Simurgh is a worker placement that stands out for me duo to it's very mathematical board, each time you place a worker you have to also pay to receive something. Also it is insanely beautiful.
I totally agree with wayfarers and viticulture (which should be Higher on the list). Here are my top 5 1 wayfarers of the south Tigris 2 viticulture 3 rats of wistar 4 rajas of the ganges 5 Raiders of the northsea
I am a very recent fan of hobby board games, but from what little I've experienced and studied for my own, I feel like worker placement might be my favorite game mechanic. It just feels so iconically "board game" to be placing some meeples on a spot to generate resources. I can't say for sure it is because I've played so few games as a whole, but I'd really like to play more of them and I feel like it gives me a direction of what games I should check out. I've played Lords of Waterdeep via the digital app so I can practice against AI and I really enjoy that game a lot, I really hope to sit down and play the physical game against other players at some point. Obviously since I've played so few games I can't really have much of "favorites", but some of the worker placement games I'm most interested in experimenting with and learning more about are A Feast for Odin, Caverna, Everdell, Champions of Midgard, and Tiny Epic Western (which I can play solo, but still).
My top 5 Worker Placement games of all time are: 5. Paladins of the West Kingdom 4. Village 3. Architects of the West Kingdom 2. Raiders of the North Sea 1. Champions of Midgard Go Dodgers! 😊
Targi Is my favourite game for two players after wir sind das Volk so also for me it's one the best working placement game.. nice top ten but I'm surprised that there aren't caylus, village and keyflower in this top ten. Btw great top ten!
I don't have an order but the ones that hit the table the most are Lords of Waterdeep, Manhattan Project: Energy Empire, Yedo, Viticulture, Champions of Midgard and Abomination.
Worker placement games are a category that I want to love, but I haven't found one that I really like. Though after hearing about The Prodigals Club, that might change. I need to see if my local board game cafe has a copy. Shout out Hexagon Alley!
Mine would have to be: 10. Targi 9. Agricola 8. Raiders of the North Sea 7. Shipwrights of the North Sea (Redux) 6. Architects of the West Kingdom 5. Hallertau 4. Viticulture 3. Wayfarers of the South Tigris 2. A Feast for Odin 1. Paladins of the West Kingdom Playing Tzolk'in soon, so we'll see where that lands! (And yes, I like Garphill Games)
Underwater Cities for me is # 1 as it’s my favorite game. The rest are in no particular order. Underwater Cities Dune: Imperium Uprising Robinson Crusoe lorenzo hallertau vindication Honey Buzz Expeditions Paladins Wayfairers
