** So after posting I realized (and folks were kind enough to point out) that there is some clipping in the audio during the demo of the settings. My bad. Unfortunately UA-cam does not allow you edit videos after they are posted. So I decided to make an addendum to the video with the fix for the audio and a little bit of bonus content. Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/Tq4TZ1hVFmE/v-deo.htmlsi=MqwXAnBWS0GaEakN
Keith is hardly just an old guy reminiscing but a seasoned rock musician giving us an honest and competent evaluation of a new guitar product. His is such a professional video without all the sales hype found in other videos of the Rockman 100. I just ordered one of these based on the quality of Keith`s video and I`m still rocking after 60 years !
Very nice rundown. I purchased the rack module sometime in the early 80’s and loved it only to have someone like it more than I did and permanently borrowed it. 😢I was sent this pedal about a month ago ( I know a guy who knows a guy) and couldn’t believe how close they got it. I’m running it into a Keeley Dark Side for the tape delay then into a Helix with no other effects then into a 2X12 Powercab in stereo. OMG! The Line 6 Catalyst 2X12 also sounds amazing. Long live the 70’s!
It's like a satisfying recipe that hits all the right notes. The harmonic chorus and sustainer combo is magical. Cheers Keith! ...and I see your sugar mice and warm, wet circles too. Great album!
@BaronVonSchnarffler it was hard finding one but if you spend some time you can find some in stock. The really missed to mark on gauging interest in this pedal. I found one after a day of searching and it came in yesterday broken right out the box so I am again waiting lol But I have horrible luck so...
I redid my pedal board with a equalizer, the xr100 and a delay and reverb and a pwr amp to run a speaker. It is a great 2nd rig for certain sounds when I don't play my other amp. I had a original rockman. This with a delay and reverb is awesome. Bought it as soon as it was released. Your demo was better than the others I have seen so far 👍
Nice demo, it's certainly making the rounds on youtube :o) I recently got the "Rock Guy" package for Overloud TH-U and it's pretty nice, they did a decent job of recreating Tom's SRD gear digitally and you get all the stuff - compression, sustain, chorus, delay, treble boost, etc. I've been playing around with it for a while and it's close enough to satisfy the need when you feel it. TH-U has a lot of other amps, cabs, pedals so it's one of those things I like now and then. All I need is a guitar, laptop, and powered studio monitor speakers and I'm all set. So I'll pass on the MXR pedal but it's interesting to see the reviews and demos.
I actually just used mine at a gig this past weekend. It's not just a novelty to me! I used it as an overdrive on that edge channel w low to mod gain level. I was also able to stack it w my Rodenberg Sl-OD deluxe. This married well. The clean chorus setting was great w channell two being my fav choice at the moment. You can do more w it than just recording at home. You certainly can gig with it, You just have to figure out how you want to use it. I'll keep mine on my board and keep finding ways to bring back that classic sound! Get it, try it for yourself!
Have one on order...can't wait to try it out Clean with the Chorus...on a Squire 12 String Jazzmaster, some Reverb and a Delay Pedals as icing on the Cake into my Interface and Studio One. Then add in "THE DIRT" with a TC Electronic Quintessence Harmony Effects Pedal for LEAD...BOTH IN STEREO of course. OH LORDY! :)
From what I understand its more designed for direct input into a recording interface, second application best suited for would be a PA setup and lastly a guitar amplifier so yes I would say it would work well for that setup.
What I haven't been able to find out is, with the volume maxed out, will this clean boost the signal? I want a clean boost with the compression this has, similar to how Angus Young used the Schaffer-Vega wireless to compress and clean boost the front of his amp on Back In Black.
@@JLE999 it’s a new plug-in I just downloaded. Don’t recall the name at the moment. It has three modes. When I go to the third chord I switch the mode. I’ll see if I can get the info on the plug in for you tomorrow.
dude theres a LOT of distortion in the driven samples, I think the gain is set too high or you are running your input signal too high. sounds great otherwise. I am expecting mine this coming week
@@chadhagene7665 Yeah its not there on the song demo sample, just on the other clips. Finding one of these pedals was hard but I finally found a place with some stock on hand. They really missed the mark on gauging interest in this pedal and nobody has them in stock
The only thing I wish it had was the ability to scroll either up or down through the settings. It looks like you have to tap dance your way from Clean 2 to Distortion. Not the most useable setup for live use, even with a separate footswitch.
@TheTapeFarm Can you go up and down though? My point is if I want to go Clean 2 to Distortion, I don't want to have to pass through Clean 1 and Edge to get to it.
I had a xp100 back in the 80s. It was stereo to each side that would come apart. You could separate them and it was pretty cool but not very powerful. It would cut nice
It can be spikey but it's so much fun with the right amp. And settings you get that classic 80s tone.SHOILD HAVE PUT THE ECHO ON BOARD LIKE THE ORIGINAL.SAVE YOUR MONEY.
These are junk its why the thing died in the first place and now theyre making them again ? And at 350 bucks here in canada, most of these will end up on ebay for half of what they paid

Loved your demo. Thanks !!! Gotta get me one. 😃
What a great video! I ordered one from Sweetwater, but they’re out of stock. That was a great song demo as well. Great job!

Rockman has the basic clean and overdrive sounds that are highly marketable
Thanks for the demo. Colombo has made a Rockman clone for sometime but no one demos it. I've always wondered how it compares.

Welp. Now I gotta buy that 😂😂😂Great Demo! Sounded like a cross between solo Gilmore and clearly, Boston! 🙌🏻

Nostalgic YES but STILL awesome !
Bro, got me with the Marillion. Subbed.
was that sustain at 8:32 all pedal????? If so, very nice!!!
Can this be output to a powered speaker and sound as it should? Be cool to use it as a practice amp of sorts.

Super NOYCE! Stereo RULZ! Unlike the original Rockman there is NO DELAY in this new unit which is fine by me. Waiting on one to arrive any day now. :)
