Hell, a government contractor with ALL of our personal data was just hacked. So, in spite of doing everything right, we are still vulnerable due to government incompetence. Organization that have our data, and don't do everything possible to protect that data (like encryption of data at rest) should be held liable. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we are well beyond the age where the vast majority of identity thefts are the direct fault of the victim.
Unfortunately a lot of the time your information is stolen from a "trustworthy" 3rd party. Or like in my case, stolen information from an organization.

Ok, here's the problem - because of the most recent breach, I am trying to freeze my accounts through all 3 credit bureaus. - 2 of them were easy enough, but the 3rd one requires me to type the "pass-code" they text me before I can freeze. - So the problem is I never got it. (Yes, I clicked "re-send.") I realize LOTS of people are trying to freeze their credit right now, but what good is it to freeze only 2 accounts, when the 3rd one won't let me?
I got the pass code ,after a month in the mail , I still cant open an online account , to save time... They told me I need to send a photo copy of my DL SS card to their physical address ,since my cell phone lacked data,,and they wouldn't let me freeze or set up account on my desk top, ...the FTC really need to look into this 3rd company....The 2 were easy by following the directions online,, I received email code ,and a welcome letter in the mail,and easy to open online accounts to monitor my credit etc. The 3rd company just left me twisting in the wind still,,hopefully sending the info by USPS may work,,how long thats going to take who knows.
When signing up with these bureaus, two of three ask for the last 4digits of ssn, but Equifax asks for the whole thing. Didn’t they get breached a while back? Isn’t that worrisome that they ask for the full ssn when the other two ask for the last4?
You've likely already been breached at this point. Your SSN is likely floating in the dark web somewhere right now. Putting your SSN into the site isn't going to cause you even more issues. The important thing is to freeze your credit.
The whole Credit industry is in shambles since the dark web cannot be encrypted out in all cases ,,unless high tech finds a way to lock out sensitive info from criminals ,its going to devolve into economic uncertainties in the future..Its got to be more than pass codes ,pins ,captchas ,AI bots, etc. Classified info should be in physical vaults in court house, and Federal agencies only, and not flying around in cyber space , with risky clouds and hacking miners going around the clock worldwide....

I was searching and came across with this video....Not sure if you'll see this comment but I was able to submit 3 complaints to ID Theft, however I can't get any more verification codes and I've Tried several different numbers but lucky me my cousin recommended *GLAVISTECHZ* he’s a professional tech guru. He was able to delete it. I suggest you send him a request if he can be of help.
This is all wrong.... provide name, date of birth and address... thats it... remove all previous information linked on your credit report... all old addresses... employment details... old phone numbers... if they fail to comply you can sue for $2500 in a small claims court after 45 days...
That may be, but I think he kept the value in his video intact and short because the true value of what he's sharing is the why, the how, when and where, with viewers. No need for step by step handholding when the rest of the process is pretty straightforward and he is presuming that viewers are competent enough to do a few quick Google searches and do the rest of the clickity-clack, tappity-taps, or make calls to get it done.

I freeze my credit because some one work with my SS. After IRS came after me for $12,000.00 do taxes 7 years a go.

For a credit freeze, you need to do all three. For a credit alert, you only need to contact one of the three.
