Excellent video! Very detailed and helpful I am using s20 at the moment, there a good tyre but just don't last long enough, started to square around 1800 miles and won't last more then another 1000 by the looks of things (Although I suspect they will be lethal by then) so will try these next
Excellent job on the video! You translated all the marketing data into an understandable presentation. I ran 5 sets of M5's through my bike and just recently got into the M7's. Haven't got enough time on them to give an accurate review but the M5's were incredible in the rain and in the dry - they saved my bacon many times so the M7's have a lot to live up to :) Well done on the video - let us know what you find after your long-term tests!
Motorcycle Superstore You asked for it, you got it :) I've put some miles on the M7's now and, after running no less then 5 sets of the M5's back to back, the jury has come in. The result? Mixed. The M7's are considerably softer then the M5's due to the changes with the belts and so the ride is better. That was nice..... But today I managed to lockup the front and rear brakes during a sharp stop. This was surprising as the M5's would typically try to launch me over the bars before they broke loose. The road was clean and clear and they screeched pretty good too... I've also noticed similar behavior on sharp cornering - they seem to be 'squidgy'. The first time this occurred I thought my tire was low or going flat. This was not the case, it appears to have been the tire. The fall in is definitely not as sharp as the M5's and I miss that a lot. I haven't had enough time in the rain on them so I can't comment on that aspect. Overall, I don't see the M7's as a step forward in any respect other then being softer. The M5's were a harder riding tire, which, while not always pleasant, never ever let go on me. In the rain they were ideal. Braking performance? Incredible. Basically, I could nail a corner very hard, at high speed, and I had to accept the harsh ride knowing that the tire had a lot of traction despite the hardness. This was my only complaint on the M5's. The M7's cure that, but it seems to have come at the cost of traction and fall in. The former I can't accept. The latter I can work-around. My hope is that the M5's remain on the market otherwise I have to find a new go-to tire because the tires should not have broken loose on me today. I've been in that scenario many times with the 5's and literally, the issue with them was my sliding forward. The 7's broke loose way too easily, front and rear and also on one corner I can think of. Believe me, I was hoping the 7's would be even better but I could not see how given the 5's performance. For me, they're not and that really is too bad.
Marvin Miller Hey mate, I'm on my m5's riding my XX. Love the bike and the tires. I am looking to replace them as the rear is worn and front has an older DOT. It came with the bike like that. Anyways, I was looking into the m7, thinking that they are newer thus better... So far you are the only one that gave a user review. I was waiting for an user to say something about it and for quite some time, all I got was cold manufacturers commercial rewarded, just like the video above. I enjoy leaning my bike all the way, some times nailing it hard, using it all year round through hot summer and even cold winter, dry and wet. Some track days too... I want the tire to have grip and last, I'am a bit over 10k kms on the m5's. Thanks to you, I'll stick with them, so thank you mate! Enjoy your rides!
***** You're very welcome and I think you're making the right choice. I would put it this way, if you like the M5's - stick with them while you can. I'm not impressed with the M7's and each day I get little reminders of that. The M7's, in my opinion, were a bit step backwards compared to the M5's. Mind you, understanding that the M5's did all things well, it was foolishness on my part to even try something new. After 5 pairs of M5's I should have stuck to what worked rather than try something new.
On a 2003 Honda RVT RC 51 with me an intermediate 135 pound rider, what tire pressure for the canyon twisty roads. Should i use less tire pressure then standard stated on tire, or swing arm lable? Thanks
I am curious of how this new m7 RR tire stacks up against the Racetek RR. Since my BMW s1000rr came with Metzler Racetek as the OEM choice, would it be a downgrade in terms of performance and grip?
+MrJayjay0420 Unless you plan on going to the track, the M7 RR will perform every bit as well on the streets as the Racetek. The M7 will also get you a lot more mileage. Hope this helps!
+Motorcycle Superstore thank you for your answer. though I am scrapping knee on the road often. I just want to know these will hold up to extreme lateral grip scenarios.
great grip excellent on back roads !! But my S1000R wobble or unstable under hard acceleration !! especially above 130+ plus not so stable at 168 than my Super corsa was !! So great tire if you are not riding aggressively !! I don't know about other bike's but this is my experience on my 2016 S1000R !!

Thanks, Marvin Miller. We're racking up miles and will report back. You do the same! - jc

Very pleased with the m5! Never pushed them on wet though. Rather on the coward side... Should I be or not (a coward)? Take care Marvin!
Cant wait to get my set

im on a r1 2007
Solid review!!
Is M7 RR gonna last longer than M5 H rated?
4500/5000km and done. Sporty rider no track days. (Triumph Speed Triple 2016)
Junior4mind what tires are going for next?

MrJayjay0420 Did u get the metzeler m7 rr?
How Does this compete with something like the pilot power? Pilot road or Q3?
+chris s The Sportec M7 RR is right there with the Pilot Power and Sportmax Q3 in terms of performance, rain handling, response and longevity. - RH
So its a sport tire not a touring tire
(More like power and Q3 than the Pilot Road 4) ?
