Today I explored the city of Kochi for the first time ever! It was a super interesting place which kind of reminded me of Sri Lanka with the laid back attitude and nice beaches. I went on a tuk tuk tour to all the best spots including the hindu temple, jew town and a ginger farm. Met some really interesting characters and had a great day.

If you want to visit a temple then you can, some of the temples allow only Hindus because in the past there were infinite islamic invasions on India to loot and destroy temples, millions of small and big temples were destroyed so some temple management feel insecure now also.
Now a days also many temples are destroyed by radicalised people.
my best bro prince Harry Mac Luke Travis all are looking handaome lot of love from your cousin viki 💙🐥
Kerala is land of spices. VASCO DA GAMA the first European who discovered sea route to India. He landed on Calicut (in Kerala) for trading spices. After Portuguese, the Dutch , the British discovered route to India. Europeans consume lot of meat but they had no spices to preserve meat for long time . They need indian spices to preserve meat for long time. And thus how they ruled & traded in ancient days. That’s the short history…
@The Santhal Vlogger It is really good to see the old style of drying the spices etc along with the old buildings still playing a role in helping the local economy grow.
Grateful for your information on Vasco Da Gama!
@@1mazforall in single words …Europeans invade India for spices, then started trading other things & then ruled to gain power over everything, that’s all my Bros…
Imagine Indian spices are not common things. It had been a valuable assets then & even now…
Value of spices…👍🏻
I gotta admit….when ever I watch travel videos of India,I always get surprised!!!…it’s such a diverse and beautiful country!
Also the people in Kerala are Malayali and they speak Malayalam mainly not Tamil. The last temple you visited was a Jain temple not Buddhist.
thanks for pointing it out!
Yeah a few years after independence the Tamil-speaking parts of Travancore became part of Tamil Nadu so nowadays there not that many Tamil speakers in Kerala.
@@chrisjohn1284 Pallakad is still somewhat a tamil speaking area
Malayalam and tamil are similar languages

Kerala is really beautiful and calm. ❤ from Mumbai🙏
Your best indian vlog till now, well done. I like when you show the regular markets of the city and not the touristy ones. Also i must say the tuk tuk driver, Shibu was very honest and 'hassle free'👍
Ya the Ferrari driver

Kerala is truly God's Own Country!! Love it everytime we visit this marvel of nature.
Harry i am realy recommended to see 'THRISSUR POORAM '

👌👌👌👌😍😍😍😍😍
Harry ,
Glad you were able to organize a honest tuk tuk driver. The spice shop tour was really good and to see people working hard making an honest living is wonderful. India is truly vibrant! Enjoyed your vlog! Good luck Harry!
"Kerala doesn't feel like India too much" 😂😂😂 Loved that line. @Harry Jaggard
Visit The HIMALAYAS!!
Himachal Pradesh ( Manali, Dharamshala, Leh, Ladakh) You'll love it!! ❤
Bro he needs to visit a lot of places Rajasthan for the Forts and Desert, Himachal for mountains, North east India. I appreciate him taking time and exploring our country 🙏🏻
For some reason foreigners never go beyond Delhi to north idk why
Talking hindi in Kerala is like talking Spanish in Germany. Although some may understand it but majority couldn't understand.
Most of them can understand hindi but can only speak broken hindi(some people not alll)..
Bro I am from north and when i visited there I went too many stalls and tried to speak Hindi they were like what is this guy saying and they were speaking malayalam so it was difficult to communicate but english really helped
@@godworld6370 😂😂😂 Kerala the newer generation can manage with basic hindi plus the local stalls these days have a large Bangladeshi, Nepali guys and Biharis or UP guys so communication in Hindi shouldn't be that difficult. I remember going to my hometown pharmacy and asking for a tablet in Malayalam and when he responded back with the little Malayalam he knew I was like this is odd, his Malayalam sounded gibberish and finally communicated in Hindi. Yeah in Kerala we can get lost in translation a lot the more local and interior side we go. But English is a better option.
@@GoodPalate can non indians buy a flat in kerala or
@@headlinesgenerator5426 I don't know if they can, would have to check the policies and laws relating to property. My guess is non Indians cannot buy any property throughout India except Goa.
The spice market was magical. Great to see where the spices I use are coming from and how they are dried. Super! 🇮🇪♥️☘️🇺🇦
I just loved that last shop you were in with all the spices. That was nice of them to give all that tea drinks..
Nice video Harry.
So nice
people in kerala understand tamil, mother tongue in kerala is malayalam, tamil is spoken in Tamil Nadu.

Those tuk tuks are available in SL too but are mostly used for transporting goods.
But some do take passengers. The one you took to race Mac & Ali to 9 Arches is similar to this one.
Harry, I would recommend that you visiting the Himalayan areas of India .... foreign tourists seldom go there and they are arguably the most picturesque in India and the world.
thanks for the advice i will try

The temple that you visited at Mattancherry is of the Konkani speaking community settled during Portuguese persecution in Goa .
I used to buy spice and tea from Colombo for home, Kochi Kerala also looks like spice hub, those Parsi and Dutch Street so cool, nice video.
Harry way to go! Hoping you could enjoy this trip more. You are making history by being so kind and teaching people about being sweet to each other. Amazing.
I can see a kind human being in you , Nice vlog . Keep up the good work.

4:42 no bro 1st church in India is Palayoor Mar Thoma Major Archiepiscopal Church it was established in 52 AD by St Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ.
Your vlogs are so awesome Harry getting addicted to them.
Glad you like them!
She is winnowing the waste outer cover of the pepper off before it goes for grinding. It’s a very traditional tool and is used to winnow all sorts of grain and spices to get rid of husks. Typically it is women’s work, and is also done in household settings too. Masala is a spice mix, not necessarily a curry mix. In Sri Lanka you went to Matara which is a cinnamon flowing area! Kerala is very like Sri Lanka in some ways as it has a similar colonial history. You are seeing as you did in SL that people can live together quite peacefully even though they have different religions and cultures. Multicultural societies that work do exist in many different places!
Getting good with learning the language Harry! Your instinct was spot on that he would likely try to sell you on something else but atleast you let him know upfront you weren’t interested. Where’s Ali been? He’s been MIA for almost a week now. Hope everything is ok with him. Cheers brother..see you on the next one
The Kerala model of development refers to the economic practices adopted by the Indian state of Kerala. It is characterised by results showing strong social indicators when compared to the rest of the country such as high literacy and life expectancy rates, highly improved access to healthcare, and low infant mortality and birth rates. Despite having a lower per capita income, the state is sometimes compared, to developed countries. These achievements along with the factors responsible for such achievements have been considered characteristic results of the Kerala model.Academic literature discusses the primary factors underlying the success of the Kerala model as its decentralization efforts, the political mobilization of the poor, and the active involvement of civil society organizations in the planning and implementation of development policies.
🥰Love loved this vlog Harry Sire. The markets and real interaction with the people of Kochi. The street that you went "the hassle free" loved it. The street lights 👌Loved the shop that you went to buy coffee. 😍 those ornaments are so beautiful. Thank you for showing this side of Kochi. You are really getting good at speaking Malayalam. Bless you Harry. Hope you are not catching a cold and ginger tea is good for colds. Safe travels. 🙏❤

Ladies in south India & Sri Lanka use that tray to sort rice as well.
Harry if you wanna a proper houseboat cruise then head to Allepy District. You'll definitely have fun there.
It’s sad to see most tourists know only Kochi, Munnar, Alleppy and Kumarakom…Kerala is almost 600 kms in length and there are several places apart from these places .. Wayanad for coffee and wildlife sanctuaries, Kannur for the theyyams , food , hopefully once the highways are ready things will change and more tourists will patronise
Yes you are correct about the symbol harry .glad young man like ya self knows . good vid Harry
Thoroughly enjoyed this video! Loved the spice workshop, not seen that on any vlogs. Your tuktuk guide turned out to be nice once you avoided the touristic visits. Awesome vlog! And you are right those pesky Dutch were everywhere, 🤣 speaking of, will you be visiting Mauritius anytime soon?
That cruise on a scale of ten....
I would give -10
My experience is that it is best not to buy things for people unless you have asked the person concerned,
Because usually what we like, others don't like, Harry is very smart,
In this episode, Harry learns knowledge from several very wise old people, which is very warm!👍😃🙏
我的經驗是除非問過當事人,否則最好不要幫人家買東西,
因為通常我們喜歡的東西,別人不見得喜歡,哈利很聰明,
這一集哈利與幾個很有智慧的老人學習知識,非常地溫馨!
The spice 🍵 tea lady was so nice 😊 and cute …offering you different flavour’s 😘😘
Thanks for sharing your video, I like to visit kerala next time I get to India. Excellent videos Harry 👍😃🇬🇧👏

All those buildings seem so old & should've been built during the colonial era around the 17th, 18th or 19th century. Similar buildings still exist at the Galle Fort in Sri Lanka.

Bro wanna remind you that hindu is a religion and hindi is the language...u must be of Hindu religion to entre that temple....Btw love ur vids man ❤️
i corrected myself in the video and said hindu but thanks for pointing it out!
@@harryjaggardtravel
Hindu religion and Temples are pretty discriminatory in roots.. As a Nazi Aryan race theory... The famous case of Sabrimala Temple which banned Women till date even after Court verdict... Some temple even today won't let Schedule Caste(Dalits-which they consider as untouchables) to enter in the temple premises... That's why I don't go to any hindu.temple anymore. Only Buddhist sites and Sikhs Gurudwara are the ones who accept everyone despite any discrimination against any religion, caste, gender..
Hindu temples welcome people of any confession.
@@rahulbaba470 😂😂 really ? You don't know nothing . Are you really indian ?
There is nothing discriminatory like that❕
Some old caste problem exists But it's not supported by the state/nation and reform is happening at a fast pace ( and it is and it should be dealt with strictly).
And some conservativeness is still there like in very few temples( only 8 ), foreigners or non-Hindus are not allowed in some important parts of the temple because of the history of extremism and destruction people faced(still happens sometimes, and many cases of ancient statues of Deity getting stolen).
You can see many vlogs of foreigners going to the temple. So it's not like what some ignorant fools are telling you.
And about the Sabarimala temple, it's the temple of Shani Grah ( Saturn ) where some occult practices are done, so, it was prescribed for women and children to not go there but with time to some extent, it became a conservative rule. Like in Temples, especially which is located on a hill or a distant place, menstruating women didn't go because of the wilderness and animals and because of the extra care that they need that period but with time and forgotten knowledge, all this became a conservative rule.
You can also find many foreigners in the biggest Hindu gathering( even the biggest in the world), The Maha Kumbh Mela, which happens with every complete cycle of Jupiter (12 years).
Amazing 😍😍❤
"kerala doesn't actually feel like india too much" lmao 😂 we can thank the Hollywood and bollywood for that stereotype. India is india its diverse.
The reason why people say that in Mumbai and other northern states, have lots of slum areas and it is not clean.. but kerala does not have slums and kerala is the most cleanest state in India.
@@ancyvarghese165 not true a simple google search can tell you that ,don't try to oversell kerala lol

official language of Kerala is malayalam bro .its 1000s of year old language. 97% of Keralites are Malayalies . hindi is the official language in some north Indian states but not in kerala and neighboring south indian states. it would be respectful if you say spme malayalam words instead of hindi in kerala.
u should try to visit north east as well as north states of India , they are beautiful with scenic mountains :)
Great 👍🏼

Go to Andaman and Nicobar islands , I'm sure you will love it.
@Harry Jaggard - The Religious symbol is Swastika - its a ancient Indian symbol, can be found also in all Buddhist counties as Buddism originated from India. This symbol has its origin in Hinduism - *Swastika is a symbol of good luck and Prosperity for all*
What Gemans used is not swastika - Its Hekincross or Hooked Cross - Its origin is from Christianity. So what nazis used is a symbol of Christ, as Hitler originally wanted to be a priest in his young days, and Hooked cross was the main symbol in that Church and still is where he grew up.
Hey Harry, you should first visit ancient temples and historical places, reckon you gonna grow much faster.
