      Don't buy it to be a stereotypical influencer-bro who drives it like a race car 24/7. Go get a g35 or something if that's your personality. @@johncena6701

      Also, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford to operate one. Common issues at 100,000 miles are general wear/tear shyt like water pump, valve cover, some coolant hoses and trans fluid. Change the oil every 3-5k. If you have no money or can't do that basic stuff on your own, a Camry should be the only thing on your list tbh. If you're under 21, buy something else. There's enough dummies buying these cars and abusing them to make us look bad.
      But if you're willing to get invested in your car, take care of it, and plan ahead with common sense, you're going to be happy on every drive you take. It's the type of car that will have you doing random 3pm drives in a canyon somewhere just because. @@johncena6701

    Aesthetics is very high in the minds of people who buy this car. I am one and it will be arriving at the end of the month. The 3 series is more practical, but this one looks so much better and is more exclusive.

    It amazes me that BMW has managed to be the luxury bestsellers for 9 years straight, yet you both (esp Roman) find a laundry list of problems on EVERY BMW you test. What's next? The blue in their logo is too bright on the steering wheel? The door handles aren't wide enough? We get it, you like Audi!

    A 3 series is the same but more practical? Whoa what a revelation. Even better buy the Station version. LIKE WHAT THE FUCK. YOU ARE REVIEWING A COUPE AND PEOPLE WHO BUY COUPES WANT COUPES MOST OF ALL BECAUSE OF HOW THEY LOOK. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THE SCHOOL RUN YOU BUY THE FUCKING STATION.

They don't give a rat's A about the backseat, they don't care how big or small it is, they don't care about how many kids are, or are not going to fit in the backseat, because they want a Coupe! Why ramble on about a non issue ?

    2 reasons to consider the 435 xDrive Coupe:
    1. Manual transmission is an option... and it's a good one! Need I say more.
    2. Tuning, BMW dealers can install a Dinan tune good for 360 hp / 390 ft-lb or torque. Those are serious gains, and you can really feel the difference.

    Well, Nathan, I just went from an S5 to a 435i Gran Coupe, and IMO, the 435i is a superior overall vehicle. The 435i is incredibly lithe, agile, and always feels like it wants to play. The S5 is heavy, cumbersome while powerful and able. Yes, the S5 is a bit more stable in certain situations, but the 435i has a feel about its chassis that is incredibly balanced. The S5 is a linebacker where the S5 is a running back. Fitted with the anthracite wood I have in my car, the interiors are essentially a draw.

      The s5 has leather that goes to shit at like 100k km like most audis. Also it scratches very easy and im use to soft leathers but that leath is just another level of fragile. Tech wise 435 is wayyy better. The seats look cooler though in the s5. Paint quality is better on the 435i. Cheap vw parts shine through on the s5. The s5 is def a bit quicker than 435 xdrive when u put em side by side for a drag race but the 435 is overall more balanced and fun to drive imo. Overall the 435 is better car.

    One of the only BMWs I would buy. I really hate how expensive these kind of cars can get. Germans just love to give you those packages. And some back ages have half the stuff you want and another package has the rest of the things you want. Mercedes does this with their safety equipment.

    Audi interior is way dated, including its small screen hidden in the dashboard. It is a 8 year old 2008 design, oppose to BMW stylish, open, clear and functional. I didn't understand your point with this comparison. Also the media is so stuck in the past, I loved the way they did filling the 4 series slot with the Coupe, having the odd numbers with the sedans. It has a reason behind this reorg in the lineup and it is easy to correlate with the models sizes and styles. At least for me and the majority of the car enthusiasts it is easy...when you guys review the cars with a manufacturer employee it looks like you are advertising the car. When you are alone or with Nathan all the cars have problems and are worthless. Please decide how do you want to position your channel and be honest even if you have the engineer in front of you or seating in the passenger seat.

    I'm pretty sure that you guys don't understand this car. The 4 series replaces the 3 series coupe. Now, the 3 series is only offered in sedan form. BMW is now making all of their odd numbered series of vehicles only sedans. The even numbered series cars are replacing the coupes of the odd numbered series.
    Ex: The 2 series replaces the 1 series coupe; the 1 series is now only offered in hatchback form. 4 series replaces the 3 series coupe. 6 series technically has always been a coupe/convertible version of the 5 series anyway (except for GranCoupe)

    I dont get the part of this vid when you guys say what's the point (of the 4 series). I think the 4 is long over due because there are more differences between the previous 3 sedan and coupe than just two additional doors.. My reasons, if I'm not mistaken are the following:
    -Coupe is a different chassis (though slightly)
    -All or most of the coupe exterior panels/parts are different
    -The release dates of the sedan and coupe aren't the same
    -You cannot get lame engines in a coupe. I think that off the bat sets apart status. You can have a 335i but someone in a 320i looks almost as cool as you. There's no 420i. Anyone in a four series has a pretty decent engine at least.
    -Coupe comes with better base options, higher cost. (same point as above)
    -Coupe sport package is lower and bigger wheels.
    When I see an e90 vs e92 they don't feel like the same car to me. When you look at the 5 and 6 series, they are so different I wouldn't consider calling them a 5 sedan and a 5 coupe. They deserve their own classification.
    Hands down the evened number cars are cooler and look better. I would take a 2,4,6 any day.

    It is so nice to be able to buy a RWD 6 speed manual sports car with some luxury touches. Try that with Audi (front wheel drive VW with added AWD) or Mercedes (no manual transmission, period). Face it, BMW is the driver's car. Add no cost maintenance for four years or 50k miles, can't beat it. Trust me I've spent about 30 hours the last two weeks trying...

    Considering that the 4 series is an all new car and model range for bmw and the current s5 is getting a bit long in the tooth, it's interesting to note that the presenters would still prefer the older s5 to the new 4 series coupe. I think it's a testament to just how timeless some audi models, like the s5, are. Moreover, audi is likely to come out with a new s5, either at some point this year or next, that will likely trammel on this 4 series in ever facet.

    In my opinion, the 4 series is a little too round looking. The taillights look kind of awkward because they're so bubbly and the front end has an outward slant to it. I just prefer the look of the 3 series. I have the f30 335i msport xdrive in estoril blue and the sharper lines of it are better than the 4 series in my opinion. Plus, i don't know why they couldn't just stick to "3 series coupe"

    Damn for 65K, I'd be in a CTS-V. 2 more doors & gobs more power. This 4 series has no point of existing. If people need more room out of a 3 series, that's what the 4 door version or 5 series is for.

    • @yuming97
      @yuming97 10 років тому +13

      CTS has "more power" but less performance. This 4 series is simply a 3 series coupe, the name has no meaning but it certainly deserves to exist. CTS also doesn't come standard with the same options as a $65k 435 with AWD.

      An E550 comes in at the same price as the 435, giving yet another reason to wonder, "who is buying these cars?" The E550 has more power, is unarguably better when it comes to luxury, and in a lot of peoples view a better car to look at.

    • @yuming97
      @yuming97 10 років тому +2

      socialismcanwork
      The E550 has more power in terms of raw HP and torque figures, but its gearbox is not nearly as nice as the 435i's 8-Speed. STEPTRONIC has really stepped up its game and you get really nice smooth shifts from both the N20 and N55 engines. The 0-100km speed from the E550 is around 5.2, which is considerably less than the 435i. Of course, you cannot compare the two since they are of two different classes. You also cannot conclusively say that the E550 is a better car to look at; that is a consumer preference. While and Daimler will give you luxury, you can't beat the price for raw performance. Though I will admit that there is no point to a 2 door 3 series (the 4 series) when you can have the same thing for less in a 335i.

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar 10 років тому

      Mingran Yu we're coming full circle back to my original point that there is no legit purpose for this car to exist, let alone at that price. If I wanted a fast 2 door BMW for 65K, I'd buy a fully loaded 335i which would also give me the option and practicality of 2 extra doors.
      If I needed more room than the 4 door 335i and still wanted to be in a BMW, I could get the 550i or 535i.
      It's the same scenario BMW has with the M235i. Why??

    • @johan21678
      @johan21678 10 років тому +6

      You forget one important thing. American cars are only cheap in America. CTS-V cost like a M5/RS6/E63 in Europe. This car cost like half of this. So for your markets I agree with you. But for the rest of the world, I don't. Just like a Corvette C7, a very affordable sports car in the U.S., but in Europe it costs like a Porsche 911, but the build quality, finish and interior is certainly not on par with the 911. Power on the other hand ...: D

      3 series is sedan. 4 series is suppose to fill the 2 door section.
      What I DON'T understand why BMW made was the 4 series Gran Coupe. It's the 4 door version... of the 4 series.... except wait. That's what the 3 series is suppose to be. I don't get BMW anymore.

      It looks a little different from the 3 series today I seen them both at a BMW dealership and I asked the salesman why would I buy 435i when I can have a 335i coupe ? It comes with the Twin Power engine like the 335i but the 435i it's about 2 inches bigger I still don't understand why would I buy the 435i over 335i coupe,

    • @OscarCastillo1
      @OscarCastillo1 10 років тому

      If you want a 335i coupe you'll have to buy a 2013. 2014 and up, it's only the 4 series. The BMW line is too crowded now.

      Exactly that, pull to + and push to - is the right way round. It's to do with how the driver and forces play with each other. I guess other manufacturers like to cater to the 80% of laymen who think that push to + means that they push the car to go faster or some nonsense like that.

      I want to know this too. I've seen this in a few videos, mostly with M3 cars. What's up with the animated mode and is it even legal -- looks like a police car coming up from behind.

    • @englishman3903
      @englishman3903 9 років тому +1

      +Mouti b It's not a "feature" of the car. Its because the shutter speed on the camera they're using can't record the constant light output of the light so it looks like its flickering, much the same as when a helicopter rotor is recorded it looks like its moving slowly etc.

    • @kmorness
      @kmorness 9 років тому

      +English Man
      Can you explain 5:55 then? It's not flickering there... I would assume they are using the same camera? It's almost the same shot. Although upon closer look,it seems choppier at 5:20 -- and they are recording from another vehicle, so maybe it's cellphone footage at lower FPS.

    The age of light cars is gone! So many automotive journalist complain about weight in a car but they love all the luxury options which is the is the reason for weight. Not to mention superior NVH, 20 airbags, a wiring harness that would make an electrician go crazy, a slew of other electronic aids and a better built all around vehicle then say 10-15 years ago. If they built a 2500 coupe then they would complain about the bare bones cabin and lack of features

    I noticed that someone else commented on this, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts. The Fast Lane - has certainly lost some of my respect, and to be honest, you guys should ashamed of the incorrect information shared regarding the naming conventions of BMW's and which platforms are aligned. If you guys had any credibility at all, you would either pull the video, or at the very least own up to your mistakes. The 3 and 4 series share the same platform - NOT 4 and 5! All of the original platforms remain, the only difference is the number of doors, with the exception of the grand coupe, which is really a 4 door car with two doors. The 5 series is a 4 door as it always has been, and the 6 series is the two door version of the 5 series. The 3 series is now the 4 door model and any 3 series with two doors is now a 4 series. Get it? Good. Fix your video.

    5.8 sec with for Inline-6 -- it's awesome even at 5000 ft above sea level. At launch control, Nathan got it close to 7000 RPM, and 5.5 seconds.
    Also, agree with the pricing, BMW really dings you on the options, so be careful if you're searching for a Beamer.
    Hopefully, you'll get to test the M4 coming next model year.

    • @Nickyb801
      @Nickyb801 10 років тому

      BMW will probably revoke their testing rights because they don't understand the new naming convention. The 4 series is not the same as the 5 series. The 4 series is a 3 series with two doors. Jackasses. If they expect to be taken seriously, they should do the most basic of research.
      More to your topic, I would love to see some more videos of the M4.

  • @BrandonDmv
    @BrandonDmv 10 років тому

    The reason BMW built the 4 series is to replace the 3 series coupes since they are no longer being built. the 3 series is now meant to be a family saloon car and the 4 series is meant to be the sports coupe now. that's why the Germans decided to build this car. personally i would prefer the rwd version with an available option for the v8 and also the only reason that particular interior looks somewhat cheap is because that particular one actually is. it's not optioned out it has the cheap blue trim you have many other interior options to make it feel more expensive and classy however the interior of the audi s5 does go above and beyond in luxury it is an incredible interior however the s5 interior is not as customizable as the 4 series and i find that to be somewhat frustrating for the amount of money that you're paying for it.

    I don't understand why so many people complains about BMW performance/price. Why do you think people would buy a Ferrari over a Corvette? Because they can and more importantly, a Ferrari is much more appealing to them then a Corvette (same principle apply to your wife or girlfriend, look come first, everything else is a bonus). Anyway, you are not very bright if you willing to pay MSRP for a mass production car. Just got my 435 X-Drive for $56,410 (MSRP $64,410) in Portland, Oregon. Look for dealers with a lot of 4 Series in stock and they willing to do anything to sell it to you. Yes, I know there are many cars that are cheaper and faster, but normal people don't buy cars so that they can do 0-60 mph on the street. Test drive a 435 and other coupes and you will get all the answers you'll need. So watch the video for what is it and stop complaining.
