I drove both when they came out, the 6cyc ATS vs the 435i, and they drive almost the same. The 435i looks better, although I like the ATS coupe as well, but the Caddy's interior looks better, although I like the BMW interior as well - it's just very conservative. However the reason I bought a 4-series over the ATS at the time was the then God awful CUE infotainment system, it was so slow and so unresponsive, it was infuriating to use. If you get a 2016 or new ATS, they, I believe, all accept CarPlay or Android Auto, which means you don't have to really deal with that super slow CUE garbage, at least not most of the time, so that's the model to get. For BMW, their infotainment setup is worlds better, but you have to go to 2017 or newer to get the CarPlay or Android Auto update. But for driving, GM literally used a 3-series as the benchmark for the ATS, and modeled the driving after BMW, and it shows, since they handle so similarly. Well, that is IF you have the sport suspension on the BMW, without that, it's kind of boring to drive and not very sharp - meanwhile I believe all ATS's are based on the m-sport suspension by BMW, so you don't have to have as many options.
@@yiyangcheng nope, the Blackwings aren't available around me. Plus, for that money, I'd want something that looks a lot better. I'm not a fan of that CT4 and in particular the awful CT5. But I loved the ATS, CTS and CT6, so I'm not sure happened.
S5 has more power and thus a bit faster, also has more aggressive noise and handling ... looks great as well. After all that, I'm still going with the 435i (I prefer the shape and badge name) as I wait for my order
Maybe it's just me but I feel like the 4 series look like the new mustangs. I'm not a fan of the way mustangs look so it's a real shame bmw made these look like them. I like how the 335i coupe looks more than these.

I have to disagree with this review. The one I test drove felt like I was driving a boat. Body roll for days. No feeling in the wheel or seat. Based on the ATS sedan I drove I would go for the ATS Coupe when it is available and save some $$$. OR if you got to have a Euro car I would go with the S5. Although that probably won't save you much cash. Just my opinion. The 435 is a beautiful car though!
You almost certainly drove one without the handling package - it makes a HUGE difference, almost a completely different car. I drove a 435i and thought the same thing, then I drove a 428i with the handling package, and wow, what a huge different, the 428i was so incredibly accurate and balanced. I thought it was just the heavier 6cyl engine, but I was wrong. I bought that 428i on a lease, and I loved it, but when the lease was up, I gave it back got another car, then got bored and wanted another 428i, so I bought one during the pandemic. When I test drove the used, but new to me, 428i, I thought wow, this isn't near as a fun as I remember, and not all that responsive, etc, it felt more like my old CTS than anything, meaning on the highway it was a great cruising car, but you couldn't throw it around like the old 428i I had. After a while I figured it out, it was the m-sport handling package that came with my original that I was missing. Also, like you, I drove a couple of ATS's that also had the Caddy version of the m-sport package, and they were also great looking cars, and I would have bought one except for that awful Cadillac CUE infotainment system, which was unresponsive and laggy, it was awful. However, I think 2016 and newer ATS's had Apple Carplay and Android Auto, so it's not much of any issue anymore. Anyways, I think I'm going to go and buy yet another 428i or maybe a 435i, but this time decked out with all options. My original one was fairly loaded, and had a heads up display which is one of the biggest things I miss.
Awesome visual effect from the wheel @3:30- 3:35
I love this car.. MPPK or any of the new flash tunes makes it even better.
What do people think of the red leather interior? Yea or nay?
NAYYYY
Not
Red is awesome - but boring dullards who have no sense of style and are afraid to stand out are scared of anything that isn't completely standard.
@@rodmunch69 lol opinionated much. The red is for men who have a small penis or need a sense of big D energy.
The 4-series looks so much better than the ugly cheap looking 3-series, it's not even close.
Why is this called a road test when they only drive it on the track?
4:02 - 4:07 the stig is driving
The Stig normally wears gloves
Can't wait to do comparison with the ATS coupe...

get the 435i n add the MPPK Which will give u 250kw and 450nm torque will be more powerful than the S5, n that torque delivery is unbelievable.
Imran Ahmed Add the MPPK to the 435i and see what happens..
drdj69 I went for a C7 stingray instead
drdj69 I did one better and got the Dinan Stage 1 tune. Love it.
Over $60k for a 435i? It's ridiculous.
The BMW dealership doesn't accept food stamps so it's not like you were getting one.
@@rodmunch69 you talk like garbage
Are the oem tires on this car run flats?
I believe so
The 435i competes with the Audi s5. Not the A5.

Lots of poor people complain about anything that is new or different.

This is a horrible review. I feel like it's a poorly made infomercial
Most of them are just positive to stay in the good graces of the automotive industry.
I wouldn’t touch the n55 , full of problems

Looks ok. Like the interior but turbo is not that appealing.
Great review spoiled by a bizarre verbal delivery
He can't get out of his play-by-play voice.
