    Love an attic window but I make my frame strips smaller, like 1 1/2” wide. In my option the 2 1/2” strips can distort the picture in the panel.

    • @melanietaylor0401
      @melanietaylor0401 Рік тому

      @lorriemcdonnell7027 she cut them that size because of the measurements of the panel ! No matter what size panel you have you can make it into an Attic Window quilt. Just make sure you have measurements that divide into whole numbers !! 😊

    Where the sashing row meets the new block window pane row and needs to align with the previous window pane row, just iron a crease into the sashing to match up perfectly the row above or below the sashing. This will put the alignment exactly where it needs to be and won't make any row off kilter. Hope this makes sense?

    I like the attic window look for a panel but how you cut it depends on the subject. First, you have to decide if you are looking out of the window or into a room to know where to put the light source (the lightest fabric), the sill or the sashing. And depending on the subject, you may need to chop some of each "window pane." (The window frame fabrics take up visual space so a person or animal looks distorted if you don't account for that break in the item you're looking at. For example, you can't have a forearm in one pane and the hand in the next without cutting away the wrist that is "behind" the fabrics of the window frame.)
