  • On a sunny day in the Warwickshire Countryside, we were joined by the immensely talented Amy Shore who came to share her knowledge and teach us how to photograph classic cars.
Up until recently, Amy's go-to camera was the Nikon D6. While this still plays a big part in her photographic arsenal, Amy's newfound number-one camera is the Nikon Z9. Along with these two camera bodies, her go-to lenses are Nikon's F-mount 35mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4 (used with an FTZ II adapter) and the Z-mount 50mm 1.2.

As a photographer of over 35 years Today I have learned something. It is the energy from the photographer which is equally important as the images. The passion of not even sometimes being able to get the words out because of the excitement. This is what makes this video pretty special I think. Well done

I really enjoyed this, thank you. I’ve been asked to photograph a friend’s car, it was owned by his father, has recently been restored and means a great deal to him. Not having ever done any automotive photography, I was reallt anxious about doing a good job. This really helped me not only with some great shooting tips but to also to rethink how I approach the shoot. Thanks!!!

Would be interesting your process on how you decide on edits and adjustments to images. The final still version of “wills box” very different to how it appears in the video segment just before, for example

What a great video, recently I've been using the side mirrors to capture the road behind me or the window down and using it as a frame , this has given me more ideas 😊

"But in a day like today, where it's nearly 30 degrees, there's no puddles!"
10:55 literally 7 puddles. Lol. I remember specifically thinking "man, that's a lot of puddles, kinda looks bad in those photos." then she said "... there's no puddles." and I was so confused.

A very good video - and certainly well presented. One comment - I was surprised that the car was photographed with its front wheels straight. I tend to think that turned wheels - perhaps even on full lock - look a bit more dynamic….

Hey Peter! Amy from the video here. I don't do that because I personally think it looks cliche and a overdone. My aim isn't to make the cars look dynamic all of the time, but to document their characters with honesty, if that makes sense :)

Great content. Terrible sound balance. Unecessary music so loud but the talent's audio was so low and very indestinct. Real shame.

Interesting video. Shame about one of the worst British cars of that era, the MGB. The later ones were even worse!

@peterhayward1848 I guess that is just your personal opinion. I absolutely loved my characterful chrome bumper, wire wheeled, MGB Roadster which was my reliable daily runner in all weathers for many years and very much regret having to sell it. Very much enjoyed this inspiring video as well!

It's always to good hear when someone really likes their car. Not just my opinion, they could be unreliable. Many cars back then were unreliable. I had to fix them and many other makes of car. Rust was a very serious problem with many cars. I did say the later ones were even worse! Hardly any quality control at the factory. The rubber bumper GT models . No offence meant. @@nbroadsman
