot of it was the painting guide. Usually my scripts are 7 pages, this one was about 10.
- This led to a very long audio track. It was originally about 15 minutes. I managed to cut it down and speed it up by removing dead air in between sentences to get it down to 12 minutes. But then it felt way too fast afterwards, so I added some dead air back in, so it'd flow better.
- I couldn't get this suit to look right on video. I don't get it. It just looked cheap, or high contrast or something. I ended up lowering the contrast on all the stills. But then it was too dry, so I cranked it back up. Not super happy with how it turned out. Think it might just be the cheap color of the plastic. Maybe the greenish hue of the white?
- The title card was really annoying on this one. Again, I couldn't get this suit to look right, so went through a lot of trial and error before I just said "whatever~" and went with the moon base in the back ground and slapped on a ton of the "oil paint" filter in photoshop. It was lazy, but eh~
- I finally did a split screen. It was fun to get working, but I've already noticed some flaws in how I did it. Mainly with the feathering. Need to get on that, cause split screens could be very useful tools.
- Other than that, it was just a longer version of the usual review. I suppose it could've been worse, but considering I just got off making like 10+ re-upload versions of previous videos, I was already warmed up and ready to tackle this one.
Next review is either gonna be an 'updated' Wing Gundam or the MK II 'full redux.' Hoping to have it uploaded by Friday, but we'll see. My account has been hit hard by the loss of views from un-listing older videos, so might just want to let this channel sit for another little while and cool down.
Anyway, here's some of the sick jams I had on while working on this. Btw, "One of these things is not like the other~" lol

Fun fact: this mg appears on linkin park video clip..somewhere i belong..along with sazabi and wing zero
Yeah, I've seen that black and white HG variant of the GP01FB. What a weird tie in.
I remember seeing that as a kid
memories be hittin' pretty good now
whoa you weren't kidding it's basically a gundam music video almost
which song
For a guy that reviews so many older kites and loves anime accuracy, I'm really surprised you haven't reviewed the 2000 Nu Gundam . The best version of the Nu Gundam for anime accuracy.
I'll just wait another decade for a Ver ka/ 2.0
Iknowright
There’s always the RG.
@@gomine5971 The connection to the core fighter is pretty loose. And it has that early real grade syndrome, the pre assembled frame can get pretty weak over time.
When I saw the thumbnail screen shot I thought this kit looks great especially for a kit this old. But then I watched the amount of work you put into this kit. Wow, you made this kit great.
Glad to hear that
Thanks a lot for the review. It sure has a lot of painting but thanks to you I can start building mine. Thanks for the tips my friend
Same here. Pick this kit up couple years ago! I am encouraged by the look of the Gundam in the review so I might start building mine soon!
Nice look on the FB. This was my 1st kit. I love this kit. It really shows how passionate the designers of the kit were. The direction of MGs during this time was really evident. Gimmicks :D
Woo. I bought this in 2000 and finally finished it this year lol So glad you reviewed this!
I personally glued his chest, backpack So no more taking it apart for the Core fighter because my unit kept splitting apart.
I really want a 2.0 of these.
Itle probs be RE 100
@@jjuan4382 I don't think so because it is a lead MS and the RE line is mostly for the obscure suits that most don't even know of or just not for the taste of the general consensus.
If they came out with a 2.0 version of the GP01 and GP02, then I would definitely buy them. I remember owning the 12 inch action figure of the GP01FB as a kid, and I fucking loved it
@@Knightfall-Batman I don't know why they slack on giving us what we want. Maybe instead of 2 million recolors for p bandai they could do this, and the ground gundam. The frames could be used for other kits too

Nice review, hope we get a 2.0 for this kit in the future.
Everybody is talking about MG Dynames.
But I like these old school MG to talk about it!
Thanks for the review 😊
Keep reviewing these old school kits, my man. They are both nostalgic and a good reminder of how much better we have it nowadays.
Great review!! Id love to see you review either the hizack or the qubeley, old zeta mg dont have enought love
Dude! Your audio quality is killer now! Props for that!
Thanks! Tried a lot of new things in this one.
I just bought the perfect grade version of this kit, I can't wait to start building it
I just bought this kit today and just saw your vid. Excited to scribe and paint this kit 👍
Amazing review ^^
A trick I've found usefull when painting the v logo on the chest was to use a toothpick dipped in yellow paint and slowly drop the paint on the v fin by rubbing it
I find the kits even better when u have to put mo work into it to make it shine and make it ur own .
That ball joint in the upper arm is a little strange but I like the idea of it. I gives the arm a swivel while also making it harder to just pull out of place while posing. Maybe I have no idea what I'm taking about but that seems like a pretty rad design. Can anyone fill me in on why they don't do that now?
@redheadphones6 hahah i remember when this kit came out, built it when i was a kid and ended up not really liking it because of its clown like feet and poor weight distribution. the corefighter was also clunky but the rest of the MS is nice. good review sir.
Great review. Need to watch the anime now.😁
I've recently started my MG line and I'm collecting main gundams. I just built ez 8. Wasn't the best I've built so far but I enjoyed it. Gonna give this a try since it's on my list of missing gundams
You were kinder to this kit than I wouldve been. TBF most of my kits are less than 10 years old, so i dont have a lot of reference for kits this old. But man, when I picked this up middle of last year in place of an RX-78-2 MG I really, REALLY regretted it because the build and end result were WAY worse than I expected. I finished the build, looked at him and his awful clown shoes, put him in the box and havent opened it since lmao
I got the pg and that pg is old, it’s my first pg too, and I like how Teo gundams are in ( the gp01 without it’s extra armor and the fb version)
changing the shoulder joints and working on the moving hands would do this kit the best blast from the past , specially if it's already a lost treasure
Love this kit. With a bit of work, as u say, he looks great. For an old kit, he's one of the best. Do the same with the Kampfer and he too is fine.
Saw this on sale at a local shop and I really thought about whether I should but it or not since I also had a GM Custom. But when I saw how much work you had to do I decided it wasn't worth it haha.
How about a review on the old Strike or Freedom MGs? Interested to know your thoughts about them, and you haven't reviewed Cosmic Era suits yet!
I have a feeling we will get a ver ka of all of the GP0’s
still waiting 2.0 for this kit in 2020
This is my 1st gundam
Just a little question : since this kit is quite old, does it come with the little tail piece on the low back of the waist unit to put it on an action base ? Thank you very much !
Unfortunately not, sorry. You'll have to use one of those 4-pronged forks that come with Action Base 1 to get him in the air.
You should definetly review the mg gpo2a
its not a great kit.
can you review the mg zaku i & mg gm sniper (from 08th ms team) thanks
I used to have the 1:160 scale no grade of this kit and unfortunately it had an accident where it fell off the back of my entertainment center and broke the Thruster pack joint
Can you please review the MG zaku I because I can’t find a good review, thanks
Have you tried the victory gundam yet?
Surprised this didn’t come with a jitte on the beam rifle
this looks like one id only build out of curiosity
You'll probably never see a 2.0 of some of the early kits, because the animes they come from are ones that don't rate a lot of attention. I consider the NT-1 Alex's 2.0 more of a fluke than anything. And I've built all the GDP gundams that have come out in Master Grade (as well as two PG GP-01s), the GP-01fb being one of my most favorite Gundams, with the GP-04G next, then the Alex, RX-93 Nu and Hi-Nu, Dendrobium (I'd love one in Master Grade scale), and so-on (Too many to list here).
This is true, you can't expect to get a new kit / master grade from any OVA series except endless waltz because of how low the shows rating and little demand. 90's Gundam iterations suffer the most
Nice review ! Keep it up 👌😂👌
Ever think of building the perfect gundam or the G3 2.0 Gundam ?
Brently Bennett G3 is the essentially the same as the G2 with a new colour scheme.
Weird to think this kit is the same age as I am :D
Can you do MG Wing Zero Custom?
Still think it's better than some 1999 mgs, I'm looking at you mg alex 1.0
Blame Katoki on the redesigs. I'm kinda happy when was ousted doing MG linearts when the 2.0s came to being.
Those feet would make Sideshow Bob proud.
Ill be buying this for one and only one reason
It was in the music video of linkin park somewhere i belong
Those knees honestly look like the Stamen version.

Also someone else who values Anime Accuracy 👍
Hey can you review the mg gelgoog ver 2.0 ?
That kit looks so good! Can never have enough 2.0's lol.
I'm gonna do a poll for the next kit, and I'll definitely put it on there.
@@redheadphones6 It's frame is one of the better 2.0 imo
do you review pg kits too?
No
Maybe if I could afford them lol
That knee rectangle is on the gp01 master grade that this kit is based off, I guess the engineers at bandai were being lazy and just decided to keep the exact same armor from the gp01.
I was thinking that too, but it's on the HG, RG and even the PG. Then I started noticing it on the suit in some video games and promotional material. Eh, it's not a big deal, but once I noticed it can't not-notice it lol
I can only say the worst thing on this kit for me is that the yellow vents are loose
Well on mine it is
Just saying but, should we have a MG Moon Gundam?
no
Dr. Groo Hey man, I was just saying.
a҉s҉t҉r҉a҉y҉ i am myself not sure why i said that
Dr. Groo Eh, that’s you.
I would is hg revive GP01 where it change to FB like pg
BANDAI. 2.0. NOW.
Did you change name?
Nah, still Redheadphones6 everywhere, Instagram included. Why do ask?
8:33 you said gimmicks on the articulation
Lol lmao amiright
... part of me feels the need to take this down, fix it, and re-upload now lol
@@redheadphones6 all those views wasted
Can you do review of mg exia?
Please do the MG Zeta ver 1 :D
you can actually buy the pg one
If you're down to spend an extra $100 lol
Great review. However, I have to call you out on your criticim of the legs. You were complaining about their lack of detail, then immediately knocked the kit for having different knee armor. It's still a sweet kit. Definitely needs a 2.0, though. I got the ground version back in the day, and it's totally showing its age. Thanks for posting this video!
set side by side with the animation model, the master grade looks really wrong, the chest especially, it looks too small and blocky
Get the perfect grade of this model. You will get so much more details and a lot of the swaps actually become mechanism.
there's something about the look of this kit that really bothers me, and it's the t-rex arms. My goodness were they ever short. I'm not looking forward to building mine at all hahaha
This kit almost made me stop building gunplay in general
*gunplay
