I'm no expert, but you can simply turn all your investments into cash like into a money market account. A small part of my IRAs are in such a vehicle. The thing is that you shouldn't panic like that; it's never good to run from a crash if you are talking about that being a downturn in the market. The best thing to do is to ride out the downs along with the ups; it's a proven long term strategy. If you mean a real crash, well, we're all screwed unless we see it coming in time to make the transfers before most people realize it. After it starts happening it's too late.
You can't take the money out of the IRA without incurring taxes and potential penalties but you can shift assets to safer investments like a money market fund within the IRA. As another commenter says that's not wise generally. You should consult a fee only financial planner.
If the markets crash and the economy tanks, it won't matter how much paper money or gold you have. Hopefully, you live in the country with a very well stocked pantry and hidden stores, plenty of ammo on a farm in the middle of nowhere and prepared to live like it's 1820. No electricity, no flush toilets, no central air, bartering for everything and living very minimally without a car. Do you know how to ride a horse?
@@kevinjarchow8812 It won't be pretty, that's for sure. I can ride and care for a horse and have a small vegetable garden on 5 wooded acres in the country where I can trade for horse feed and forage. I know how to can and preserve some things, but I have no rifle and ammo to hunt anything more than squirrel, rabbit, dove, turkey and coyote. At age 72, I'm not really going to worry too much about this low possibility.
FYI I had my ss number used to make work in greater New York. I was never there. FBI informed me that it was being used and I had no impact on my credit rating, tax status or anything. Agent said it was probably just someone who just used the numbers as any guess of numbers in order to work. He said it was unlikely that they would ever find the person. All I know is my name was not used , my social security number was used, and the person was white. (Not that means anything). Agent said European students often overstay their visas ( illegal aliens) and just pick a number out of the sky. Anyway all bs aside it was nothing to fear. Be good!
Why are people waiting years to collect 10% more when you can have more fun with $ at 55 or 62 ? There is a reason you get more $ waiting. You die a lot sooner. I would rather be able to buy a $50,000 car verse $50,000 wheelchair because I can't drive.
😳 Clearly, you don't know much about money. Most people who are investing aren't doing it to make 10% on their investments. But to create wealth and a secured source of income after retirement. More likely, they have enough money to live a good and conformable life now, but at the same time, they're preparing for when they call it quits. It is all about the mentality of the poor against the rich. I totally get your comment tho and by the way, I LMAO when I read it. That's exactly the way I used to think about money when I didn't know better.

Hi, everyone. I have a question. How to alert state government that you are a victim of identity theft. So if someone file a unemployment. It's would be denied right away?
My mother is using my social security number to create credit accounts in my name😔

Can I turn my IRAs into cash if the markets start to crash? I’m not 59.5 yet or taxes get me .
@@virginiamoss7045 At least you have skills to survive. Most don't. Ammo is so that you can keep what you have.
Be good!
I gave my ex my social security number to help me with my my cash app now she treated me to do stuff
Why are people waiting years to collect 10% more when you can have more fun with $ at 55 or 62 ? There is a reason you get more $ waiting. You die a lot sooner. I would rather be able to buy a $50,000 car verse $50,000 wheelchair because I can't drive.
😳
Clearly, you don't know much about money.
You look a lot like Robert Sean Leonard (Wilson from House MD). Or he looks a lot like you. Maybe you could steal his identity. 😉
You are leaving out all the many hacks of insurance companies, credit companies, etc where millions of peoples info has been stolen.
I want my social security card back and my ID not playing
No cCitbank s asked for my social security numbers to appl online
